    If you input 110e6 and 150e6 in mat erosion, does that mean that if you do what you can, the element will be deleted? The basic feel of volume strain is to set it to 0.10 to delete elements when it exceeds 10%, right?

    I’m having an issue, I’ve followed this exactly but the run time is 20 hours for me instead of 9 minutes…. My computer has 16GB of ram with i7-9750H 2.6GHz 6 code cpu so it makes no sense that it takes so much longer to run, especially when the code file says he’s only using one core to process

    What kind of material would I use for a steel target that erodes and a tungsten alloy projectile that is also eroding as it penetrates into the target material ? Could i use the "concrete material" that you used and just modify the variables or should i select a different material ? I would appreciate your feedback!

      I think you should look up Johnson-Cook material cards for that.Also for eroding effects you should look up eroding contacts.

    @Mechanical assimilator Can you please tell me the why do we choose only the two values in the mat_erosion card i.e., maximum pressure and equivalent stress and how do we arrive at the values which we gave as input i.e., 110 MPa and 150 MPa?

      1. The software has many keycards, when any card is used, we might observe many keywords which we do not have come across, but they might have been used by any Researcher in any of their project. If we do not exactly know the functionality of that keyword we keep them default that was set in the software and only change the values required. 2. Max pressure and equivalent stress failure. It depends on how you want the material to withstand the impact or when the failure has to happen.

    @Mechanical Assimilator I have modeled almost the same problem following the steps in this video, but I am not able to obtain the results as yours. The bullet's circular cap separates out from the bullet, it seems rather they are two different parts. Will you please let me know what seems to be wrong, I will share you the .k file, if you could share me your email ID?

      After creating the profile, try merging the lines using the Curve tool (above Elements and mesh tool )under which you can see merge curve option and then create the mesh. Why can't you try creating a profile in solidworks, save it as an igs or step file and then import it into the .k file and automatically mesh it. I'm suggesting this because meshing part is predominantly performed in Hypermesh and Ansa and solving is done in LS-DYNA.

      Try merging the lines then a spline gets created. Delete all the lines and then keep the meshed part and save it. Reopen the file again in a new window or in the same window. I tried and was able to perform the run. You will get it as well

    Thank you for addressing the comment by this tutorial video, it is indeed helpful. I have a doubt, you used a shell spin feature to convert the planar mesh to a 3-d mesh. But, there is an option solid spin as well, if we use it, Will the end result be different?

      That's a good question. The profile created was shell, so the shell spin was used. Solid face spin can also be used but it is used for the solid to make solid

      Hi Yash, Yes, the geometry and the mesh can be done using the 2d mesher and other options in LSPP

      Hi Ajinkya, It's a 35mm bullet case with 12.7 dia. Very easy to design and meshing is also explained in the video

    Thank you very much for this video. It was very helpful. I performed an impact analysis using the same procedure but after the analysis, the Animate result was only showing the impactor. The concrete wall only appears when the animation starts to run, then disappears almost immediately. Please can you guide me on how to solve this? Thank you.

      This sort of problem is new to me, have you opened the d3plot file in the same window of the .k file? If so try opening it in a new window. Let me know what happened.

    Sir when you create this assembly in Solidworks or any software, are the mates retained when importing the assembly to Adams?

      Only the stp or parasolid file is imported, which contains only the geometry. The connections or mates should be created again.

      I didn't quite get your question. But, the displacement depends on how much length the cylinder is and same applies to the piston. With both parameters we can adjust the time. It's a trial and error
