Dude, this video is fantastic. You have a great sense of pacing in your script, your delivery is top notch, and the editing you've done is A+. Captures what I adore about inscyption, while going into the parts of the game I just haven't managed to find my way to yet. Wonderful stuff!

The Trout Population are rather skilled at card games.

A lot of great insight into this game, loved this video - Inscryption left me with a feeling that I had trouble describing when I finished it, and you managed to articulate it really well when you were talking about the whole ending sequence.

It’s so funny that you mentioned Ultrakill, because Inscryption has been the one game that really captivated my interest after being obsessed with Ultrakill for almost exactly a year now. Phenomenal game 10/10 Leshy’s goodbye made me sob ugly tears

Amazing Inscryption analysis!!! I love your unique take on the story that it’s about game development, that’s definitely a topic Daniel Mullins touched on heavily in The Hex and I wouldn’t be surprise if that was his intention with Inscryption! This video is incredibly well made and awesome, well done!

Fun fact: Earlier versions of the script went a lot more in-depth about the way the different Scrybes can serve as an allegory for how game design ideas have changed over time, but I cut it to keep focus on the more personal and literal narrative.

Good video, but a few points I want to address:
    1. The scrybes aren't the developers. While they do shadow aspects of game development (I believe Grimora is supposed to shadow Lore), they aren't really the developers. They do create cards in-game and thus are developers in-game, they are not part of the actual team that made the Inscryption game.
    2. All scrybes know about the OLD_DATA. In fact, they all aim to take over by searching the waters (the angler with fishing, the dredger with dredging, Kaycee with their well and Goo mage somehow). Although this isn't outright confirmed, it seems like there were multiple new games used, and all the scrybes have been in control at least once.
    3. There are several copies of Inscryption, but just one contains the OLD_DATA, and that is the one Luke gets. This is confirmed in Kaycee's mod. The reaon is is that they got a shipment of floppy disks, one of which had OLD_DATA. People including [REDACTED] we see in the IRL moments want the disc back. The reason has to do with the ARG of this game and is too complicated for me to tell.

Alright I played it blind as instructed and... well, I'm whelmed. Just the normal amount of whelmed, I'd say. Some good bits, some great bits - I share your love of the bit where he says to continue without keeping score - but it's all standing on the foundation of a so-so deckbuilding game(s) and writing that leans hard on the meta. As a rule, I think, going meta is good when you're already good, but bad otherwise. Actually more often it's bad even when you're otherwise doing good.
Oh, Grimora's game in A2 is "bean-count-y" IMO. The resource-management-focused version of the game. Think Psychatog. Okay, it doesn't quite get there in my opinion, but I think that's what it's going for.
