Day 23 takes me from Silver City in the early hours to pass through Separ and Hachita before heading out on the long, hot, straight paved road to Antelope Wells and the Mexican border. I have been spell bound by this unique Island ever since and two years ago took on the challenge...

    It doesn't matter where they are made. It depends on artisans and quality inspection. My family and I have bought 2 kislux bags in the past 3 years and I'm sure you won't be disappointed!

    I am totally new to this. This is NOT a criticism, but a real question: How waterproof will this bag be? Do you seal the seams? As I understand it, the stitching along the long peripheral part can't be sealed, b/c there is webbing outside and velcro inside. And since that part is horizontal, I'm picturing water from the top tube pooling on top of the bag and soaking through that stitching into the interior. I don't have any real perspective on if this could happen or how much it matters. I come from a mostly dry area where I simply don't do outdoorsy stuff in the rain. But I'm planning on doing bike touring in some fairly rainy places. I'm imagining my bike and gear possibly being exposed to hours of heavy rain. Would this bag keep everything dry? Again, not being snarky or anything, just trying to get a perspective on how effective this technology (stitching through x-pac, unsealed) works. Thanks for your video. It's definitely got me thinking about a DIY approach.

      @@Jeff-si7ni the fabric is waterproof the seams are water resistant. Unless you fall in a river or you have hours of very hard rain there isn't ever a problem. However I do make sure all important stuff is secure in a ziplock bag or equivalent. my belief is that a fully waterproof bag isn't fully waterproof after a few outings. Even if the seams were waterproof I would take the same precautions. Thanks for the question. Steve

    I'm just making my pattern and I wonder 1) how far down from the top you placed each zipper; 2) how wide is your velcro for inside divider. Thanks so much. I've looked at a lot of patterns and liked yours the best. The divider is simple and looks like it will work; the ladder stitched strap around the outside is such a simple effective solution.

      @@wendyostlind465 top zip is 5cm down from top and the lower one about half way down may be a tad more. For the Velcro use 5cm wide hook and loop. The aim of the Velcro is to prevent the frame bag from bulging . Hope it goes well. Happy adventures.

    Hi, i am doing something wrong, when i mark my notches and cut a panel when i am doing a turn, the outside of the panel that is cut is now 2 cm longer and my notches don't align. Do you take that into consideration when you mark your notches?

    • @stevenmoatt4736
      @stevenmoatt4736 4 місяці тому

      @@zamocno both pieces of material should have a seem line drawn with a seem allowance of about 10mm. The seem lines should stay on top of each other the whole time. The notches should always line up. Some inaccuracies can occur on bends. You will need to cut slits along the edges of bends and corners to allow the seem lines to stay on top of each other. If you don't then subsequent notches will not line up. If this is confusing send me a photo of your problem areas and I might be able to help.

The bivi bag is ok with a clear sky but if its wet i have a home made single skin tent made from cuben fibre. The snug pack os used in the tent to stop the sleeping bag getting wet from the tent sides. This combination offers me alot of flexibility. If the temperature drops then I wear puffer trousers and top as well. I have a titanium pot with a small gas canister and burner.
