Discovery Mode is a scam by that brings your popularity score and streams down. They spam your music to random people that listen once, but 90% of the time don't save or add to a playlist. This spamming kicks you out of more algorithms and bring your overall profit down while Spotify keeps taking their percentage.

Why doesn't distrokid allow you to delete your card? I don't have the money right now but they keep taking from my card because I can't delete it from their platform! Very frustrating. Do I really have to reach out to my bank to cancel my card??

I'm not going to touch on how "often" you get paid but EVERY distrokid user should know that their promise to collect 100% of their royalties is only HALF TRUE. Distrokid only collects 100% of STREAMING royalties (Apple, spotify, deezer, tidal, etc...) There's other companies you have to sign up for to collect the other types of royalties. Streaming Royalties Sync Royalties Mechanical Royalties Performance Royalties Digital Performance Royalties For example Mechanical Royalties are your social media streams... like Facebook, tiktok, & Instagram.... To collect those you have to sign up for The MLC, there's no way around it! They are the designated company that distributes those royalties. Some distributors collect it for you but DISTROKID DOES NOT. Soundscan/Soundexchange need to be signed up for as well. Not to mention a P.R.O like ASCAP or BMI. Yes, distrokid "distributes" to every platform for you but they DO NOT COLLECT the royalties for those places. Only for regular streams. Please keep that in mind. This all is garbage. You have to find friend in the company and give away 20% to get not scammed. Or just release with major label, because they are so big so nobody can speak againsts them.

Prime example … look at David guetta… he’s in his late 50s if I’m not mistaken.. still top chart producer …. I’m 38 and started back up last year after only messing around in a daw in my early 20s here and there .. but this time I got serious about it … and a good note about starting later in life is you have the advantage to bring your life lessons and skills to the table … you probably will be more focused mentally and not be easily distracted by young activities that would have otherwise taken you away from production in the early days ! 🎉😊

I freaking love this video. Muah! Now I'm gonna go watch your vids on how to play the game, and then I will show them to my mom. __ I was lucky: my first release brought me 3 mil streams in a year. People just started to add it :D currently at 50k monthly. Sadly my other releases are not that successful, tho later ones are quite okay. I currently try to understand how to market all that properly. Tinkering with the idea of bypassing Spotify completely. Probably gonna start with content tho tbh kinda lost atm. Also gotta start paying for mastering/quality control, I think.
