The books of Skyrim are often overlooked. Rarely on our adventures do we find the time to curl up in front of a campfire with some charred skeever, mead, and good book. So, I've read this book for you! I'll be slowly uploading these short reads of Skyrim books. I am not a lore expert, so expect pronunciation mistakes. I'm also not a narrator, just a gal who loves gaming and audiobooks, so don't...

Outer Wilds - The story of the Nomai
Переглядів 36 тис.4 роки тому
THIS VIDEO CONTAINS SPOILERS! Outer Wilds is an extraordinary game which is incredibly rich in lore. I often struggled to keep track of it all, so I am making this short series to piece the nearly 300,000 year long tale together. In this video (part 1), we explore the story of the Nomai. In part two, we discuss the Hatchling. Linktree: linktr.ee/misscherries Twitch: www.twitch.tv/miss_cherries ...
Was hoping Chance would change her mind and the two became a famous adventuring pair.
I thought all the stars will eventually go supernova and the only way to rebirth life was by observing the eye so the universe will die if no one observed it, that’s why the eye was constantly calling for someone to observe it. It never occurred to me that by observing the eye you set the ending in motion?!
When I read this I was like damn. These books are awesome.
this is beyond fantastic, thank you for tha amazing storytelling!
I don't understand why they burnt only some slide reels and not all of them? can someone explain me why they did that?
Probably because they didn't care for the other side reels, only the ones who make them out to be the bad guys I guess
i love the story of barenziah so much, thank you!! btw your voice is BEAUTIFUL
I was seeking a video to "finish" the DLC. I really don't have the guts to do it myself
Rip wuffins 😢😊
since no one has commented yet, poor wuffens 😢
This was always my favorite bit of lore from the games. Thank you for reading these. I just got skyrim for my switch and love listening to you read as i play ❤
The saddest thing about Solanum is that she is just like you: a young explorer, learning about the universe, who lost absolutely everything on her first real journey. But because of the work of her people, and of you, the memory of her is allowed to live on.
awesome!
The Skyrim books are so underrated, it’s fun to collect them in game and build up a little library 📚
Great summary!
Yoo didn't this guy kinda have her best friend's tongue ripped out and tried to surprise her with another lover's head on a rope?
you create a very good content
A truly exceptional game, no hand-holding, a cairfully crafted experience whilst respecting the player's agency and intelligence.
Finally! This is all so well made! How come people flock to other videos that don't explain the story this well at all? You deserve more visibility!
I just have to say it loud, I think the scale in the game world would be much bigger for The Stranger, but because it's a small game, they kept it small enough to house a few people instead of making a huge, empty space like some games do. SO while the game shows a couple houses and bodies, in actuality it would have been much larger.
26:39 They wouldn't need to be able to "cancel" a supernova, once they had the information they need they would just not fire the sun station and not cause the supernova in the first place
I chose to remember the prisoner but in the after credit scene I didn’t have a new speciesor campfire. Only that cave on the left came up.
You mentioned the Sun gaining mass and its gravity increasing but I don't think that's correct, that extra mass would have to come from somewhere. Great videos though.
i think the saddest part is that "The Prisoner" is doomed to stay trapped in his vault until the end of time. Even if you free him, you have to still die to reset the loop, undoing the rescue. Although, as i type this i wonder why the Prisoner never just blew his own fire out 280,000 years ago.
Thanks! I was close to Finish, but now i understand! Thank you!!!
Awesome, definitely the best game I've ever played, thank you so much.
Kinda dumb that they thought they could outlast the death of the universe. Moving away from a supernova is one thing but escaping the universes death along with a big bang is wild.
There is something I don’t quite understand. The Nomai had warping technology prior to warping to this solar system. They actually got there by warping. The warp core on their ship seems to have a black hole and white hole tech built in. So, why was the phenomenon of arriving at the white hole a bit early new to them? If they were already advanced enough in the tech to build it into their ship as the main navigation system, why was the phenomenon new to them?
This is a good video.
I enjoy ur voice
I like to think in the ending where the Hatchling becomes trapped on the Quantum Moon with Solanum for the rest of time, the two eventually end up learning their languages, and just talk for a while.
I think I got another you broke space time ending that I never saw, I was in dark bramble going in the node after the escape pod 3 where you are supposed to go silently to avoid the fish. However, I didn't know about that yet so they rushed to me and I went backwards while they were pushing me inside the node, I went backwards and at this very moment he ate me, I guess that because I went backwards, the fish ate me but I was also present in the space of the other node
Best lore explanation ❤, so clear and easy to understand. Love this game and it's ARG but didn't connect all the clues together.
Considering that there's approximately 400 years of unremembered loops, one has to wonder just how many different adventures the Hatchling had. Sure, 22 minutes isn’t nearly enough time to learn EVERYTHING in one go. But maybe there's some wild stories that will never be told...
Imagine an AU where the Hatchling of the Probe Loop decides on a whim to follow the wayward probe as their first adventure, all because it looked neat. This subsequently meant they found the eye of the universe and started the next universe entirely without the need of being trapped in a time loop to begin with.
According to the probe launcher, the probe was launched the ATP reset time ablut 2 million times. That comes out to just avout 400ish years of 22 minute loops. The question I have: before they paired with the statue, did the Hatchling have the same adventure over and over? Or was their journey a little different each time?
Before the (naturally occured) supernova triggered the ATP, the story is completely linear. The Hatchling was a coming of age hearthian who, 22 minutes before the supernova, was taking a nap before going to space for the first time. In that 22 minutes interval who knows what things the Hatchling discovered (not a lot of things given the little time, imo), but one thing is for certain: that they forgot everything once they died at the end of each loop. The loop starts once the original supernova occurs, so the Hatchling technically went to space for the first time for 9 million times
I like your story telling videos :)
Okay ive been wondering, if a hearthian and a nomai fought, who would win? Like good old hand-in-hand combat. No jetpacks, no fancy writing staff, no space suits. Who wins?
You sound so familiar idk why lol but great video
I was actually pretty confused but the storytelling and origins of the Nomai makes a lot more sense now. I thought they succeeded with the sun station causing the supernova but what actually occurred was the significant time passing causing the natural nova which ultimately caused the whole process and continuous loop. Thanks for clearing that up. Well put together video.
two things that don't work for me: 1 - how does the sun station send the energy necessary to ash twin if it is destroyed every time the sun turns into a red giant? 2 - why didn't the nomai just leave a beacon on the quantum moon and find the eye through it's six location?
The sun station didn't work at all. The loop is started only because the sun naturally exploded, which started the Ash Twin Project
So im guessing the interloper also killed these guys (irl) besides the prisoner as his prison was underwater?
Very well explained! Loved it
First up, GREAT video! I wasn't keen on this game for the longest time, but suddenly i just couldn't put it down. I've finished it now (not the dlc) and while i couldn't piece the story together due to my impatience to just play the game, this video alongside the official wiki are bringing out a sharp emotional response. I'm especially sensitive to the longing that some of the nomai expressed to their missing friends and relatives. I have no reason for this, but for some reason it really brought out my emotions. Fuck...
The only thing I hate about this game is deep space and piloting a 3D space kinda scared me. It's that all of the bodies are so small that it feels like you're just going to fall off them or cant land
It’s Nice to to see how Solanum sees you as a friend despite everything
I think the tracking module falls into giants deep core when it fires and breaks apart, not before hand. The probe was only to ever fire once, when the ATP is activated and was overpowered to escape the suns gravity and find the eye in far orbit (causing it to break up). The landing in the ‘downward’ spout was just bad luck, or rather bad timing of the sun deciding ti supernova.
Beautiful video. Whenever I finish a game I always like to hear a recap of the story to remember the whole journey, in this one I also learned some small details that I missed about the DLC so thank you. (I also got a little emotional listening to their story with your soothing voice instead of silently experiencing it🤫🫶🏻)
Nomai children's writing being bigger, clumsier and less refined than those of adults is just another great detail I missed about this game.
isnt it different if you launch your scout into the eye?
22:05 i believe from my understanding, they made another tracking module. You can find that in the probe cannon, it is the room that had been destroyed in the probe cannon.
This game is so good. I just found it and im mad i hadnt found it earlier. Incredible game.
