bit of a necro but thop's barrier is slightly better for godskins since you can parry fireballs. At least in a normal playthrough, I would assume in rl1 you would hard punish the cast.

4:30 if you stay close to him when he does the wind attack he will instead jump into the air and that attack is easy to dodge and punish.

Crystal Sage is very weird. I got him first try on my SL1, even though I usually die multiple times on my normal runs. Is it the RNG? Is it being calm and using your resources carefully? I don't know, but I love the hat

my favorite thing about square off is that it uses so little FP: 6 for light, 8 for heavy. stance damage is 30 light, 40 heavy i switched from longsword to uchigatana on my first playthrough and unsheathe serves a very similar purpose, but i was hurting with how much FP unsheathe uses FP use: 10 for light, 15 for heavy. stance damage: 15 light, 30 heavy. unsheathe is faster, and katanas are just a better weapon in most other respects, but in terms of resources expended, stance damage dealt, etc. unsheathe is a pretty direct downgrade from square off. the one disadvantage square off has is that the heavy attack has a significantly longer startup, whereas unsheathe's strong attack's inactive frames are mostly ending lag. also unsheathe being so fast with such a big range (especially with the nagakiba), it chews through NPC invaders, it's very easy to time it so you can catch them out of their roll.

If you’re fighting malenia, I suggest using Danes cold footwork with dry leaf whirlwind and 80 stats in intelligence and the 40 in strength and dex and you’ve got yourself a very easy way to beat malenia. Also using RWSI, Millicent’s prosthesis, Alexander shard, and shattered stone talisman with divine bird greaves where what I used to first try malenia on ng+2. I stunlocked her for most of phase 1 with the ash of war (make sure it’s dry leaf whirlwind and it’s a cold or bleed infusion whatever you like more but I prefer cold since it proced a lot more.) And for phase two you just have to learn her attack pattern (not simple I know) and spam whirlwind when there’s a large opening (right after she blooms in phase 2, after she slashes once up and once down.) I hope this helped, I was quite overlevelled for her on ng+2 being around level 240. Danes footwork got to be my favourite weapon in the game except for dual ringed fingers, nothing beats that.

It might not be good for bosses but its great for mobs. I liked to keep this hammer in my pocket until certain situations like sniping the bats in the rafters of the shadow keep. I had prayerful strike on it. No FP consumption, no cost ranged attacks with high stagger and on demand healing made this the ultimate utility weapon for me and as long as I was using it well there was nothing in the field I couldn't get through. This wasn't my only weapon though as the best way to play elden ring is to have like 20 hardswaps you can switch to whenever you want. I think tier-list videos and op weapon tutorials have accidentially convinced a lot of the player base that they only ever need to build for and main one weapon.
