7:32 A permanently installed winch probably does not make sense for most owners who also use their jeep as a daily driver. I have not bothered installing one. I carry a bring along puller winch with two kinetic ropes for recovery. Yes, less comfortable. But not a constant drain on fuel economy and easy to replace instead of having to deal with repairs. Also, it's more reliable as it is completely independent from the car and its ability to power it. Also a lot cheaper. The one first mod I would have brought up immediately: install skid plates. THAT is by far the most useful mod for a Jeep out of the gate. Other than that, great video.

Do you know if you can treat a brand new jeep with that right off the bat and then still go forward and sprays fluid master on it for overkill on protection?

As for 31 inch tires it's not about the size but about the tread pattern I run a 265/75r16 on both my jeeps that will go thru most stuff that will get bigger tires stuck they are crosswinds by Ling Long they have directional V pattern tread.

I have an 03 tj 4.0. I put the Shell Rotella for gas trucks in on the last oil change and I've been getting better than 20 mpg. I think they quit making it, does anyone know why?

You've got rust under that vynil flooring. How bad you'll have to find out. If those seat bolts are rust then so are your floor pans.

My biggest mistake owning a TJ was that I hopelessly hooked in 1996 when I saw the showroom, "concept." I feel so in love with it that I came weekly to see the TJ. When the dealership finally decided to sell the concept because the production TJ's were coming in late 1996, I bought the beautiful showroom TJ. She has a few options that were not standard for 1997. She had a Dana 44, leather wrapped steering wheel, the Mopar stainless steel grill, BF Goodrich 31x 9.5 R 15 All Terrains, Smittybuilt stainless tube bumpers, and best of all, she is yellow! Today, the RMS Stargazer has 446,000 miles and rising. My mistake is that I can not part with her. I have no other vehicle. She is lifted, and has lots of extra articulation, and is agonising on freeways. But, on the back roads, offroad, trails, and logging roads, she is bliss. I love you Stargazer. I love you forever.

Castrol GTX 10W30 conventional oil with K&N oil filter is a great way to go. 6 quarts in my I6 engine.

I can tell you I would keep the hard top unless you live in California. Hard Top is less noiser and you get better protection. Also you cannot rent a small trailer from example U-Haul with soft top

One issue with the TJ, is not truly an issue, but be aware of it. The TJ will get the infamous AMC, imitation diesel, rattle. Around 160,000 miles, the AMC rattle became more pronounced when the engine is cold. It does not really effect performance in any measurable way. Once the engine is warm, it hums so very smooth.

Beautiful MJ. It's a keeper. Back in the late 90's we were in high school. A buddy of mine had one, 2.5l, 2wd, 5 speed. We put a lincoln locker in the rear and had a blast in that little truck. You'd be amazed how tuff these little rigs are.

Have a Jeep Wrangler 2004 Sport with 95,000 miles. From Michigan. But I stored it in the winter. Had to replace the rear main seal,valve cover gasket, fuel pump, fuel cap, fuel pump, heater vent, plugs, rotors, Drums, high flow stainless exhaust, brake master cylinder and brake power booster. It’s an automatic. So I just ordered a new higher capacity transmission pan and filter kit. Going to replace the pion seals as well.

For real I saw a slight improvement in my MPG on my Gladiator when I got my tonneau cover. It's only noticeable on extended drives on the interstate but it is noticeable.

Fellow Montanan. Used to have an 06 TJ (2012-2019), it was awesome. Have had a 2014 JKU for five years. JKU works for me with the larger storage capacity and longer wheelbase. WillI go for a JL in the future? No, for the reasons you articulate in the video.

The problem with spraying a coating over metal is that the coating will eventually chip from rocks / pebbles etc chipping away at the coating. So unless you are able to periodically check the entire undercarriage you’re going to have rust eventually

I have a 2002 jeep Wrangler TJ and have death wobble but can't locate the issue the only trigger is when I get to 55 mph. Bumps turns ect have no effect just hitting that speed thoughts? BTW uts stock no lift.

Bought a 1982 CJ7 Laredo new,still have it. Still drive it. A few modifications, 79 wagoneer axles, spring over suspension, wagoneer drive train engine transmission, full roll cage, 95 yj tub. Fun to drive on the street and offroad. Love to have a LJ.

Bought an 1989. The 4.0 was a tank. Wish I still had her as much as I had my 1988 Ford turbo coup. Last I knew she had 189,000 miles on it with only a wheel bearing needed.

Bought my TJ brand new in 1999. Still driving it to this day… Ironically, I’ve had every one of these issues except rust. Once they all got fixed, it ran like a top, and still does to this day. Turns 25 years old this month! 🤙
