Alco T6s #3 - Arkansas & Missouri Railroad
Welcome back to Alcos and Rarities! In this video we will see more Alco T6 action on the A&M, this time around the middle of the line and where their headquarters is located, Springdale, AR. The first train is a local switcher that works the towns of Springdale and Fayetteville. This job is known as the SFLO and can often be seen out working around the two towns in the daylight hours on weekdays and even well into the night. The second local is also based out of Springdale but primarily switches industries in the nearby town of Rogers, known as the RBLO. The can be seen working rogers for several daylight hours and most often return and switch for awhile at Springdale Yard in the evenings. Thank you for taking the time to view this video!

In May of 2022 a train, crossing the Arkansas River on the A&M bridge between Van Buren and Fort Smith, derailed causing one of the locomotives (AM 50) to be out of commission. Since 50 had to be removed from the consist, the T6 (AM 14) which is normally sandwiched between two C420s was leading trains for a time. These videos document the notched nose switcher as it leads the Van Buren switchin...

The Florida Railroad Museum has a variety of operational and non-operational locomotives at their base in Willow, FL. At the time of this video (April, 2019) they had a newly acquired Alco S2m from a Conrad Yelvington Facility. As far as I know this Alco S2 has been rebuilt, but I believe it just has a newer Alco prime mover. The museum has a few miles of track that they run excursion trains on...

Good to see a pair of T-6s outside of Ft Smith/ Van Buren for the first time in a while. I told em last time I was down there, they need to lash up all 3. I’d love to see 12 active again too, but doubtful that’ll happen any time soon. Great video btw…

That is correct, RS11s have 12 cylinder 251b prime movers. This RS11 had its engine swapped, but it was simply changed out with a different 251b.

The C425 with the M420 was originally a EL unit. It carries its original number. Gotta love the turbo whine on the 420, reminds me of turbos on Alco S series switchers and supercharged Baldwin 606 & 608 locos
