    you need chains on it but I was told I only put chains on the back never put them in the front because you can rip up to your front end especially on the small compact tractors.and some weight in the back would help too.

    No problem liking Subscribing and obviously commenting. When I bought my new Kubota BX I made a promise to my wife that I would never drive it with the ROPS down and I would never drive it without putting my seatbelt on and in 2 years I have never broken that promise. I do this every time no matter how long or short the drive is because my wonderful Uncle was killed when his tractor flipped over crushing him and destroying our Hearts.

    I have the same tractor. I always leave my backhoe on for one reason. Traction on the rear wheels. If you don’t have a backhoe, you need some attachment mounted for better traction, anything is better than nothing.

    Hi Dan, I must say that your video on the wood rack was just what I needed...excellent job! The good news is that I adopted your idea and am making similar racks for my firewood, to handle with my new bx2380 i got last year! The bad news is I didn't see your video until I had about 25 chords cut and split. I am retired and do it for exercise, all for my own use and free wood from different places. Lots of free firewood out there if you look for it! So I am trying to move all the wood from piles on the ground to the rack system. I use free pallets i get from the area, free slabwood from a friend who has a sawmill for the framing and free plastic from a ski area in the area that used the plastic as a liner for an ice skating rink in their parking lot over the winter! Only expense is for nails and screws to fasten everything together. It only takes me about 6 min to make a rack once the parts are ready. I use a nail gun for building the racks and tie the racks together once in position for storage with slabs along the sides of the racks, hooking them all together, so they cant fall over during the winter due to ground frost, uneven ground, etc. the volume of wood in the racks is approx 18" x 40" x 5ft, which is approx 2 tenths of a chord. So far I'm about 2/3 done, with about 90 racks. Just wish I had seen your video earlier...but in the future, the rack system is the way to go! Thanks again...your right, thats about all the tractor will handle with rear forks...does not do well with front forks, too heavy, unless you have light wood, or maybe when it is really dry. Also, as you said, have to be careful of tipping over....I keep my hand of the controls and if the tractor starts to tip, i lower the forks to the ground asap! Sorry this is so wordy, I could write alot more...but will try to keep it short. Thanks Again!

    Curious if you remember what bolt size you used to mount these? I picked up a set of weights identical to these today. Also wondering if it would be a good idea to put a strip of rubber or something between the weight and rim to keep the rim from scratching. Have you ever had any trouble with the weights moving inside the rim with only two bolts?

    • @danpinkner4225
      @danpinkner4225 4 роки тому

      I use a carriage Bolt I don't remember the size. Once I tighten up all the bolts nothing moved whatsoever.. Robber would probably be a good idea. Honestly you're going to put them on and never take them off until the day you die.

    • @danpinkner4225
      @danpinkner4225 4 роки тому

      I did use a carriage Bolt but I do not recall the size of it. Rubber would be a good idea but realistically you're going to put them on once and never take them off.

    • @Lackieestatesfarm
      @Lackieestatesfarm 4 роки тому

      Dan Pinkner yeah they will be on to stay. Was just worried with 2 mounting bolts if they would shift inside the rim at all. I didn’t load my tires, just putting the weights on for some added stability. Traded in my old bx2200 for a new bx2680 with a cab this year. No more freezing to death blowing snow in these eastern Canada snow storms

      1/2 inch Carriage Bolt with a couple washers under the nut for Security. Those weights don't budge As Long as You torque It Down. Make sure you orientated correctly so you don't damage the valve stem.

    It is incredible how much snow you can move with the BX series tractors. Since Dec 24, we have had upwards of 300cm (118") of snow here in NL Canada so far. Every bit of it was removed via my 2015 BX25. The only negative I can say about it is the loader height will only stack it 5-6'. I now have a 55" rear blower on order for it. Was thinking about a front mounted blower but the bucket is so convenient for cleanup I refuse to give it up. BTW, I live in a rural area with a 300' driveway and roughly 1/3 acre of parking space to keep clear.

  • @Beav014
    @Beav014 4 роки тому

    See you have an ATV in the garage as well. If a persons main purpose for either a BX or ATV was driveway snow removal, on a 700 foot driveway, would you prefer the quad, or the tractor? I do have a fairly steep grade, I'm guessing 20% give or take a bit, that would have to be plowed up hill because the house is right at the bottom. Also, it's a gravel driveway. The quad would see little use otherwise, where as a Kubota, I could probably find, or make up, a million uses for, Lol!

    • @danpinkner4225
      @danpinkner4225 4 роки тому

      Get the Kubota tractor and a snowblower attachment. In my opinion that would be the right tool for the right job and don't forget tire chains.

    • @Beav014
      @Beav014 4 роки тому

      @@danpinkner4225 Think I'm going to take your advice, and go Kubota. Gonna have to go push box or plow though. I'm on 3 acres, but the way the lots were divided up, the adjacent road allowances, and where my house and garage are built in relation to my driveway, pushing and stacking snow is easier, and more desirable than trying to blow it. Thanks for your advice. You, and many other UA-camrs have me on the right path I feel.
