The first time I got a budgie I was doing everything wrong like I got a round teeny tiny cage has no toys water and seed only diet and maybe some bread just 2 plastic sticks and I got it a and a house for breeding with his girlfriend got 2 kids both died because they tough to death while trying to get its own part of the tiny cage but later I will get 2 budgies square big cage 2 doors for nesting house and add litter so the egg doesn’t break and 5 toys and 3 natural wood pouches and an platform am I missing anything or something I can improve

i also have a piece of advice related to windows... stickers dont always fix the issue!! i remember hearing people tell me to put stickers on my window so the bird could tell its a surface, but one day my poor budgie was startled by a loud noise in the house and he flew straight into the window, even with the stickers on it... i feel very lucky that he only seemed to be a little shook, no injuries or anything. after that i ended up getting a paper curtain because they're fairly affordable and require basically zero effort to install. i heard they can sometimes grow mold, but i haven't had that issue thankfully.

Hi Doreen, I've been loving your videos. I'm wishing I could find a way to make my budgie friends Petey and Peeps happier and to trust me a little more. Peeps bullies Petey, and I can't make Peeps understand it's not nice to pick on Petey! I've been reluctant to finger train them because they get so easily freaked out over any sort of change. But I know they need more exercise than what they're getting. Their cage is large, but smaller than the one Elvis and his cage mates share. I introduce new toys to my budgies, but they ignore them.

Two of my budgies Brett and Newland are way too "feral" for taking while Emmanuel, Pippin, and my baby budgie Becky are semi untamed.I guess most adult budgies are untamed.

Up here in northern Vermont, days are really short. The shortest day will be December 21, this coming Saturday. I say good morning to Petey and Peeps around 7:20 am, and I put them to bed around 4:30 pm when they get cranky. I do miss them until the next morning! Wishing you and your budgie babies a very Merry Christmas!

I have 3 budgies with the same exact color combinations. :D 1 Green, 1 Blue, and one Blue/Green. They all have really unique personalities.

It's totally warm weather here, so no snow for us, it's summer here, you know i can't wait to see snow one day, never seen it in real life, do you guys have snow? ❄️

You could donate that extra cage to a local parrot rescue.

All these tips are good common sense! I'm glad I've never had a ceiling fan. And once I get my budgies finger-trained so they can fly around, the dining/living room area where their cage is can be closed off from the rest of the house and front door. I would also tape a sign on the outside of the closed doors, "Birds in flight. Do not enter!"

My female, Peeps, is a chaser. She picks on poor Petey, a male. But both budgies bob their heads and warble when I come into the room. They love me and they know I love them. Both are easily frightened birds, and I regret that I've yet to finger train them. BTW, I've just subscribed. Your babies are adorable!

Awwww, cuuute! Happy anniversary with love from Petey, Peeps and me! 🥰🥰🦜🦜 Petey is a boy budgie, and Peeps is a girl budgie. I brought them home in May, 2023. I fully know the joy of having little budgie friends.

You make an excellent point, remember when i told you the story of Crypto flying out, and before we got Crypto we had Cosmo, he is a red throated conure, once the broom frightened him, he flew into the glass door and got a purple mark on his beak, his beak is a light color, so you could see the purple, but he was totally fine after a few seconds. This might sound harsh, but we still got her here, and she is 100 percent ok, so 3 years ago when i got my gouldian finch, we let her out one evening, and little did we know what was gonna happen next, we poured 1 centimeter of sunflower oil into a pan, we were about too cook, but the oil was completely cool down, we hadn't switched on the stove, we wanted Flutter ( my gouldian finches name ) we didn't want her to get get to close to the kitchen, and we forgot to cover the lid of the cool oil and she fell right into that oil, i was soooooo devastated, we washed her we cleaned her, luckily it was molting time for them round about in November, so that's another example of make sure everything is bird safe, sorry for such a long message, thank you for this video, hope you have a great day there❤❤❤

Hi Dorene!! Wow it been a long time 🤗 My sparrow, 1 of my mousebirds and both my budgies are also chasers. When we got Disco the people said he is a cage bird, I've never heard of such a thing called a cage bird, then his previous owner never let him out, so he was struggling to fly, and i also believe that birds are made to fly, all 7 of my birds get a chance to fly every day, and now Disco can even fly better than Crypto ❤

Still pulling for LJ. Looks like his flight feathers are too short. Hoping he was just over clipped in the past and they grow back.

My first budgie as an adult was a very sweet hand raised male. He had two companions at different times, and he helped them become finger tame, taught them that the kitchen table was a great place for supervised play, and while he didn't teach either of them to talk (he was a great talker.), he taught his favorite whistles and household sound effects to them. One of them learned to talk later.

My first bird as an adult was a wonderful female Budgie. She taught and socialized all the birds who came to live with us. She was awesome, and I miss her so much (she passed away in 2007). ❤❤❤
