Sewing Vintage Style Sailor Trousers using Top Down Center Out - Plus Size Edition
You have a tiny waist in comparison. Thanks for being this brave. I’m about to start my “me-made” journey on a fat old 70 year old body. You’ve given me hope!🇦🇺💙❤
You're so welcome! I hope it gives you a new appreciation for your body 🖤
its looking great
Schwing 🔥🔥🔥
Ok that just did things to me...
Thanks for sharing your real fitting journey with trousers. I often find the mental work is the hardest part. Currently I am working on making trousers for me and my daughter. Have got the curved waistband fitting. Next step legs. Love your sailor pants and those buttons are so cute.
Thank you so much! I hope yours are successful (I'm sure they will be) x
Yay for you! Well done. Thanks for introducing this method to us. I am so happy for you.
You're so welcome x
BEAUTIFUL JOB...thank you for the inspiration ❤️
Thank you! You're so welcome! X
The turned out beautiful. I do alterations, it looks like the front of the coat where the skirt meets the bodice needs some half inch horse hair braid sewn in to give it some support so it does not do the flappy thing. Amazing job!
That's a great idea! Thank you! X
I have been sewing for decades and NEVER sew pants for myself bc of fitting issues. I actually bought a super nice jeans pattern a couple years ago now but I haven't tried it bc afraid of failure. By watching your video I now have confidence to try pants again, thank you so much!
You're so welcome! 🖤
Definitely looking like a HPOA 🔥
Haha, thank you! 🖤
Your trousers turned out fabulously and they look wonderful on you. Way to go on making your first pair and fitting them so well to your body! When I'm ready to up my skill level by making trousers, I'm definitely going to use the TDCO method. Thanks for your video; I appreciated your honesty and found it inspiring.
Thank you and I'm so glad you found it helpful! 😊
I thoroughly enjoyed this. I have made myself a few pairs of trousers and they are always too big, but I have a fear of making them too small and add a bit. I have just finished making pietra pants. I really took my time, made sure that I didn't just add anything and they are still too big. Currently pulling them apart to try and fix. But I have been watching the crooked hem and her series on tdco. I have watched it through twice. So you have given me more confidence to try. So thank you.
You're so welcome! I hope you manage to crack it! ☺️
You look fantastic
Thank you 😘
You do look amazing! Would you consider doing a hair tutorial? I dress mostly 40s/50s but have bottom of butt length hair. I haven't found a way to style my hair to go with the clothes. Your hair is always on point. 🌻🍄
Absolutely! I wish I had that much hair. I use extensions. I will do a tutorial as soon as I get settled in my new place 🖤
You look stunning.
Thank you 🖤
Doesn't matter if the lighting is terrible. You look smashing in that dress.
Thank you! 🥰
I love that cape but i think I'd leave the last/lower button off. Maybe covered buttons would be an alternative.
Bonita ❤
Thank you for sharing. I have been on the same TDCO journey but am at the point where I have put them aside in frustration for a couple of days as you did. Your perseverance and happy ending has inspired me to carry on.
You'll get there! X
Okay wait, I have stopped it at 11:45 because you have said all these words that I would normally think as I hear them-Nope, that's Portuguese, can't understand that! But I understand everything you are saying and I am learning how to take measurements so that I can get a bit more brave to make a shirt. Wow. You are amazing. Thank you.
Thank you! I do try to keep things simple but I fail sometimes 😅
Que bonita sos ❤
You have given me strength to accept my body in my older years and I thank you. You are so real and funny. I'm so glad I found your channel. I keep trying to sew better but still in the baby step phase :) Thank you. Take care.
I'm so happy to be helping people! Just keep sewing, and you'll be surprised how fast you improve 🖤
Your voice is so pretty. I'll just keep watching your videos to learn sewing but such a relaxing voice. Thank you. I hated my voice but making some videos now, I know I'm happy so I don't worry anymore what I sound like. Anyway, thank you. Take care.
That's so sweet, thank you! 🖤
That first medieval pattern dress is so cute on you. This beginner enjoyed watching. I'm not familiar with the pattern, but I'm living in a 1940s world. I like to hand sew and I'm solid in the head when it comes to understanding how to follow most of a pattern. But I keep trying so I can fake it til I make it. BTW, I like your little sayings. They are fun. Take care.
That's so sweet, thank you! I'm happy to help if you have questions ☺️
I started this the other day and fell in love with the pants pattern. They look adorable! This video is one I'm saving.
Thank you so much! 🖤
Turned out cute.
Thank you!
I enjoy hearing your enthusiasm and hearing the history of making outfits. I would love a video talking about how you have felt about the reactions and feedback from others on your outfits and content.
Nice image of your cat 🐈.
Thanks for sharing yourself on the internet on UA-cam and Instagram. I like sharing your content to others that I think will enjoy your content. I enjoy seeing your fashion taste. I am excited to see what you will do for Halloween.
Thanks for sharing!!
I like how your hair looks style wise in the 3rd outfit probably the most but there are so many images where I love how your hair looks.
Do you have a favorite out of these outfits or hairstyles?
I love the white and red polka dot one the most 🥰
Thanks for sharing your fashion taste, talents, smile on the internet. Hope that sharing in the internet has been rewarding for you. I bet you did not even realize how positive the feedback would be from sharing your fashion talents online.
Thank you! I didn't expect anyone to watch to be honest 😅
@@velvetycleopatra Thanks for sharing. You are different from other people in the plus size community based on the Vintage clothing, the Egyptian expertise, the fact you make these outfits.
Coat is amazing!! I want one now. Phd? Smart as well as beautiful then? Wow!
Haha thank you! 🥰
You look so cute in those dresses. I recently made a form fitting dress which is different for me. But it made me feel really pretty! Good luck with the move! Moving is awful 😞
Thank you! I've moved so many times 😣
Congratulations!!!! Regarding your phd assessment, your car passing MOT and finishing your beautiful coat!! I know my comment is 3 months later, but I just saw your video. Again congratulations!!! 🎇
Thank you so much! 🖤
Baggy clothes make big women look so much bigger than they really are. Wear clothes that you like, not what "fashion gurus" Say you should wear.
I totally agree. I hate wearing baggy clothes and I don't find them comfortable anyway!
Thank you, those pants look fantastic. I’m now going to try this method and those pants for myself. I cant tell you how greatful I am for your ground work and tutorial for this method of fitting to my shaped body with real curves. The shorter arms comments had me yelling yes yes yes i have the same pinning the side, at last somebody else who understands!
You're so welcome! I just wanted to help people like me. I was very fortunate to have my dressform because I could not have done it otherwise 😅
Love both of these fabrics, and the dress choice ❤
Thank you! 🥰
Goddess as always!!! And Cleo making a special appearance was like the end but in Marvel movies 🤩🤩🥳🥳🥰🥰
I had to give the audience what they want 😅🖤
Love these dresses on you! The prints are awesome! I used to follow you on IG, but have since gone off social media, so I’m very happy I get to keep up with your sewing adventures via UA-cam now! :) I’m going to be sewing the Sophia dress for myself shortly and was wondering, did you have issues with installing the neckline elastic? The steps for it look a bit tricky, and makes me anxious cause I’m scared I’m gonna stretch it out. Thank you!
It was quite fiddly, and I had to add the gathering because it wouldn't lay flat without it. I'm not sure if I stretched it out or not. I tried to do it without the elastic once, but that didn't work either 😅
@@velvetycleopatra good to know! I’ll just be sure to go slow and steady. Thanks for the reply! :)
The Egyptian print is very on brand, but I just ADORE that black and white. I may have to see about figuring out shipping...that shop is great!
The black and white is my favourite. I have enough left to make a top 😍
I love your eye makeup! It really makes your eyes pop! 👁👁 The dresses look great! I love those prints! Good luck with your upcoming move!
Thank you so much!
Oh WooW! That is a gothic look in the eye makeup. It gives nice Halloween vampire vibes.
Well done and interesting video. I'm curious how much time you spent making them. Did you get it all done on the same day? At the speed I destroy clothes, I can see the upside of having a few patterns you can knock out quickly.
Yes, I made them both in a day. This is a very quick pattern.
Witchy plus Egypt? Your fabric choices speak to me and you look amazing
Thank you! I'm glad you love them too! 🖤
