If You Come, it's love! Translated scenes from Ganbare Goemon Kurunarakoi Ayashigeikka no Kuroikage
This video features all of the major cutscenes from "Ganbare Goemon: Kurunarakoi! Ayashigeikka no Kuroikage" ("Go For it Goemon: If you Come, It's love! The Black Shadow of the Ayashige Family") and provides a translation with a hint of localization.
"Ganbare Goemon: Kurunarakoi! Ayashigeikka no Kuroikage" released in is December 1998 for PS1, and today is infamous as one of the "weaker" Goemon titles (mainly for it's gameplay). One thing it excelled at was it's strong sense of Goemon character. I feel the title deserves a tad more appreciation on this front, which is what inspired me to put together this video.
Like many Goemon titles, "Ganbare Goemon: Kurunarakoi! Ayashigeikka no Kuroikage" never got a Western release - this video aims to provide Goemon fans a reference of what is said during cutscenes & provide a better understanding of the story as a whole.
Game footage was captured by on original hardware (upscaled through an XRGB Mini Framemeister), with a few additional original graphics created by myself.
Special thanks to gecha for some localization assistance!

Character designer, Koichi Ogawa, has said that Impact's look was heavily inspired by the costume used to represent Goemon in Famicom advertisements. This video is dedicated...
Ukiyo-Goe - A brief look at Ukiyo-e in Goemon games
Переглядів 1,9 тис.2 роки тому
Throughout Goemon games there's quite a few representations of Ukiyo-e artworks, so we've highlighted some for you here. Ukiyo-e is a genre of Japanese art which started in the 17th century. An artist would draw their piece then get it carved into a woodblock allowing it to be replicated many times by rubbing ink and paper over the wood. Ukiyo-e became very popular in Japan, and eventually, the...
Ganbare Goemon Medal Arcade Game - Gameplay (in emulator)

A rough video showing the gameplay involved in the newly dumped "Ganbare Goemon" Medal arcade game. In short, in the Arcade you would insert tokens to power up Goemon's koban, and hit the targets to receive more tokens. If you miss, or don't hit the exactly right spot, you lose. This is recorded from an emulator where unfortunately there's an issue with the sprite layering. You can download thi...

I kinda love all the lyrics-versions. Sure, I grew up with the Goemon 64 version, but all of them bring back that feeling of watching old japanese shows and anime. But aside of the music, my 3 favorites have to be -. Mystical Ninja starring Goemon -. Goemons Great Adventure -. Pachislot Ganbare Goemon in no particular oder. Additionally: "Kurunarakoi!"s idea of having an Impact-version per main-character is kinda coo, especially as they can combine. But the intros are rather lame. "Shin Sedai Shūmei! " aka "New Age Goemon" is also epic and looks ike a typical Sentai robot transformation, but this spin-off just doesn't feel like the rest of the franchise, which is why I won't put it among my favorites no matter how much I like it. And I really wish there was an Impact in "Bouken Jidai Katsugeki", as I really love the style. But similar to New Age, this would very likely also not fit the typical Ganbare Goemon style at all.

4:08 Is the head spin seen here some sort of Easter egg that you can trigger with some sort of button prompt? Or does it just normally do that in the Japanese version and changed to not do that in the western release?

Is this a quirk of the game audio or is Japanese really this difficult? At 1:00 he says "eiyā" and it sounds more like "chyea". And when he says koredemoka, it sounds more like koredemoga 「これでもが」... which would make me paranoid, because in my experience of foreign languages, you change one little sound and it suddenly means something completely different like "I want to eat a toilet".

Well, I think every day you learn something new... The animation in the Pachin-slot made me realize.... DAMN Impact is REALLY Fast since his 100 Punchs Combo is made using ONLY his LEFT Hand. All this years I belived he punched with both hands. For me Impact just became even more AMAZING. Also the animators in the Pachinslot made sure you can move Impact's Head in the end of the "boarding sequence", It's a nice detail.
