Dramatic changes to the transparency, rigor, reproducibility and replicability of research practices have occurred in the last decade. Despite considerable progress towards the adoption of open science practices by researchers in many disciplines, developing pedagogy to train students in open and reproducible scholarship has received much less attention. Engaging students with the multiple dime...
FORRT's Academic Wheel of Privilege
Переглядів 6 тис.Рік тому
The Academic Wheel of Privilege (AWoP) provides an alternative method to assigning authorship and credit in scientific papers (as opposed to the classic “merit” system, which, in our view, perpetuates inequities in academia). We believe the WoP can serve as a starting tool to generate deeper discussions on the concepts of privilege, power imbalance, implicit bias, positionality, and intersectio...

FORRT Presentation on Replications and Reversals
Переглядів 402 роки тому
A (medical) reversal is when an existing treatment is found to be ineffective and harmful. In recent years, scholarship in Psychology showed that only 40-65% of some classic results were replicated. And even in those that replicated, the average effect found was half the originally reported effect. Psychology is not alone, medicine, cancer biology, and economics all have their share of irreplic...

The wheel of hate, jealousy, and self loathing. You see minorities as incapable of doing things on their own. Just one example of your racism.

Is/Are there any pedagogical framework/s developed for "reproducible teaching" where the framework for teaching a subject like math or computer science is so precise and fine-grained that it accounts for most of the possible nuances that most teachers fail at while teaching their subjects? A framework for teaching that has the same strictness and precision as what you would expect from formal proofs in mathematics when validating a theorem.

To be able or not able understand or able or not spend time this wheel everyday to check your privelege is also a matter of privelege. We here have a privelege to know this video, while many others don't.

I wonder if there was never a label placed on one's status would you be happy with what you have, or would you still be complaining about how has more?
