I'm really, really jealous!!! :-) Not only about the experience sitting in THAT car, also have 5 days at this awesome park!!! Today at the actual rates it is hard do pay for 5 days universal! :) Annyway, I was at the Sony Studio Tour in December, and they had both Ecto1 there: The one from the 1984 movie, and also the one used in afterlife and frozen empire. The tour guide said that the second car was used "in ALL SEQUALS". When I explicitly asked for GB2 she confirmed that. My personal interpretation of her answer was by reading her face expressions "I was told to say "in all sequels to the 1984 movie", that's what I did... so from that definition it includes GB2, which I do not know cause I'm too young". If they "downgrade" the original Ecto1A to the Ecto1 used in Afterlife and Frozen Empire, it's kind of true. On the other hand: NO holes from the lower dash light, so your theory of two cars must be correct, which means on the other side the car at Sonys is just used in the two new movies, and has nothing to to with Ecto1A and GB2. Okay, still possible, that they reworked the grill and fixed the holes. I wished I had seen your video before, so I could look more closely on that details. Do you have a picture from the backside of your Ecto1A? I noticed some differences on the gas pump injection hole on both cars (the afterlife car fits to that seen in 4:32). Also the louvre is one single part in the 1984-car (fits to the Ecto1 used in the beginning of GB2, but Ecto1A had none, also at 4:31are none!), and two one above the other on the afterlife car (fits to the backside seen in 5:30). I can send you the picture, if your want.

I'm going to do a half-assed Ectomobile project using a 1962 Mercury Comet station wagon, I'll call it the Ectomobile Jr. or something. Will never look right of course but just for fun.

From age 8, when living in NYC, and I I FIRST saw Ghostbusters, I was an INSTANT FAN! Too bad the ENGINE 23 Firehouse isn’t relocatable to another part of LA. A safer part where it could be seriously cleaned up, fixed up, upgraded & kept up. To help with/ the stream of revenue, for upkeep, the inside viewing could could / would make for a great, fun & exciting GB movie museum / continual filming location for GB films. But, nevertheless, STILL an AWSOME piece of history & an inspiration in when building my own model replica. Of course, for purposes of originality incorporating in my design features, I’ll need to give it a different FireHouse ENGINE #.
