This is absolutely ridiculous! How can anyone possibly f* up to this level? Why was the red/green light removed or decommissioned in the first place? The signalman should’ve paid more attention and told the farmer to stop until the train had passed. This could’ve been much worse and was so avoidable.
Indeed. The fact that the lights on the manual crossing were removed is one thing, but then it is revealed that they were removed due to… safety concerns… like what?!?
Congratulations to the designers and builders of the train and the tractor. Everyone survived a crash at more than 80mph, and the train stayed on the rails.
The pictures inside Cambridge PSB are of panels A and B, not the Thetford Workstation which covers this crossing. The crossing concerned does have a bit of history and was murder during the harvest when it was under the old system controlled from Harling Road Signal Box with a long section between Harling Road SB and Thetford SB. The Thetford Workstation covers a much larger area from Ely North Junction to Wymondham, you do have to know the line and understand how it relates to the display on the workstation.
That tractor driver definitely was at fault He should’ve phone the signaller first before he decides whatever or not it’s safe to cross And if there’s the train coming he should have wait for that train to go pass Then Call the signaller again and then if it’s clear then you can open the gates but you must look both ways before crossing
Hey Bro. Have a look into a pop shield for your mic. It'll stop the weird noises when you say words with sharp sounds like "*p*ermission" or "*b*arrelling". Love the content and your pacing is much better than your earlier videos. ❤
Surely it takes more than a minute for any farm vehicle to cross this crossing, it is clearly network rail at fault & it should be agreed that at least twenty minutes should be allowed for any vehicle crossing a manually operated crossing, madness !!!!!
There is nothing wrong with level crossings so long as they are used correctly. Some crossings are on railways that have like two or three trains a day yet you still get accidents. How some muppets can manage to pick the wrong moment to cross in those circumstances is like the lottery you don’t want to win!
Signallers along with farmhands fault said there was a train in the area then granted him permission to cross wtf!! plus the tractor operative should of double checked up the line and maybe switched off the engine and listened for an approaching train
Guess what? Nobody cares. My brother in christ, you're not watching a Triple-A, 5× platinum, multi-award winning studio production. It is a niche UA-cam video from someone who cares about what they do, not a BBC documentary. Stop shitting on small creators. (Great video btw, I didn't have the same issue on my smartphone)
Cant believe its seven years ago this happened, how time flies by since this happened.
i feel this in my heart especially as greater anglia runs my local service even though it was 7 years ago it still leaves a mark on my skin

@@lukethomas.125 You couldn’t make it up could you! They bang on about safety yet do stupid 💩 like this!
@@nigelkthomas9501 Indeed. It’s a bloody disgrace

Thanks for the feedback and info!

Not my Turbostar! 😨
Crossings should be a thing of the past: reduce accidents. Build bridges (Over the rails). That's just my thoughts.

Way too expensive especially for a little used crossing like this
Has anyone noticed that lots of the units in jakeso's videos involve working on one kilo...?
Just a suggestion, I think the Largs Rail Crash is an interesting topic.
Nice video, its Roudham though...
So it is… I have no idea how I managed to go the entire editing and reading without noticing that 😭🤣
@@Jakeso Near the start you also spell Norwich Noriwch

Nice video
im never going on a greater anglia train now
My friend Britney investageted this
Where is Noriwch?
He misspelled Norwich on accident lol
It's near Thetford
0:23 It's Norwich, not "Noriwch"
Did the tractor driver survive ?
Yes, it is reported that he sustained serious injuries but not life changing or life threatening injuries.
When is the tenf of April ?
In 49 days
the day before the elevenf
Yes
Interesting video but too much information to read on screen whilst listening to spoken commentary.

Awful narration. Narrators voice fades away at time and gets a bit slurry in parts.
