    I love this. No Period Now What paved the way for research & awareness on HA, but it also did a huge disservice by giving the message that you have to sit on the couch and eat junk food to recover. Especially since HA mostly happens to women with a lifestyle that is completely the opposite of that. A middle ground approach is much healthier for the mind body and soul.

    I love that you talk about your experience with your perception of your food intake compared to your energy output. I am 6 months into "real" recovery (reduced training + gaining a few lbs to no longer be underweight) but recently got my hormones re-tested and my estrogen barely increased. So about 3 weeks ago I started tracking calories/macros again (which is very helpful for me!) and completely switched to Pilates for strength plus walking the dog 3x a day and yoga. I see now that my food intake matches my current level of activity, but couldn't keep up with repairing my hormones + repairing my muscles after each strength training session. Probably why I was so sore all the time! Perception can be so skewed in the moment but it is so helpful to start over at a baseline to see food intake needs before adding in exercise.

      Love that you are taking responsibilty for your health and making the appropriate changes to support you're healing body :) Yes 100% our perception is skewed , untill we choose awareness (as you have done!!) I can see you wrote this a week ago, how is your body feeling now? Have you expereinced a decrease in soreness?

    • @FreyaESV
      @FreyaESV Рік тому

      @@itsamindgame My body is feeling fantastic! It has been 1 month since switching to pilates and I feel better than I have in 4 years. My sleep has improved significantly and I have no more debilitating soreness. All of the chronic muscle tightness and joint pain has resolved too - a true testament to how resilient our bodies are when truly given the chance to heal. I still get mild soreness from doing new pilates moves but I recover quickly so I'm actually gaining the benefits from working those muscles.

    I totally agree that the LH strips are frustrating and can be hard to catch a spike! I remember struggling with that. But obviously it’s not the ONLY indicator of ovulation. :) I’m so sorry for your loss. I cannot imagine. A chemical is still a loss. Especially hard to process when you were intentionally trying for a pregnancy. Thank you for sharing. ❤ I’m SO excited for your growing family. It’s really cool to see. When I watch you/listen to your story, I feel like I’m seeing my future (at least I hope I am, lol). I hope I can manage my training and motherhood, just like you.

    Thanks for sharing your story, Beth! I can relate to transitioning from the sudden body-image shock after going from quasi-recovery to intentional recovery - when you try on clothes and you're like "how did this happen?!" after feeling like you could 'get away with' recovery for years while holding onto the body you're most comfortable in.

    Thanks for the reminder of all the negatives I left behind with my eating disorder. The past few days have been very tough dealing with the slightest bit of weight gain above what I was comfortable with and I have been looking back on my eating disorder with rose-colored glasses. Just like getting over a bad relationship, I do miss it but I am better off now even when it doesn't feel like it.

      my pleasure :) it's so easy for us to see our ED as something helpful or worthy of going back to but it's all part of the deceit. The reality is even though we do face some discomfort in recovery it still brings us many more highs than ED could ever provide for us. Keep going :) xx
