The Wirral Swan Song (Wirral Line Class 507 Farewell) | Jakeso
On the 15th September 2024 I embarked on the Branchline Society's Wirral Swan Song Rail tour, the farewell tour for the Class 507 on the Wirral Line! We run up and down the Wirral Line for hours, running into sidings, depots and rare track. We also take a quick trip onto the Northern line via the Stock Interchange Line to visit Kirkdale Depot!
It was a very fun tour and I can't wait for the Northern Line one in November, my only hope is that the horns are kept down a bit more... my ears are still ringing!
It's rare that I upload very long form video's like this, but I figured having it all means people can skip through to what they want to see, I'll add timestamps if I can be bothered, but there's info of places and junctions in the video itself.
Hope you enjoyed the newest addition to the Jakeso channel!

Merseyrail RARE & UNUSED Announcements (Class 507 - Julie Berry) | Jakeso

On The Wirral Swan Song (Wirral Line Class 507 Farewell) Today, while sitting in the Birkenhead Central Sidings, a member of the train crew decided to go through all the preloaded announcements built into the BTROS, most of which I've never heard before (or knew existed) It made for an interesting few minutes and also some laughter at points, I figured it was worth its own video. On the 3rd February 2012 a Class 90 (90046) derailed at Bletchley Junction after severely overspeeding the set of points on the line. In this video, we will find out why this happened and what was done after to prevent this from happening again, I hope you enjoy! Sorry for this video being so late. Very interesting 👌
I'm really sorry but as you gabbled the commentary so much I could not concentrate. The script and presentation would be great if you could just re-record at an appropriate speed? Thansk ad I hopd you take the criticism as conconstructive. Basically: SLOW DOWN!
Not an IET
Driver error. I’m not sure why people are suggesting it is an issue with the signals at the location. All drivers that “sign” there route must know it off by heart and every signal and route indications. Expect anything to happen at anytime. The indicator to divert should have been spotted and understood completely for any qualified train driver. There is no excuse.
Cant hear the commentary over the music, graphics very poor.
Signal confirmation bias is a big issue with the train drivers if you run a route constantly and know all of the signals and not expecting to see a danger aspect signal
The driver had confirmation bias he expected to see and the indication for straight and not expecting to see the route indicator for the up fast specific instructions to the driver from the signaller to tell the driver that they will be crossing to the up fast line at a certain junction would give the driver sufficient time to act in accordance with the train operational rules for certain junctions and observing speed limit changes well in advance also the driver should confirm with the speed limit changes with the signaller
recently I caught a pendileno train (probably spelt it wrong) here
2:23 3:07 why is the whole train laughing
So will these announcements not be on the new trains?
didint this also happen with a class 90
Fatigue may not have been a factor, but this happened during circadian low, which will likely have had an effect.
NAH THIS IS FUNNY 😂
The white line "graphical" route indicators are most certainly a more intuitive way of letting a driver know that they're about to diverge from the current track, compared with an alphanumeric route indicator. Having the signal clear while the trains is still a significant distance away also seems a bad idea. Also, on one video I saw recently, the actual divergence was so far away from the signal that a driver might just forget.
Are any of you actual drivers- just gauging knowledge of rules and regs
E 👏 T 👏 C 👏 S 👏 Time to fix the mess of uk signaling systems
I've been commuting on those trains for more than 20 years. Heaps of junk won't be missed as far as I'm concerned.
Great video, very informative, well spoken and explained. I'm just glad the incident wasn't more severe; no one was seriously hurt and the loco / track were repaired. Though the signals could be made clearer, I think the main issue is we're all human, lol. We make mistakes, but as I said, I'm just glad this mistake wasn't more severe. The "good" thing is that changes were made to prevent it from happening again so in a way, that's a good result from this. Anyway, great video - subbed. :)
The plan for the Northern Line farewell tour is that the public won't be allowed to play with the horns during the breaks, only staff will be allowed to use the horns. Too many people were ignore staff instructions and doing multiple tones.
When is the northern line one
Planned for November 3rd
why is it saying customers and not passengers
@@calvinnguyen7059 Because it's 2024, not 1974.

What a rude, disrespectful and objectively wrong comment. Keep your malformed opinions to yourself if you have nothing nice to say. This is my first video on this channel and I have no problems with his voice, accent or use of the English language.

shame that the new 2024 Stock will use TTS according to an FOI request I made to Tfl in around October last year regarding the new trains
@@LokiAvivson i did not know that but it does suck that they gonna use tts

Amazing video mate i really enjoyed watching, very informative i like how you have different stuff to other 390 history videos, such as the EPS speed limits and how there was originally a 50/50 split between standard and first class, thats ridiculous! I had no clue either of these things were a thing before this video❤👍
All because I went to the leading cab to ask if they had the engineering works one from when they were building Headbolt Lane

Is it just me, but does Inside Number 9 episode Boo to a Goose spring immediately to mind 😂
The train should never been allowed to continue in ecs let alone in service, as it should have been checked over by Fleet.
The announcements at 2:52 and the following announcement...the timing just couldn't be any better! 😂 I can hear myself laughing, that was a good day in coach F. 😊
2:23 my favourite one! 😂
It was a bit insane to have a 15mph crossover in a place like this. I see it's since been changed to 40mph
also, the system used on the 507s and 508s isn't actually TrainFX, it's BTROS (Whiteleys), the exact same as these train types: current: 158 (ScotRail units) 165 (Chiltern units) 168 170 (excluding Northern which was downgraded to TrainFX in late 2022) 171 172 318 320 (original batch of 320/3s as the ex FCC/GN and ex LM batch of 320/4s have the Axion (SAViewCom) system) 357 375 376 377 378 379 387 465/466 former: 315 (both Overground and Elizabeth line/Tfl Rail, installed by Greater Anglia in around 2014) 442 (Southern/Gatwick Express and SWR units) 455 (Southern units) 456 (Southern units)
lol 2:23
I got these on camera as well XD. funniest one for me was the fire on the train one
Never been on one but reminds me of the 314s since both are PEPs
2:23 is the best one

That aspect of British signalling is really strange, to rely solely on approach checks with the inherent danger of speeding up again erroneously. Some have noted here feathers, but that's a band-aid because (to my limited understanding) there is no ATP integration. For instance, with German signalling and Indusi/PZB there would have been a Vr2 (diagonal yellow-green, or blinking newer Ks1 with Zs3v advance speed indication) advance signalling triggering a constantly lowering speed limit supervision to 40kph. Instead of the fatal green aspect with route indicator that requires exact knowledge without room for mistakes, a German driver would have been in speed limit supervision of 40kph and seen an Hp2 yellow-green main aspect or steady Ks1 green aspect with speed indication Zs3. There still is a gap when it comes to such very slow turnouts, but ETCS is covering this by balises announcing and enforcing lower speeds in such cases. Thankfully, no casualties, especially as there could have been a train on the opposite direction. Did I miss it or is the British ATP still stuck in this model with these no-protection holes?
TPWS wasn't fitted here for some reason. IIRC the track has been modified meaning this can't really happen again but it seems like TPWS hasn't been installed.
Human error yet again. If on approach to cross overs, why is it there not some form of automation to take over and reduce the trains speed to within the required parameters, overriding any driver input setting? Excess speed approach to crossovers should long be a thing of the past.
