I would say it would depend on the size of your gear. A down bag that can compress down would work, but a bulky synthetic bag wouldn't be ideal. I also backpack, so most of my gear is smaller and lighter, so I manage fine for multi day trips. I put my tent in a dry bag right behind the seat and top quilt, sleep pad, cook gear and food, spare clothes, misc. items all in the dry hatch. Good luck on your purchase!

I believe it was the last week of April. Your best bet is to try to arrive two days after a moderate rainfall in mid to late April. Nights can still be a little cool and rain is common this time of year but the trees have just begun to leaf out in their spring green and the day time temps are warm and there are not a lot of bugs out yet.

Thanks for watching! I would say kayak choice is all about personal preference. One of the guys we normally go with does use a sit on top and really likes it. As for me, I do some colder weather kayaking too and like the added wind protection. I also just feel more in control sitting lower in the water. Like I said, mostly just personal preference. As for fishing, I haven't done any fishing on the Buffalo, so I can't speak to that. I hope you can make it up there, It is a beautiful place!

So far so good. I don't wear it on a regular basis, only on trips and outings. I have probably had it out 20 to 30 times and had held up well. I am still happy with the purchase.

@@trishlovelace7808 I don't remember the levels on this trip. If you happened to watch my video of the year before, high water levels is nothing to mess around with. The Buffalo Outdoor Center has a website with a river level gauge. It is a good resource with it broken down in to green yellow and red. They are also a great resource to call and talk to if you have questions. They watch the river conditions closely and can give good current advice. Not sure quite how to take your comment. I am from outside the state of Colorado, and would like to think I treated the area with respect . As for people, I always try to go off season and during the week so I can avoid as many people as possible. I saw very few on the trail. It was the last part of April. The springtime is the best opportunity to be able to float from the beginning. Later in the year often times there isn't as much water, and you have to start further down the river.

It tends to vary greatly based on how fast the water is running and how many hours you want to paddle. We would tend to average anywhere from 15 to 30 miles in a day.

I would say that as long as your body weight plus gear doesn't exceed the max weight listed for the boat, then you would be fine. It sits a little lower than some, but that doesn't change much with added weight. I currently weigh 220 and have had easily in excess of 100 pounds of gear and not had any problems at all.
