Love the animation style of Stars in the Trash. Not sure about the voice acting, going by the trailer. But I'll definitely check it out.
@@Jandalph I don‘t think it actually has voice acting, the demo didn‘t. I think the trailer was just voiced over by a dev? That‘s what it sounds like to me, at least.
PERFECT way to start my Sunday morning! Another awesome game preview video Lile!
@@ParkeraNZ aww, thanks Parkera!!
Haha. Weird-o-Meter is such a fitting and cool concept for you. :) In addition to Loco Motive, Stars in the Trash caught my eye. I'm looking for some short games with some fun gameplay and that one looks interesting. Thanks as always for making these! :)
@@ZillaBlitz thanks 😂 I agree, it fits my vibe 🤣 Yes! That one looks so good!
Whats the benchmark for the weird-o-meter? Salamander County Public Television for 10/10?
@@Jandalph oh wow, I had never heard of that game before but judging from the trailer, yes, that would be an 11/10 😂
Lovely video! Followed.
@@AndresPlays93 aw, thank you so much!
Very cool, thanks for featuring Mythwrecked! 💙
@@PolygonTreehouse very much looking forward to it!
The game is aesthetically gorgeous! I wouldn't usually play games in the genre, but I'm considering it for the satisfying walk cycle alone.
Ooooh! I didn't know about Starts In The Trash! Thanks for the recommendation and I'm looking forward to hearing about your reviews of these games! I am also ESTATIC about Loco Motive! Woooooo!
@@WulfTrax it looks so goooood! I‘m lowkey hoping for a good cry 😂
Very interested in Mythwrecked! Been following the dev for a while and watching progress and love the exploration vibes 😊
@@NeonBirdGames the demo was lovely, this is definitely a game for chill end of the year gaming
Great review... made me decide to play it!
Aw, that makes me very happy! I hope you enjoy it!
Went and hugged my dog after watching this. Please keep making videos, okay? Thanks. :)
That is the correct reaction, in my opinion. Thank you, I will try and keep going as long as I can!
Masterpiece! You had me almost crying when talking about your dog and I instantly went back to losing mine.
Thank yooou ❤️ I think those are the hardest times to go through and remember 🫂
I've wanted to play Before Your Eyes since I first heard about it, but honestly I'm scared to XD idk if I'm ready to cry like that/get hit with all those emotions
@@NeonBirdGames It‘s definitely one of those games where you should be prepared. I still can‘t talk about what happens in the game without starting to cry. Don‘t make any dates after playing!
@@lilesindiecorner Haha noted! I'll just schedule "grieving and mourning" for a few days afterward too just to be safe XD
@ you are very wise
I need a hug after watching this.
@@teammeteamus.8315 🫂 🫂🫂🫂🫂🫂 All the hugs you need!
Love your presentation, and these games look excellent! I hope you get a lot of views for this!
Thank you so much! That is very kind to say ❤️
@@lilesindiecorner you have good taste! Do you know about Caravan SandWitch? I just launched my own channel with a video recommending it at length, and I'd bet it's something you'll enjoy!
I only did Endling out of those 5 but it indeed hits hard! It's a bit out there but emotional in a different way (not sad but more in the introspection side) The Talos Principal 1&2 would be on my list personally, it's been a few month and I'm still thinking about it.
It kills me every time 🥲 Ooh, that sounds very intriguing. I think I have the first one, now, so when I feel like a puzzle game again, that’s the one I‘ll play! Thanks 🫂
I actually played Neva because of your video from last month. Totally worth it for the stunning visuals alone. My personal favorite for emotional games is To the Moon. Not much game in that one, but the story is amazing.
Oh that makes me very happy to hear! And you‘re right, the presentation of Neva is just… I have no words, it‘s so beautiful. That one is still on my list because everyone keeps telling me I need to play and cry to it 😂
Wow, you’re not kidding when you say jam packed! That was a lot of cool games. I think my most intriguing titlrtwas Mirthwood, which pushed so many of my buttons. I also really felt myself drawn to Two Falls, given its cross-cultural theme, historical slant, and also that it was done in consultation with indigenous peoples. Very cool indeed. Thanks as always for putting this together, marvelous work!
That would be the title I expected to intrigue you most! It feels like it could be really cool, or a bit overambitious but we‘ll see! Oh yes, I‘m very much looking forward to Two Falls as well!
Great video Lile! So many unique and awesome art styles in this month's games! Indie titles are popping off haha
Oh they sure are. This year has truly been insane!
Awesome to have you back! Some great looking options here Lile and I think I could lose countless hrs with Mirthwood. Two Falls also peaked my interest. Soooo many options!
@@ParkeraNZ it‘s crazy how many cool games are releasing every month! And yes, Mirthwood looks like an absolute time sink
This review was delightful and won me over. Definitely getting Tin Hearts!
Haha! That makes me very happy to hear, I hope you have a great time with it!
Man. Many of these games and your reasonings, mainly in the case of Thirsty Suiters and the last two, get quite confronting. Seem like situations where looking at the world in black-and-white is a rare luxury and things are a lot more tangled from both the protagonists' side and the situation around them. Leaving some names before elaborating on them: Briar and Lute from Soulstice, Gretel from Magenta Horizon, Cherry and Regina from Cookie Cutter, Foam Gun from Zet Zillions, Globule from Decline's Drops, Even from Lost in Random. Although probably not an outright indie game, i want to mention Briar and Lute from Soulstice. Even if it gets a bit spoilery. Their game is in the genre of character action or hack-and-slash: think Darksiders, DMC, Bayonetta and stuff. The setting forces for certain people to have their souls tied together into one singular body, creating what is known as a Chimera. A Chimera consists of a Knight and a Shade. The Knight is one of the two "Supplicants' " bodies and mind, which navigates and fights physically and still retains the mind of that particular supplicant, while the Shade is immaterial and taps into the ether and magical powers, in order to make corrupted creatures and extradimensional ghosts vulnerable for the Knight to fight. Briar is the Knight, and Lute is her younger sister and the Shade. Briar's got a moody, stubborn and battle-eager disposition, a lot of frustration and resentment for the way Lute has ended up, stuck to her forever. She casts a lot of blame onto herself. Lute for her part is a very kind young lady, polite and receptive to the suffering of others. And she has never blamed Briar a single time for the way things have ended up. In certain parts we get to explore Briar's mind as Lute explores it, and we see the events that led up to becoming a Chimera. Firsthand we notice things that Briar has and has not told Lute about, from that anger and guilt that Briar still feels to this day. Instead of despairing or becoming angry, seeing this pain is all the more reason for Lute to want to be there for her older sister. Which she is, in both combat and words, and in their conversations with their few direct allies in a wraith-ridden mass grave of a city. It shows itself especially strongly in a moment near the endgame where personal revelations about their nature, and the direness of the situation, comes to a head. Briar believes it best to give up. Not just because of the overwhelming odds and a cataclysm nearing its climax, but because as a Chimera they are growing unstable and risking Transcendence: a transformation into a powerful, insane monster that would wreak more havoc and most likely undo their own personalities. And it is once more Lute, this young child, deprived of body yet full of warmth and wisdom beyond her years, that can reach out to her sister in the darkest of places. The entire game's got some themes of duality: some of the bosses are Transcended themselves and a reflection of how the intense bond required to make a Chimera, does not by necessity have to be a positive one. it's got its issues for sure and I love it a lot regardless. The others i'll leave for you to discover.
I can enjoy a more black-and-white story, like En Garde, for example, but when I truly think about what sticks with me and what hooks me then we're definitely talking messy and complex. My brain latches onto that stuff like a leech, maybe because it's a safe(er) way to deal with all of my complexities without directly involving other people. Oh damn, that sounds very anime :D But also super intriguing, thanks for sharing that! And talking about messy, I think, we, too, can sometimes have strong bonds with people that are not at all positive. Even if we don't want to tie ourselves to them, circumstances don't let us separate at points. Very poignant for sure. And you gave me homework! I know Lost in Random, and have heard about Cookie Cutter but I have to look up the other ones. Thank you for your thoughtful comment!
@@lilesindiecorner More than fair! Characters, stories, movies and games may be created with different purposes in mind, and the way such a project is executed can stick with us. It's like... different flavors i suppose. For example, Globule from Decline's Drops (which released yesterday)... she doesn't seem to have anything to say against anyone. She's here to take revenge on the big science empire that is responsible for destroying her garden. And she's simply a cute gardener ragdoll/puppet. I initially wanted to include Pseudo from Clash: Artifacts of Chaos for an example, because i dearly love that game. Simple case of an older, ugly martial arts hermit setting out on a "me against the world" type story. He self-admittedly likes things to be simple. The flavor comes from how he speaks to his opponents as well as how he and his companion speak to each other. Man's got room for sadness, determination, sass, wisdom, humor and even menace when needed. But i was thinking of the end of the game, the developments there. And thus Pseudo might not *fully* count. EITHER WAY: Can very warmly recommend Clash: Artifacts of Chaos as well. Have a listen to two of the tracks, The Boy Calls and Pseudo's Theme in that order. It's beautiful and awesome stuff That aside, i see your points on the stories and tales of more complex events and developments in peoples' lives feeling like a safer way of dealing with one's own complexities without directly involving others. It's like seeing examples of different roads you can take, right? Different ways to act, to react, to look at others and yourself. Even if not in such an *exact* situation, in one's own life there can be similar events unfolding. And perhaps the examples from other stories can work in a comforting or guiding way. As uncomfortable and confronting as it may be, the messy and negative examples are especially important in this way too. Seeing parts of ourselves in less positive characters is empathy and selfreflection, right? That's important to never let go of. As for Soulstice sounding like anime, you're not far off :P the Soulstice devs have cited the likes of Claymore and Berserk as some inspirations, i believe. I'm glad that description made you intrigued! Heck yeah! Lost in Random had a new game, a kind of side-quel (like how Darksiders Genesis was for the mainline Darksiders series) some weeks ago. Many people are already slamming it but i want to give it a chance. I hope all these titles will prove interesting and wish you a lot of fun and good luck on stuff for both YT and outside of it. Thank you in turn for taking the time for this reply! I'll have a look at the rest of your channel too.
@@jurtheorc8117 I completely understand when people want to use games simply for the purpose of escapism. Revenge story, farming, murdering millions of aliens, I think that's all valid, and as a means of unwinding, I personally love that as well. Sometimes I wanna go 'brain off, veg out'. But that's not the main reason why I play games. I like being challenged in some way on my views, or learning something new, see the world through someone else's genuine perception. Indie devs put a lot of themselves into their games and reflect on a lot of things through their art. That's what I love most about gaming. I've seen a lot of different family dynamics from my own, learned about how people deal with grief, or just gotten a glimpse of a culture I have never experienced. And I love that stuff, and that's what intrigues me most. Thank you for all these examples, now I need to note everything down, so I don't forget to look them up, because my brain is not made to retain information, sadly. Hope you have a wonderful Sunday!
Extra Coin and The Heirloom look so cute! Oh no, don't play Neighbour. Don't hurt the wolf cub!!! Prim reminds me of Don't Starve from the artstyle perspective, but the idea sounds so fun!
Oh, I will definitely play Neva, and I will cry :D Yeah, that's true! The demo was really fun, one of those where the humor actually hits, at least for me
Marvelously done! Forsaken Kin caught my eye for sure. I’m not the greatest fan of action RPG but that one looks to be perhaps more RPG and less action. And you’re not kidding about the art! What a gorgeous set of games this month. And funny on the Heirloom. I was just thinking “this reminds me of Oxenfree” and then you said exactly that. :) Thanks for putting this together, it’s great to have you back!
I guess we wait and see what the reviews say! I‘m super curious about that one as well, also when it comes to questing there in general, and how much information the game will provide. Right? This month is exceptional when it comes to unique-looking games. Haha! I‘m sure there‘s some inspiration there. Thank you, Mike! And thanks for stopping by!
So many women to adore here!! I definitely have to check out En Garde. If I should suggest one, Azami from Hatoful Boyfriend is amazing. (I was about to suggest Glados from Portal, but I think this is about human women. Like Azami!)
I think Glados is too powerful a presence to be contained by a top 5 😂 And yes, play En Garde 👀

Hell yeah, we do! Thanks for stopping by Tallara!
YES! The Indie Queen is back and never skipped a beat. This was fantastic Lile, its so great to have you and your wonderful content back. Greda being #2 means I must look at your top pick because you know how much I loved Gerda.
Thank you, Parkera ❤️❤️ The Wreck is a very different game but boy does it hit hard!
Wow, Gerda looks really really cool. I hadn't heard of that one at all. I'm definitely picking that one up. And I really like the angle this video takes on games. What a fun way to lead us all to new games to play. Superb work, the editing, the script, the pacing, all really sharp. Love this! I've been meaning to play Thirsty Suitors for a while, this is pushing it up my list for sure!
Thank you so much! Thirsty Suitors is bonkers but that's why it's so good, editing this video I was reminded how much I loved it!
Enjoyed this Lile! I’m going to nominate a character from a game that isn’t even out yet, but I get the feeling she’s going to be a very memorable one! It’s Harley Leger from Rosewater!
Hey there Turian, thanks for stopping by! Oh yes, I remember her from your demo test! You're absolutely right, she's gonna be amazing :D
Valid list, I'd add Celeste and Neon White !
I haven't listened to either, but added them to my list!
Was looking for more people that appreciate The Artful Escape and very glad I found this video. You relate to it in a unique way that was well told. TAE is the kind of experience that when it resonates with the right kind of people, it pushes them forward. I hope to join you one day in creating what you like because you like to create.
Thank you so much for the kind words! The Artful Escape was really one of those experiences for me that made me fall in love with gaming on a whole other level. I cannot wait for Betthoven & Dinosaurs new game, it looks just as heartfelt as this one. And I really do hope I can get back into video making again someday. Have a great Sunday!
I just watched a bunch of videos on your channel and bought a ton of games i hopefully will find the time to play soon, so thanks for that. Let me give one back to you: In Stars and Time is incredible and as queer as it gets. I think you might like it 🙂
Thank you for the kind words! I hope you have fun with the games you end up getting ☺️ Yes! That one is on my radar, I played the demo before. I‘m sure I‘m gonna play it once I find the time 🙈

Slime Rancher
True
I haven‘t listened to that one yet!
***SPOILER ALERT*** Wonderful review. I just completed the game and was so moved by the narrative in the latter stage of the game that I wanted to see what reviewers had to say about that part. Unfortunately, I realize that you can't easily discuss end game narrative without spoiling the game experience for others, but given how much I enjoyed the gameplay, I was VERY unhappy with the end game narrative arc and felt it almost, but not quite, spoiled the whole experience for me. We have enough sadness in the world today. Why take such a beautiful, heartwarming game experience and weigh it down with such a sad story. Yes, I would still recommend the game to anyone that likes puzzles, but if you are using the game as an emotional escape from the real world, then you should be warned that it gets very heavy in the 2nd half and particularly the end, so much so that I would be reluctant to recommend it for children. <sigh> Such a wonderful, beautiful game. Why did they need to make it so sad. But all that said, I was also very moved by your review and I think you have a great future ahead as a UA-cam game reviewer. Good luck.
Thank you for the kind words! I completely understand your reaction. I personally have a very different opinion but I can see that a downer ending like this can spoil an otherwise great experience. But I also do think the devs tried to give it a little more positive spin. But you are right, it would definitely be for older children
hope You're doing better soon.....
