Meifi treating Tony is not good for her to be doing, BUT Therapy between Meifi & Tony is FANTASTIC for the show💯🙌
So true!!!
Depression can cause weight gain, insomnia, comfort eating and other pattern disruption can cause sudden weight increase. Elliott is right to discuss this also considering body image issues women struggle with.
Weight gain could be a result of depression, but it just seemed secondary to the issue at hand. Also, Melfi is a doctor herself she would know this. It felt odd for Elliott to focus in on it at that moment, and shift the conversation back toward that issue.
@@WereintheBasement Point is weight gain is more complex than too many buckets of KFC. Elliott's job is to recognise and if anything force Melfi to admit the source of the problem she can't always see.
Yes, I just don't think focusing on her weight gain was the right avenue to take to get her to recognize/see the source of her problem. The connection between gaining weight because of having increased stress, depression, anxiety is obvious to her, Elliott, and the viewer. She practically admitted to a conflict of interest in her having Tony as a patient again to Elliot. She herself was confused as to why Elliot brought up her weight gain, and his only advice with regards to it was "watch your sugar intake." It felt as if Elliot was pivoting to a lesser issue that was stemming from the greater issue at hand.
Have you experienced a panic attack? The anxiety makes everything seems impossible or far away, while your visual focus and other senses weaken.
"let's play some shuffleboard." -- old Jack
"Who did she think he was talking about?" Inara thought Mal was the hero. It shows what she thinks about Mal and doesn't think about Jayne. He's a man now. See his extreme mansprreading at the end.
The best thing about thia episode, is that it gives Jayne some much-needed character development. He's actually capable of feeling emotions, and has an introspective side.
Hearing Cantonese spoken in a redneck accent never fails to make me laugh!
You're gonna be hearing "The Hero of Canton, the man they call Jayne!!", for days, now.
It's a very catchy tune!
Relationships: they were going to ba slow burn, but then they got canceled mid-season. 😓
Fess isn't a loser. I expect he didn't fancy paying for sex, and being the Magistrate's son, there may not have been anyone of sufficient social status to please his father. Not everyone loses their virginity early, and it seems like his home life is perhaps...abusive.
You're right he proved himself to be a pretty decent fella by the end of it.
Religion: Both American and Chinese cultural influences made it to this system. Variations of Christianity and Buddhism... We saw Mal kiss a cross in episode 1, Shepherd Book mentioned saying grace, in "Safe" we saw fundamentalists use Bible verses to justify trying to burn River for being a witch...
I think the ships fly with a bit of antigravity assistance. They appear to have artificial gravity on the ships, down is always down, no floating around while inside. So there could be a drive component that, while not strong enough to propel the ship, might lessen its effective mass... 😉
"Jaynestown": Mal takes a smuggling job on Canton, and Inara takes on a mission.
Janet Fraiser yes she will be a staple
Dr. Frasier, I'll have to remember that name!
this is the last of the growing pains i would say. though there will be a little cheese here and there going forward that should simply be appreciated like you would with old Star Trek, you start to get a lot more worldbuilding, deeper lore, and good adventure episodes from here on.
This is one that I appreciate but often skip on rewatch. O'Neill pulled a little Kirk here, I don'tremeber Kirk getting an STD though. Then again, Star Trek medicine is much more advance lol. This is one of the many times we will see Goa'uld tampering with humans to create the ultimate host. As always, I enjoy the acting and the group dynamic. This is one episode I would have liked to see a follow up to what happens after their interference. There are some GREAT episodes that show catastrophes after their interference, but not enough that simply touchnase. "If you put it on a spaceship..." that question will be answered... The next episode introduces some of the most important aspects of lore.
The next two episodes have tons of lore, and a big character focus in the one after that.
It's possible Pelops was killed by another Goa'uld, or he might still be out there but just not that interested in his older experiments.
2:33 in fairness to Sam, a woman knows she'll have 8 or 9 months warning to learn her share the birthing mysteries. Also, midwives were a thing before doctors in hospitals because humans are not made to give birth; obstetrics is a medical specialty.
Looked nothing like Richard Dean Anderson looks like now :D
This show is awesome!
Yeah this eppisode sucks
11:15 Fact but not so fun❗ Here is where the not only Sam but the actual actress Amanda had a bad concution an actually lost conjusness and that clip was used in the series, so actually yes she is out.
03:10 They just explained about the iris/shield and you missed and no it did not took 10 seasons to explain it. They liderally had scientists and US Air force colsutants on staff making the series and theydid try to do all the sciency stuff correctly.
PSPOLERS: Also yes they will visit other planeta by spaceships too in future and mutch mutch mutch more.
This is the censored version as when it aired at the selection the woman were fully naked and all was showed. So it had R rating, later episodes had PG13 so later the pilot/first episode also was changed a bit.
In most scifi shows, aliens are either humans with extra powers; or a human civilisation with some emotion or philosophy turned up to 11. Here, we see a race whose worldview is really alien; who don't understand what death means to us. And I don't think I've seen any other show do that so well.
That's a fair point!
That's a fire thumbnail, never even seen this channel before but it caught my attention right away, good job
Thank you! Started back in May, hoping my edits and overall quality continue to improve as we go! Thanks for the support!
Another sidebar episode, but it was nice to be in a different scenery on the show, however I’m ready to get back to the real world in Jersey☺️😉
Can't wait to be back in Jersey! I enjoy a lot of aspects of this episode, seeing the wives interacting and the tension with Tony and Carms relationship building, but definitely a sidebar episode.
you don't know who MacGyver is? man i'm old.
I knew of MacGyver, but had no clue Richard Dean Anderson was the actor who played him. 😅😅😅🤣
Fun Fact - A Brogan (from Brogan Adjustment") is a leather dress/work shoe from the UK region that's high in the ankles. yet heavy at the bottom. In Ireland, they are sometimes called Brogues; so whenever you watch WWE and see Sheamus kick off a lad's head with a Brogue Kick, he's giving someone the Paulie Walnuts DVD treatment.
I've used this method on many things and I don't recommend it, but it definitely works in some instances. Had no clue about the origins of the expression 🤣
Nice. This is a highly underrated show. Great comedy writing. And Nealon steals the show...
The humor seems to be right up our alley!
Fun fact they do clip shows later in the series that show the best moments to catch fans up. They like showing that flying city from this episode, BUT it's not the same city, they redid the graphics for the clips, lol.
This episode is why I named my rifle Vera. I have 3 patches on my rifle bag. One Independents flag. Mal's pistol, paired and crossed, with the words, "Shiny, Let's Be Bad Guys". And Jayne's rifle, with the word "It Is My Favorite Gun. I Call It Vera".
Twenty years and more gone by, and I have yet to find a situation in which to threaten someone with violence by my pretty floral bonnet. Also, I need to buy a pretty floral bonnet.
I have faith in you!
Lackluster is a negative comment. It means it is subpar. "lacking in vitality, force, or conviction; uninspired or uninspiring." The salvage guys were working with Saffron. "She really gets the job done."
Yep. It’s the characters, who are written well, but more importantly, well acted out. The chemistry between the cast is rare and it’s such a shame the series ended like it did. I’ve heard that Nathan had a lot to do with facilitating the camaraderie. In a way he really was the captain of the crew. Conclusion? Heck no. Just left adrift. 😑 The movie does tie up the River story, so there’s that. Even people who are devoted fans tend to agree that the first few episodes are not as good as the latter ones. My favorites are 6-11, most favorite is 8. Enjoy it while it lasts!
This show is a blast to watch, I'm always a little surprised every time an episode ends because the time really does fly by.
" I knew you let her kiss you." 😂
"Our Mrs. Reynolds": Malcolm Reynolds is MARRIED!?;)
🎉🍾👰🏻♂️ it was a beautiful ceremony!
I agree, it’s the characters that are the special bit. The show itself a case-of-the-week style tv series. But at least every episode was where a bit different genre or different focus. Just sit back and enjoy your time with these nine.
Babylon 5 is on my list of sci-fi series to watch, I'm excited to start it! I'm definitely enjoying Firefly, it's a shame we will never get to see it to its fullest potential.
Wish I could time travel to see you guys reacting to future episodes. There's good stuff coming. The flashes of humor in this one are just a hint of just how well the writers and actors are going to be at doing funny stuff. Dean Anderson is a master of understated snark. The comedy does not happen that often but when it does..............the writers and the cast just shine. Although was this episode really that light? I mean, they died. Dead. Dead. Died.
Well lighter than "Cold Lazarus" at least. lol
Without any spoilers i will say this is a canon episode. It also shows what 1 of the main objective is since you can tell Earth is way behind in technology.
Armin Shimerman was also memorably Principal Snyder in Buffy: The Vampire Slayer (TV series). The Nox is one of my favourite episodes from season 1, I like the parable elements and the reveal at the end never gets old. Also great that SG-1 didn't fall into the lazy trope of all aliens being evil and bad, there are malevolent aliens and there are benevolent aliens.
Top 10 episode from me🔥
Kleen!!!!!! We missed you Monday, ya had us a little worried! Definitely a top 10 episode, so many great lines from this episode.
@@WereintheBasement Sorry🤭, Very Busy☺️😉
Ah madone, I know how that is! Hopefully not too much agita! ❤️
One of the many Star Trek actors that cross over. Can't wait for you to meet Woosley, favorite on Voyager and favorite reoccurring on SG. The Nox are pretty important lore wise. Soo much shade at Sam lol. The kid likes shiny things lol. I feel like earth's mythology is full of gods and demigod that need specific items to accomplish things. Each Goa'uld portrays itself as a god, so it's not like there is one all powerful god. Season 1 is ALOT of lore, world, and team building. Still enjoyable, and one of the better Sci-Fi first seasons. I think you guys are really going to enjoy episodes 10-13. Pretty much the rest of the season is good-great minus a couple.
It feels like we're finally starting to get into the swing of the show. I'm excited to see other advanced aliens/races. And I can't wait until we get to some space shit! Also, all shade thrown at Sam is out of love! 🤣
@@WereintheBasement not really spoilers about space stuff but might be........... you do get some space stuff towards the end of the season, but, what I love about it, the show follows humanity's technological progression. Full on Star Wars type battles are a bit off. Even with the introduction of more space stuff SG-1 remains a boots on the ground team for the most part. Atlantis has a greater concentration of Star Wars type battles.
This was an enjoyable episode. It gave the fact other advanced races are out there. Hopefully it is reality today provided any aliens are friendly instead of dominant.
I loved seeing new advanced races, can't wait to be introduced to more. I'm growing closer to the team every episode, and learning more lore. I can't wait until we get to some actual space shit. Let's hope if / when we make first contact they're like The Nox and not the Goa'ulds.
You will see children used many times in the series for the plot/story and the rational for it.
100% no one died
"Here are the Bing Girls!" What a great line delivery by the emcee
Idk how that guy keeps getting work 🤣
i dont think the kid at the party died, he OD but he was going into ambulance when Tony got there. If someone died they would have the yellow tape up.
