    Slugs are my challenge with brassicas as well. Don't have much caterpillar problems. We always had only one garden as well. But getting involved with the online community has helped us spread our knowledge and ideas.

    Some channels are made to inspire people by showing perfect gardens. Other channels are made to encourage people that, despite the challenges, gardening is worth it.

    The youtubers you follow have "Knowledge" and "tips" to share. Remember, many people think something that works for one must work for all. Not true. Those UA-camrs with "Knowledge and Tips" are just reporting on what worked for them. Your job here is to show what worked (or didn't work) for you.

    Hello, nice video :) Here all my cabages and brocolis are being eated by insects,, so since 3 years i have to put a net over them. If i don't do that i would not have any harvest. They are particulalry voracious this year.

    Thank you for the book recommendations. You may really like Landrace Gardening by Joseph Lofthouse. It's about breeding plants to adapt to your environment rather than doing all the hard, expensive work to make your environment adapt to the plants. I think it can be a real game changer for people like you who live in extreme climates. Best wishes to you in the new year.

    When we are planting our plants we put a teaspoon of Epson salt in the hole. That will help discourage the slugs and the salt is also good for the plants.

    • @borealliving5859
      @borealliving5859 Рік тому

      I never heard about this one before; I feel we have less slugs than last year still, and I heard a few people mention how slugs were a lot worse their first 3 years. So I'm keeping hope and trust in nature, that everything will balance itself out. I've noticed a lot more birds this year, and ... a LOT of grass snakes. I mean, I've lived in the woods here most of my childhood and never seen a grass snake, they are pretty rare ... and this year? I've seen one every week, and I can say for sure we have at least 4 different ones. Feel kinda proud they chose my garden as their home haha

    I forage wild sarsparilla root for a tea, for when we are fighting a cold. If you have woods with pinetrees and sandy soil nearby, they grow well there. They have 1 stem which divides into 3 stems at a central pount. You dig out the roots and dry, storing in a paper bag. Then we boil in water when we are fighting a cold. Its a relative to ginseng. I think there are videos on youtube by the herb guy

    Nice garden. The vegetable you think it’s beet, could it be red Swiss chard? To attract pollinators, did you try growing milkweed next to your vegetable garden? It works for us! Also, I’m curious about souchet. How do you use it?

    J'ai essayé qq chose de nouveau cette année... oui, j'ai semé et mangé des radis. Mais, mes daIkons n'ont pas vraiment fonctionnés... je les ai laissés monter en graines et lorsque les *cosses* ont été relativement grosses, je les ai mangées, avant qu'elles soient récupérées comme des graines! C'est plus piquant que des radis, mais c'est quand même bon! (Venant d'une fille qui n'aime pas le piquant! LOL )
