I still believe it's a problem strive as a whole, the damage overall seems so much higher and characters flimsier than in the older games that anyone who has higher damage is seen as obnoxious.

honestly, as a slayer main myself, i find some of my own plays where i just annihilate the opponent extraordinarily unfair. in fact- ill usually root for the other player in matches. slayer fits the kind of character i enjoy playing perfectly- and i honestly wish he would get the hc treatment. because- to be honest- i feel like ive never had to learn a matchup besides, like, 2h with zato. and thats it

UPDATE on this guy he is still fighting low level players on floor 10 rn and he refuses to match up with anyone higher than lvl 200

Im a Chipp main and not that good at the game so Im watching this to learn what not to do! The addition of conversations and combos that do work is really helpful

Sol needed that HDP loop nerfed. That’s one of the most boring loops with unnecessarily high reward. 5k nerf is debatable but I do think they force HDP being the central part of his kit is a really poor design choice

It feels terrible going from last patch to this because (at least to me) Strive didn’t NEED a big patch Going from a state of the game where everyone felt good to play with a few outliers that were either a bit too weak or a bit too strong to one where certain characters are in a tier of their own is just demotivating to anyone who doesn’t play those characters Strive patches work their best when they’re brought out in small batches so we can see what tweaks work and which don’t, rather than trying to change multiple variables at once and hoping they stick.

The fact I got GGS to main potemkin a month after potemkin got his kara canceled is so sad 😭

I just want Axl to get his Rainwater vaccum and Sickle being a charge move back. He feels wrong without it. Dunno about Pot's Karas but he might need something else to give his gameplay more depth.

Kinda they just did too much for each character but the main problems imo are sin and ram because now they have guard crush off of simple pokes.

I main Ky and I still like the patch despite the nerf so far.

this patch really goes to show that competitive games should have a separate open beta test environment that any player of the main game is free to try. You hop in, play until you've had your fill or until you get too frustrated, leave your feedback, and go back to playing the live version of the game you're comfortable with until everything is evened out for a full release. You're always going to get backlash for any small amount of change, so doing so much at once on a live version is going to be very overwhelming.

Arcsys needs to get off their ass and buff Zato. Also can Jack O actually do damage without a 30 hit combo. And ABAs 'counter' needs to act more like Baikens, and not a 'why does this input exist' type parry.

The Pot changes were definitely... depressing at the start of the patch. I miss kara's still, they were a great show of skill for the player and hella satisfying to pull off. But, I think this change was okay. Nothing was gonna make me switch off this character in the first place, I spent 400 hours in this game already, 300 of which are exclusively Pot. A complete Potemkin rework coming out almost 4 years into the game's lifespan which removes his most differentiating and character defining tech in this game...makes absolutely no sense. I'm glad that there are Pot mains out there that like this change, I really am, but after having this version of Pot for a month I can confidently say that this character is far less interesting for me. They made him easier to play, harder to lose with, and way more boring. Previous routes required me to grind execution for literal days worth of time to get down perfectly, whereas the new routes I had down in less than 24 hours. I don't enjoy playing him and as far as I can tell next to nobody enjoys playing against him. And the damage...don't even start with the damage. This character's new damage numbers make the whole "increased number of overall interactions thing" sound like a total joke. Certain MUs (Pot-Bridget for example) have been all but completely trivialized by Pot's sheer damage output. Converting a CH cS into 6HS loops in the corner will leave most opponents with less than half health easily while being extremely easy to land if you're ready for it. At least Potemkin's most damaging routes beforehand were gate-kept by difficult execution, making them both satisfactory to land and (arguably) less frustrating to get hit with. I haven't even mentioned things like PB armor, HFB parrying, increased Buster and HPB damage, the FDB changes including better reward on a flicked projectile, and BWA, which all make Pot extremely annoying to fight and keep out. They made him easier to play, gave him better health, better options, better damage, better pressure, but took away his sauce. And by taking away his sauce, they've taken away both his identity, and the respect people had for this character at higher levels. I'll probably continue to play him since he's still Potemkin at the end of the day, but I'm really holding out hope that Arcsys reverts these changes, or at the very least lower his overall damage and revert the BMF changes.

Season 4 was good ideas with awful execution, hope they can really spin it around soon great vid!

Thanks for the video, it's good to see someone not dooming or crying about season 4 but finding good things and looking into the future. I think Pot's changes are really good. I think his identity being based on my mechanic that isn't necessarily tied to him is not really good. When it comes to kara-cancels, you either know how to do them and use them in the match or you don't, there are no drawbacks except risk of failing it (which comes to 0 the more you play), so this is the choice without choice. And I think in the current patch his new routes through HFB are really cool and maybe even more difficult than karas.

Still not sure why they gutted Millia

I'm excited for the future but I got to admit the luster of this patch is fading for me pretty quick. I main Sin and he went from pretty good to breaking the geneva conventions, he is waaaaay simpler to use, just use 1 more bar of stamina off of any follow-up gives you a full meterless combo AND they all guard crush, it used to be that if you frame trapped with the follow up and get a counter hit, THEN you got massive reward. The nerf to his stamina is literally negligible, I seriously don't notice any difference and even then it's not like it matters, because he gets so much mileage out of red wild assault and red/purple rc he just gets to have his cake and eat it too (I guess that's in character lol). But even celestial players have started dodging me and I actually kind of feel guilty for using him, it's a lot less stimulating. Maybe this is the hipster in me but I generally don't like playing top tier characters and I really hope he catches a nerf soon, and what worries me is that no one seems to be talking about how crazy he is now. It sucks but I genuinely have gotten less enjoyment from the game this patch.
