MAGIC VS YU-GI-OH! - Keywords, Card Text and Clarity

In this video, I examine Magic: The Gathering vs Yu-Gi-Oh! and the ways each of the Trading Card Games use the concept of keywords to communicate mechanics to the player. While keywords are a good way to inform the player of certain common mechanics, an overuse of one-and-done keywords can lead to the players getting confused, and making decisions based on incomplete information. Yu-Gi-Oh! is a...
Inscryption: The Cursed Game That Wants To Steal Your Soul
Переглядів 6457 місяців тому
Inscryption fits in a very strange part of the media ecosystem, in a position shared by a select few properties like Cabin in the Woods and Everything Everywhere All At Once. It's an excellent product, and people will tell you so, but they won't tell you anything about it because it works best when you don't know. So this January, I bought the game, curious. Four months later, my thoughts are f...

It's this really compelling mix of traditional and contemporary games that really grabs me and pulls me in, and it might be giving me a gambling addiction. But hey, that's why we play virtual poker and not real poker, isn't it? Balatro on Steam: store.steampowered.com/app/2379780/?snr=1_5_9 205

We back baby!!!
Love from a Spice8Rack and Vaush fan!
Im actually looking to do something similar to this prog with a friend (thanks for the inspiration) and i think the wheels are an awesome system for rewards outside of the actual matches. Is it possible to share the links to the wheels? Or post what the possible options are on each so id be able to recreate it.
dog i am literally going to have a stroke over how many mistakes you make with the pinger deck
Still relevant, I quit the game in 2020 and now I have to catch up. So many memories and such a funny explanation. And seriously The Second Dream was such a bombshell when it happened, one of the best story moments in like... anything? This video is probably the closest I'll get to experiencing that over again, which is sad, but still, props to you.
I created a new world with atrox as my spawn planet. I also didnt use a startig shelter. This is possible with the use of ocsygen filters. Would recommend
Okay the arcbound crusher and genesis chamber combo is sick
Spoilers for the episode At 17:22 Chrysalis missed lethal unless they were afraid of an instant speed unsumon effect on the unblocked ravager. Arcbound ravager could have sacked most if the board at instant speed to power itself up and trigger modular death effect from the 8 counter guy, to boost it up above 17 power. Ravager is a messed up card.
Yeah, Ravager sure is a messed up card. I haven't played with it a lot (I actually started playing Magic relatively recently) so my combat math isn't quite refined.
We’re so back
Damn that's a based deck Austin, is sunburst in the next set? I have a creature that has sunburst and taps to double its counters, maybe if someone pulls it they can try some jank fling strategy?
Noooo, the crop rotation! Weird how nobody notice you play it multiple times before but oh well, they didn't do much tbh.
Hey gang! Sorry this one took so long to come out. Life is hectic as always, and there's a lot of things that are more fun than editing. I'm hoping to get back to the point where I can promise a consistent schedule, but that's realistically not going to happen right now. Regardless, I'm excited to make more Prog and take you along the journey with us. Thank you for your continued support! 👍
Funny coincidence, had rewatched the last one yesterday
finally caught up. almost every single episode has made me shout at my monitor. looking forward to more!
No pack opening section?
Oh heck! I forgot it this time. Just a production hiccup. Now I know why the pregame segments had an unusually short runtime after I finished editing them.
noice! We into the most broken block of magic ever made
Heck yeah!
woop woop! New video
"Hail, good citizen! I used to be an adventurer like you but I took an arrow to the knee."
i'm starting this series from the beginning and haven't reached this point yet but i would like to expurress just how grateful i am fur you consistently numbering each episode. a lot of youtubers cut that out of their uploads bc "the algorithm" doesn't like it, but i think the numbers are really useful fur the human viewer.
It took me a while to notice, but it's good that you guys are back!
yooo new video, didn't realise it had already come out
Awesome to see this series is back! Also geez the notable cards section is over a minute long.
Perfect timing just binged through everything and hiatus is over B)
Nice👍😎
omg yes, they are back
Dross Scorpion + Thopter Assembly + Artifact sac outlet is an infinite combo once you hit whatever set has thopter assembly (if it’s not khaladesh 😂).

Relatively new to the series, Im thinking will they move to Standard rotations? Or will they keep it as an eternal format?
GOBLINS
I'd have done unlimited as well, the sets are different enough, and it gives people another chance at dual lands.
"all the green mana doublers aren't symmetrical". Heartbeat of Spring is a straight up green reprint of mana flare.
Honestly the worst part of Atrox is the terrain. Everything else is manageable with enough caution, but the terrain will always slow you down unless you take the time to punch through it.
Do think smaller Key Words can be added to Yu-Gi-Oh. Like "(Quick Effect)", and "banish". And even smaller wording choices like "This card is unaffected by the effects of Trap Cards" to "Unaffected by Trap Effects".
underrated vid
The problem is that Magic is becoming YugiOh because of needing to create new keywords every set.
I disagree that Flying or Trample can be intuitively understood. So when you think of trampling you think of something massive bulldozing something small or maybe clearing an area... So obviously Trample means that you can attack a land right? or anything with a stat total low enough or mana cost low enough instantly dies right? No... Somehow a giant elephant stepping on a squirrel means some wizard somewhere just gets a massive nosebleed for some reason. Flying to be understood properly needs you to know an ENTIRELY DIFFERENT KEYWORD. hearthstone uses keywords, but at least they have the decency/ability to tell you what those keywords do if you hover over the card.
one insteresting thing is that yugiho player have made generally agreed upon keyword, same for hexproof in magic if i recon correctly You could technically do the inverse you did with adult gold dragon for a yugiho card using those keyword, acronym (NSu, SSu) remove redundant limitations or reminder text
Fart Town 💀
great video
Damn i didn't expect the three of you to go red/green.
