Thanks for watching the video! If you have any questions, feel free to drop them below! I will give lengthy responses and my own personal analysis on your situation! It's okay, I don't mind, i'm a nerd about this stuff and can talk all day about it!
So we were on an editorial playlist called Smells Like Stream Spirit (fitting of our genre).. plays started to rise, all was good. Then after a few months, suddenly taken off and placed on the editorial playlist French Noise like the same exact day and we’ve been on there ever since (nearly two years now) Here’s the thing - we’re not a French based band nor would I say our music would be considered of the ‘noise’ genre (despite the name of our group). And I’ve reached out to SFA on several occasions to inquire about this and they say they can’t tell me anything about the editor who curates that playlist. Sooooo lol. What would you suggest we do? Ride it out? How could we possibly use this to our advantage? The playlist itself isn’t super well-known and we’re getting very little streams from it on average.
I wouldn’t be too worried about it. It’s perhaps just because of your name. Sometimes that can happen. There’s an editorial I’ve been on called Shounen and it’s just anime music. But the thing is, the song that got added isn’t even about anime. It just as an anime inspired cover art so yeah curators will have different reasons. I think the fact that you got added and have been on there for 2 years now tells me that the playlist just isn’t updated very much. Most of the big ones are updated weekly and that’s why you were eventually taken off the first one. Great story though, cool insight! Thank you! Let me know how that progresses and if you land on anymore!
Very much enjoying your content. It's great to know that somebody with actual experience is helping people out. Congratulations on your channel and your Spotify success. I'll be watching.
Thanks Stevieo! I love talking about marketing so that’s why I made this channel! I talk about this stuff all the time anyway with other artists so I figured why not help people on UA-cam with what I know! Appreciate you! Comment anytime!!
Thanks tsunami! I appreciate you reaching out and commenting, it means a lot! If there’s anything you want answered, let me know and I’ll try my best. I try not to clickbait but somehow the best clickbait is just showing my own receipts!
Thank you. im going to literally copy what you did to get on some of these playlists my $ is funny do i think this may work. Wow, you got a lot of streams!!! I'M struggling smh
Is there a write way to pitch a song? I tried mine the once and it didn't work out and I was so sure I ticked all the box and really described the song pretty well
No, not the same! It’s a version of the editorial that is curated to the listeners listening habits. Think of it like a trial run for an editorial to see how your music performs on there to smaller audiences!

I’m confused on the personalize editorials? This is not the same as user generated playlist right?

So when you first upload a song to spotify they help push your song for free ?
