Deus Vult, brother.
A Chevy can't even outrun a Mopar. Thats why I've always been a Ford guy!
Top fuel all uses the hemi so if that’s all you care about I would think you’d be a dodge guy.
I heard the 30 30 was used take bear 🐻 but it was type writer lead hard they but a x on tip be interesting if you cast some but finding the letters is another task
Wow. Wth. Very impressive. I really wish you would put that 13 grains of powder behind 135 grain solid copper defender/hunter round from Lehigh. I bet you could get AK47 power out of a 16“ carbine
Not my cup of tea
111grain +p grindhard anyone?
So glad to see a fat, 45 keeping pace (1190) fps with a 9 mm. A bigger, fatter round. 230 hitting 960 to 1, 000 fps. Olympic speed out of a regular....!
I prefer +P rather than Super because I don't have to change the barrel.
Hope you make more videos. Your channel has been extremely helpful.
Been out of it for a while Been drag racing Actually loaded some 185s the other day with CFE Pistol On a whim buy They are impressive
A lot of people put down Kimbers. For me, I think they are one of the best 1911s on the market. I got a Kimber 45 about 25 years ago and I put somewhere around 60,000-65,000 rounds through it and never had any problems out of it. It is a stainless custom carry. It's very accurate out to 75-80 yards. I've never shot anything over a +p. Great video and thanks for your intelligence on the ammo rounds you reload....
I’ve actually hit targets at 175 yards with it Not consistently but an eye opener
Just came across your video. Great video! I've found a new friend... Love what you're doing with the 45s. It's about time someone puts out some good stuff.
There are way too many nay sayers for me to keep this up UA-cam regulates gun useage too much Unfortunately not worth the effort
i wonder if a muzzle break would have any effect with a otherwise stock 1911?
Slide mass is the key Newton was no dummy Physics applies Any measure necessary to reduce slide velocity will tame the battery

When you up the pressure on regular ACP brass at around high-end pressures of up to 40,000 PSI even if it's working most 1911's don't have decent chamber support, this is obviously why super brass and 450 SMC with their thicker walls help pressure bulging, consider magnum rated primers, again smaller rifle primers like the 450 SMC use if possible, increased speeds of the slide is sometimes difficult to control with these higher pressures, often out pacing the magazine spring which you'll know, now slide speeds need to be reduced, start with an oversized flat firing pin stop/plate an increased main spring of 26-28 pounds, then a 26-28 pound recoil spring, it's no good shooting a 230 grain round ball down range at over 1400 FPS if it can't recycle reliably, 'YES' a compensator helps further reduce slide speed, which might add a further 1-2 inches on the overall-length of the pistol, 1911's weren't designed to handle these higher pressures, the Colt 1911 ACP was conceived as a 230 grain ACP ball moving at 800-870 FPS and extremely reliable, these higher 'Frankenstein' loads take away the reliability and functionality of this Brown's baby, I have always thought the 45 ACP standard is perfectly adequate in most situations, penetration sectional density can be a little problematic depending, windshields, wet rain coats, barrier penetration, is now been addressed with 45ACP Plus P and better super 45 and 450 SMC's they are the ultimate because they can run almost as reliable as standard 45 ACP pressures with the right springs and firing pin stop/plate, now consider the 'Winchester Magnum 45' with those wonderful 'LAR Grizzly 1911's' on steroids can handle a 230 grain at over 1800 FPS with hand loads and manufactured ammo 1600 FPS now, if LAR Grizzly started up again, then I reckon a lot of peoples peaked interest would be fueled. Good You-Tube podcast much enjoyed and a great sport for many.
You’ve said a bunch The best part is the journey Actually quantifying what your firearm can do Putting BS aside The design lends itself to a continuous battery of 600-700 ft lbs It can do more but requires work I shoot loads in the 600-700 ft lb range without much change in the gun It eats them like candy Ive lost count in the thousands on this pistol
Might seem like a dumb question but I have a kimber eclipse custom ii in 45 wondered if I can run 45 super factory ammo through it in stock form I'm not a reloader just wondered if it'd handle it.

I kind of gave up on two 250gr bullet designs for 45 Super / 1911 - the Keith 255gr design and the old school 45 Colt 255 design like the SAECO #955 Mold. I'm interested in hearing about any 250gr bullet design thats great for the 1911. I've concluded the RCBS 45-250, the LBT LFN 250, and the NOE 230grHP-255grFN the absolute winners in reliable feeding for the 1911. I wish I knew of more!
I load up the 250 grain round nose flat point from Rim Rock Bullets or missouri bullet company pin busters. They are reliable in all my 1911s. Load them around 1.20" OAL in 45 and 45 super. I plan to try some 255 grain SWC and 215 express SAECO from Missouri bullet company. Good luck!
The 250 gr bullet from Arsenal molds is excellent
@@stuckcase7775 I see a 250gr thats a GC design and a 260 PB design. Do you run GCs for 45 Super? I just PC them whether they are PB or BB design but no GC molds for 45 at this point

@3.10 it came to 900 fpe. The second load, 215 grains came to around 923 fpe. The 210 load, came at around 930 fpe. Just wanted to add that the 45 Super operates at 28,000 PSI, the 40,000 you mention is 460 Rowland pressures (39,000 PSI).
Easily obtained with proper load management
Thx great info….my 1911 conversions to Super and Rowland are helped A LOT by using an EGW flat bottom firing pin stop, the extra leverage against the slide at the beginning of the firing event gives the chamber that extra mili-second delay and slows down the slide, it helps to go down on the spring pressure needed for the recoil spring, which is good, as the higher springs slam the slide forward harder on the frame….I also use a recoil buffer, like the one from Wilson Combat, not only to help the frame, but as an spy for me, to see just how much force is hitting back in recoil, by watching that I can tell how to adjust the recoil spring rate…..with a muzzle brake, a 20lbs. spring is possible, and it shoots very nice on the hand, just a solid push….without the brake, it may need a 22-24 lbs spring……but the recoil buffer shows much softer slamming into frame…..another thing that’s essential in my opinion, is a Forged slide lock pin of .200” diameter, EGW and Ed Brown have those, all others are .197”, .198” etc…..they give too much slop in the action and hurt the gun frame a barrel more…..hope that helps….
jam a .45 win mag in there buddy
Wish I could
Great video. Question. Why do you use small rifle primers instead of small pistol primers?
They did that to .450 smc
@@The1911Guy272 year-old noobie (student) here, same question "but WHY?" I appreciate your patience with teaching us who are not in the know at this point. Everybody has to start somewhere, sometime.😊 I'm just a little late.
@@robertrenstrom4668 basically in Lehman terms the different primer helped the cartridge build more pressure. But also because the ammo had a copyright / patent claim so they couldn't reproduce .45 super 1 to 1 so they changed the primer making a difference "bullet".

Thx Been messing with CFE Pistol and some hornady 185s lately They are hovering at 700 ft lbs pretty readily
FINALLY! KNOWLEDGE!
So I picked up some Hawthorn 45 Super Ammunition. On the box says 1490fps / 1257 fpe . I ran it thru the chronograph out of my 1911 45 super and it registered 1523 fps . Holy smokes!!! I couldn't believe it so I shot 20 rounds to confirm and all of them hit over 1490 fps.. that is insane🤟😎👍❤🇺🇸
922 ft. lbs, pretty dang good!
Thanks. Luckily I ran into another one of your 45super vids again. I google 185gr xtp because I got them today for the first time ever. I use Longshot which is pretty much 100% identical and powder load to 800x. I also have small primer hole Blazer brass and was wondering how ridle primers will perform. This is going to help me a lot.
Small rifle primers have worked well in most of the loads Less primer swipe
@@stuckcase7775 I use a compensator full time now, it totally eliminates swipe.
I have shot thousands 45 Super through a couple relatively stock 1911's (just normal custom upgrades) and a heavy recoil spring. All the rounds were my own hand loads using new Starline 45 Super brass (a little heavier webbing). I never had a case head separation, etc., guns ran fine.
Check my build out

Wow, no wonder the cases are "one and done". I barely got 1400 out of a supported-chamber .400 Cor-Bon barrel with a 130-gr cast bullet and Green Dot... but the brass is reuseable.
You can see by that muzzle flip, that is indeed 45 super. 😂
Because he's running the wrong springs lol😂

I’ve not been afraid to shoot many guns in my life but watching that makes me slightly more content with standard ACPs
@@eancola6111 from what I’ve seen, terminal ballistics aren’t much improved over say a good +p. So I’m not certain the trade off and extra abuse is worth it.
It looks like you have a lot of slag in your pot that needs to be removed.
Called "dross"
Yep
That's a spicy meatball!
All well and good but the 45ACP was designed to penetrate more at lower velocities. These lower velocities not only are better at shocking / dropping your target but will also prolong the life of your pistol and be less of a problem to unintended targets in the next rooms over. We're always trying to improve things that have been tested for years by armed forces ordnance experts for our troops. This is generslly pointless. If you want severe speed for using hard casts on grizzlies switch to 10mm.

hey hey stuck case, hope you're doing well. Really dig that blackhawk hunter. Really want to get that one in 44mag but 45 colt actually sounds fun too. 1450+fps with a 250gr? wow! Nice tactical sandals too!
Are you using 45 ACP brass at 45 Super levels with 250/255.
Yes sir Actually at Rowland levels Small primer and Large Rifle Primer Some brass accept the large primers some don’t My Super brass would Had to use a tool steel firing pin to get them to go off consistently
Have you tried 45 ACP small primer pockets using Small mag Rifle primers like 7.5 in 45 super loads similar to 450 SMC ? I very fond of 250/255gr in Alaska.
Yes sir I do I use federal once fired small primer brass and small rifle primers quite often
What load are you using in 45 ACP with 250/255 for 45 Super. Would Small Primer 45 ACP help ? Since 450 SMC uses small Rifle mag primers ? Thanks Jeff in Alaska G21 /KKM/22/24 pound spring
I’ve been out of the game for a while I absolutely encourage small rifle primer useage When I put the gun down I was doing just that I was playing with CFE Pistol, 800x, Blue Dot, and Autocomp All using small rifle primers
I use Rem 7.5 primers in 45 ACP Fed Nickle at super level. 250gr with 9.0 of PP. 1123 in 5.2” in Alaska.
Appreciate the video, I want to do this with my Tisas 1911 but only about a magazine’s worth per year for deer hunting. A lot of people quick to give advice on what they read, but like everything else manufacturing tolerances and material quality varies. TurkeysOpinion had a video mostly supporting this or at least showing that the ACP cases were stronger than the +P cases and were very close to the super cases (primer failures). Thanks for sharing your experience and data.
I think proper lubrication on the barrel goes a long way towards preventing the parts from beating themselves to death also.
I already did it.
I use a 200 h&g style swc pushed with universal powder to about 1100 fps. More of a +p than a super. This round has worked great on hogs and deer out to 50 yards. I did put an 18.5 pound recoil spring and shock buff in it. The stock spring was 16 pounds.
Would you recommend these loads in a commander model 1911?
Yes
@@patrickfloyd6218 barrel length is directly proportional to muzzle velocity and flash with medium pistol powders. I would not recommend them. Pursue some faster burning powders such as AA5 231 HP38 Titegroup
