- Delaware Lackawanna is railroad that operates a large fleet of Alco and MLW locomotives. Their operations are mostly based out of Scranton, PA right beside the famous Steamtown roundhouse. The locomotive start-up for the day begins in Scranton at about 6:30 AM. The railroad's operations can be somewhat unpredictable as to which directions they will run on a given, but there are several jobs you might expect to see them run. One of which is the train that most of this videos follows which is the one goes up the Pocono Mountains. It typically departs in the morning and consists of thinks like grain hoppers, lumber cars, and tank cars. Another one of the operations leaves Scranton and takes what's known as the "Laurel Line". This is a stretch of track that the museum trolleys take and it has overhead electric wire. This DL job sometimes takes the line to reach a customer. A third job you may expect to see run is the Carbondale job. This runs out of Scranton through the town bus terminal parking lot and heads up towards the DL Von Storch shops. A (what seems to be) afternoon job may also get on the Norfolk Southern line and run down to interchange at the NS Taylor Yard. The Delaware Lackawanna is truly magnificent railroad to see in person.

Excellent video 👍
I've always liked how angular these units are. It feels like there almost isn't a curved surface to be found! Gives them a really modern - almost sci-fi - look.
The C425 with the M420 was originally a EL unit. It carries its original number. Gotta love the turbo whine on the 420, reminds me of turbos on Alco S series switchers and supercharged Baldwin 606 & 608 locos
Excellent video I enjoyed watching with agood commentary.
6 M420’s became movie stars in Atomic Train, Final Run and Final Destination.
Interesting trains, beautiful scenery and nice narration.
The C425 is also an ex BC Rail unit..
Nice I saw you there
Nice video!
Sweet
The Comfort Cab was invented because of the M420
I hope this locomotive doesn't carry a powerful bomb and destroy everything.
*insert WestRail 642 train crash*
