I live in the twin cities and fish lakes for muskies. A lot of people who chase muskies with a fly seem to prefer to do it on rivers. Am I missing something? I haven't had a lot of success on lakes. Should I be fishing rivers?

How big of a fly could you cast with a 800 grain line?

Don't get me wrong. Im a southern Wisconsin guy and I love musky as much as any guy but, I'd honestly would rather put our resources towards healthy native fish. I enjoy catching giant pike down here over stocked musky.

You guys forgot about Sea Eagle boats. An inflatable pontoon boat is perfect for me because I can carry it in the cargo area of my SUV, and I can keep it in my apartment.

I have just inherited this boat but older model , I want to put a kicker motor on it, I have found the gas nipple but I was hoping you would be able to tell me how to get gas flowing threw the line into the motor , is there a valve somewhere under the decking ?

...you touch on the topic of "managing" our resources to benefit one species or another...and that species is usually one that people want to hunt/catch/whatever. Turkeys over grouse. Deer over wolves. Walleyes over muskies. We should, IMO, be seeking balance. It shouldn't, IMO, be a popularity contest, particularly one based on consumption of the resource...

A thought on the "Kill them all or don't fish for them at all.." argument that some people try to use - and not just WRT muskies: That's a "𝘙𝘦𝘥𝘶𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘰 𝘢𝘥 𝘢𝘣𝘴𝘶𝘳𝘥𝘶𝘮" and that is not, has never been, and will never be a reasonable way to have a discussion. All that kind of argument is, is just an attempt to control the dialog by pretending it's a binary choice when it's not, and to drive a particular agenda. Muskie fishing isn't the only place it comes up...

Chippewa 10wt 1 piece has been working for me for 4-5 years now. Only reason I’d try something different is if I wanted to throw truly huge flies.
