The Substance (2024) Reaction (Demi Moore's BEST Performance) (Request)
Hey Guys! This is one of the wildest and craziest horror movies I've ever seen. But put that aside for a moment; It's also just a good movie on top of that. Put the two together, and you really have a winner. Best performance I've ever seen from Demi Moore. And also fantastic job from Margaret Qualley as well as a smaller but great role for Dennis Quaid.

Hey All! This was a pretty enjoyable horror movie! The creature in this film did not turn out to be what I expected at all. Aside from that, the story was good, and I like the social themes that were explored in this one! This video is purely for commentary purposes, and is NOT a replacement for the original film. Hey All! We're back with another gorefest, and this time I'm going into this one having met the real Art the Clown, Mr. David Howard Thornton himself! So, with the first movie I'll be straight-up honest. It was just okay. I rated it a 5/10. This sequel was an improvement over the first for sure. Although, the main strength in this series is the unbelievably large amounts of gore and violence. E...

Hey All! I had my friend Luis sit in on this one since I've seen this in the theater. If you've seen any of my horror reactions, you know that I prefer supernatural horror to slasher-type horror, but despite that I still find this to be one of the best horror movies that has come out in recent years. Hey Guys! This was a super ambitious horror movie. At times I got lost in the logic, but have no doubt, this was a good movie. I find myself drawn to it for some reason. Maybe it's the feeling of nostalgia it gives me, as this is from the era when I first began seeing horror movies. Or maybe it's because it's from the mind of one of the greatest masters of horror this planet has ever seen. This...

    I saw the film for the first time after "Saving Private Ryan" and thought it was bad. I saw the film again 10 years later. I can't say what it was, but the scene at the beginning, where he talks about immortality and the death of his mother, made me cry. This whole scene is so magical: Hans Zimmer's music is so breathtaking. Then the heartbeat and the ticking of the clock in a metaphor. And the birds in the cage and the dying woman in the bed, trapped in life! I watched the film to the end and it has been my favorite film ever since then. The scene I was writing about is in my opinion the best scene in film history. Greetings from Germany

    Horror and Nicolas Cage. How bad the things could go? Totally (in a good way): Richard Stanley found the way to expose Lovecraft's concept of cosmic horror as a 'thing' from other place that you cannot define properly and that it changes eveything in its path. I love this movie. Great reaction.❤

    "I wonder what it would be like when I died. What it would be like to know that this breath was the one that you was ever going to draw" - Witt That became true for him at the end. He realized that his mortality was in his control. He knew when his last breath would be taken when he raised his rifle at the Japanese.

    I think Witt just found his peace. At the beginning of the movie, he talked about facing his death with the same calm as his mother did. He felt it and was ready. You can see that in his expression in the end.

    A very nice reaction, I really liked it! I found it particularly interesting to see it reviewed by someone who was in the military themselves. A lot of well-known German actors play here, some in their first major roles. And the actor who plays the war correspondent is actually a pretty well-known singer in Germany. And if you are interested in other good war films that clearly show the perspective of German soldiers in World War II without glorifying them, I can only recommend the German film "Stalingrad" from 1993. There is also a remake of it, but I definitely recommend the 1993 original!

    The movie is asking the question, "Isn't the audience actually the devil?" to audiences who are gradually accustomed to the brutality of the main character. It was a movie that made us feel alert that we could always be demons. It was hard to endure and watch because it was a bloody movie all the time, but it was worth it.

    To clear up something. Boats would operate in groups called wolfpaks. A sub would find a convoy and signal other close boats to group up. They would attack the convoy together and not only inflict greater damage but also tax the escorts preventing uboat sinkings as they would be hunting someone else or pulling sailors out of the water. At 20:16 the captain has received such a signal but is too far away to make it in time.

    I love how in horror movies like this, characters act like it's totally normal to see ghosts in reflections/mirrors and reflections not acting normal or say seeing an object move on its own and they don't freak out over it or don't act in a normal way that people would in real life when witnessing paranormal occurrences.

    Sue is young and, like most young people, she's irresponsible, immature, selfish, greedy... On the other hand, Elisabeth is bitter towards her reality, her older self. So, to me they are one, sharing two different bodies but the hunger to be young causes Sue to take over, despite Elisabeth knowing the consequences of not switching. Just like young people do: they over-party, over-work, despite knowing it's not good for them.

    • @joaoferreira-gh8nn
      @joaoferreira-gh8nn 19 днів тому

      So, for example: when she's watching Sue on TV, she's watching through Elisabeth's reality, which she, now, despises. It's painful being herself now that Sue is in the picture. So, to me: they share the same consciousness, but, because they are separate entities, the way they experience things is very different, depending on the body from which they are having the experiences. Does that make any sense? Kkkk That's how I understand it.

    It's hard to believe Das Boot never won an academy award. It was deserving of one in my opinion. It's a masterpiece and probably one of the best if not the best WW2 films ever made. The film takes, even audiences from ww2 allied nations on an emotional roller coaster with the crew and humanises them to such an extent that we empathise, feel and hope for the crew of a WW2 German U-Boat over the allied nations destroyers hunting them. The sound stage of the remastered directors cut, adding 5.1 truly adds to the atmosphere during some of those tense underwater scenes. Thanks for your reaction!

    Great reaction. Like all of Malick's films, this is a layered film. Like you said, it feels honest and paces like real life. I have to make a point about the comparisons people make with Private Ryan. Spielberg focuses on the strong image itself as a storytelling device. Malick does not really concern himself with story in the first place. The war is depicted more like a moving canvas for Malick, he uses the characteristics of battle to say something about the unnerving thread of war - hostility - in 'regular' life. This is why with such a large cast of characters, they are all memorable not because of character or plot development, but the insight into men as embodied souls who all respond differently to the circumstances or questions confronting them. None of this was to say something about war itself, but about life as an existential arena of conflict, reflected in battle scenery. - In ranking all the war films, at least the ones that seem to question the "means to an end" violent nature of war, therefore that have made an impact critically or with pop culture at large, in my mind Red Line belongs at top. The reason is that it is by far the most subversive filmmaking for the genre - you could really call it the anti war-film, instead of another anti-war film. Private Ryan is a patriotic art piece, and the sentimentalism doesn't ring true to the subject matter. As a society we are at risk of overestimating ourselves, and something like Private Ryan caters to that overestimation. In close combat, you will expect a sensation of messiness, confusion, and ambivalence about intentions and actions. We are still talking about the human species divided against itself. Its clearly in our nature, but at the same time its not. You can see it in the soldier's faces, on both sides. So it is absolutely appropriate that the film like you said is moving along in real time, not really sure what it wants to be.

    The thing about the spino in this movie, it was actually experimented on, so it's actually stronger than a regular Spino. Because realistically, a spino is not winning against a T-Rex. So in reality it's the first Indominous Rex.

    51:30 - He didn't really care about Lt. Werner/Buchheim (they did become kind of friends over time, but weren't yet during that tour), he mostly wanted to get the engineer (whom he _was_ friends with at that time) home to his wife, and as he said, they wouldn't go through the trouble for just one person, so he wanted to send the only "expendable" person of the crew along with the engineer, the war correspondent.
