Original Description: I do not believe that there exists anything such as a 'bugdiver' or a 'botdiver.' There are simply people with a higher tolerance of annoying mechanics. Let's talk about why my favorite faction can be so unfun.

the bots front is supposed to simulate a fight against a trained army. Do we telegraph our next attack to them? No. I understand the frustration of dying out of nowhere, but that's also the highlight of the bots front. Here's my tips to somewhat counter the problem: always assume the worse. You see a reinforced strider? Look for cover because it might shoot you with a rocket. Gunship? it could have been worse, imagine it shoot flashbang grenade at you, the read light is nothing, and you can kinda visualize its shape so it isn't much of a problem
"i never understood the hate for tone" "tone is predictable" Theres a large part of ur answer, tone is BORING to fight. As well as super easy to play and be effective with.

Look i see your pinned comment. But i want to give some advice to see if it would help you in your future battles against the Bots. No idea how you play now but i did put some notes about your playstyle biased on video. Try using the Shield Generator Relay Station, mobile cover for when you are in the middle of an empty field, on the MO or need to use a terminal without being rag dolled or shot at, its also good for Evac and has a short cooldown. Call it in last after all other call downs as Hellpods will break it. Shield Backpack is ... ok but you will get a bigger hitbox due to the shield being bigger than the Helldiver. Which will lead to more Ragdoll due to rockets. Not i stratagem i use against the bots. Use Medium or Heavy armor, yes this will feel strange, slow and annoying. However Medium and Heavy will let you tank more than 4-5 standard shots to the chest and with Fortified Perk, you will take so much more less damage from a Striders Rocket which you can survive if you for heavier armor. 4:17 Example I noticed you tend to stay in more open locations when shooting, yes you take cover but you leap out of it to shoot quite often. 4:04 and 5:39 is a good example, you had cover and can shoot over it but you walk out of cover before you took a shot, twice. before dying. No idea what weapon you use against the bots since the update but i like the Purifier even before the changes since the Charged up shots do massive AOE and Stagger all units up to Hulk and above ( cant stun Hulks, simply using it as a profile ). Striders take 2 shots in the crotch with the Senator now too, quick way to dispatch them. Hope this will help you out there against the Bots. I like fighting against them more than the Bugs in recent times, everyone has their preferences and playstyle which i like that about this game.

on one hand, it's poor design, but on the other hand, i think it is kind of cool that the bot front is close to a 'true equal' war. the bots are truly a formidable enemy! they want to win the war, why would they make it obvious what they're about to do?
100 hours in one week is crazy
Honestly, i would fix very little things with the automaton. (At least for team fights, not solo). If you position right and know the shoot timings(if you try a bit you can actually "feel" the moment the turrets and tanks will shoot) everything will be alright. What i would change is the little shitty animation that the dropships do before disembarking ..... dodging my shots everytime. (Ps: you do not need the shield against the bot. Even at level 8. 9 or 10 is different, i need to get better to know.)

While I got used to some of the points you've made with regards to bot front, I totally agree that units that use white rocket (barrager and strider) should either have an indicator that they are about to fire (as for striders the indicator could potentially be only for when they're about to fire a white rocket, not the lasers) or the rockets need a nerf. I feel like the only way I die on bot front are these rockets. Another thing is that striders spawn in MASSIVE waves, to me, they should mix the spawn rates of regular reinforced strider and the normal one, making the reinforced one sort of elite unit. I also love the idea of enemy randomizer needs to be introduced so badly that I'm very happy someone finally mentions it. On bug front, I'm mainly using Stalwart and when the game gives you entire map full of bile spewers, it makes some of the weapons almost completely useless, leaving you hoping that you either end up on map where it spawns millions of smaller enemies or you're screwed.
As a counter to this i would say that most of the enemies you listed do no need Telegraphing because they appear in such large amounts. If you step out of cover or break formations with your team and get pinned that's your fault. The Bots are mean to be an onslaught of artillery, rockets and gunfire so you need to employ guerrilla tactics to beat them. That is warfare 101 and works in a multitude of shooter games and this game is no different. Also all of the games you showed at the beginning are hack and slash games that have mechanics designed around maintaining a grip on each fight. Helldivers doesn't and shouldn't have a method of perfection.

Yeah the unpredictable rocket firing sucks. I always have to use heavy armor with 30% blast resistance. That works better for me. Also, crossbow paired with the ballistic shield is so good. It allows me to take my time without worrying about red lasers coming straight at me.

im fine with being squishy if it rewards tactical gameplay but being squishy AND getting constantly ragdolled AND every automaton laser doing absurd dmg it becomes a little much.

Welcome to war, where the enemies don't make it obvious what they're gonna do.
I think the automatons telegraph their attacks well enough. They let you know they're going to shoot you by shooting at you as soon as their little 5 second recognition time is up. If by then you're not already behind cover or finding cover, you're going to be shot.
I know people hate the bots. But i personally love fighting them
This adds a level of realism, you shoot at a base they will all light you up. The scythe doesnt have any notice before firing, nor any of the other guns. As for dying to stuff you never saw because you werent looking and paying attention to your surroundings is a situational awareness problem. I dont think this game needs to ask permission to shoot at you. Not trying to be hostile, i just disagree.

A enhanced surveillance module that shows the enemy composition during the loadout screen would be nice. In low difficulties these problems are not as pronounced so it would be okay to grind for such a module.
Why would robots trying to kill you telegraph their attacks?

Yeah, L take. “Enemy troopers don’t give me a heads up they’re about to blast me!” No shit, for the most part, Automaton enemies don’t require telegraphing like the Bugs because they’re ranged fighters. Their telegraph is that they’re aiming at you. So take cover, dummy! Berserkers telegraph their swings, you can react and dive. Rocket devastators change stances when firing their rockets. You’re supposed to take advantage of cover, and in lieu of cover, damage them to throw off their accuracy. That’s the counter-play, they can’t hit you really if you suppress them and damage them. In most of these clips I see you complaining about Automatons, I see you’re out of cover in front of swarms of enemies, usually without allies giving you cover fire. Use cover, attack when you have the advantage, or use teamwork and or stratagems to take care of these enemies when you can’t use cover. You aren’t a one man army, you’re going up against hundreds of automatons.
Play lower difficulties, many of us clear bots consistently, you said it yourself, skill issue, if you cant handle them play bugs or a lower difficulty or learn how to play against them properly, most random games i join i end up having to solo half the map while my team is dying on cooldown fighting everything they see out in the open. And even w playing them correctly there will always be moments you get absolutely fucked its their design, they dont need to be changed, learn how to play the game and most missions go smoothly (defend the missiles is the exception they need to remove barrage tanks from those missions i dont even care about them spawning 4 factory striders, those barrage tanks make you lose those defense missions way too often)

You are perfectly on point with what makes bots SO frustrating, I have tons of fun vs them, I prefer their challenge, bugs are very tame but my whole build and whole strategy is specifically made around INSTANTLY killing striders the second I spot one, or else, its spontaneous explotion time! OR ELSE... Its ragdoll till you die time! I literally crave for my end once the ridiculous ragdoll ping pong match begins, I dont care for heavy armor because of that, it just prolongs my suffering... Also the BS explody spore plants that always get randomly shot in the most perfect way to screw you, I avoid those planets like the plague, only they are the most common fking hazard in the game. Im glad someone is talking about this, keep up the nice videos!
I would say North Star is cheesy as its hover can be very good for getting up hills faster or shooting other titans through little gaps plus it also counters scorch very well scorch as such a large hull its a perfect target for a charged plasma railgun and cluster missile while she does not have any defensive abilities her dash is good enough since she is so nimble. Now comments do you have any objections?
I have more fun on bots then bugs (mainly because i rarely got to that farm) but i honestly agree with all the point you made; there need to more telegrafs for attacks and AH should take heavy inspiration from DRG, not just in making modifiers but also distinct sounds for all the special enemies; ghost ship added the stalker as an inspiration from the helldivers one and the bigest difference between the two is that you always know its presence when it is in the cave because it makes a very distinct and recognizable sound very often. And i honestly think that all the bug and bot enemies should get distinct sounds. (Not as much for bots since they all already make diferent sounds firing and some even make sounds already)
me when the obviously brutal and merciless cyborgs created by fusing dead bodies and twisted wires into an entangled mess of organs and machine who's only objective is to kill everything and everyone on sight doesn't give a que that its going to shoot me with every possible weapon at its disposal. p.s. i get your stand point and all but you physically cant compare the bots to the bugs because of how radically different they are. It would be like trying to compare the tactics of the Japanese during ww2 to that of the Germans, there is just too far of a gap in technology, strategy, and weaponry even if its just in a video game.
