back to my beginning 🎒
Home is where the heart is, but mine is split in three.
From childhood to adolescence, and well into adulthood, I’ve been fortunate enough to experience multiple cultures throughout my narrative.
While we can dwell on the finer criteria of what constitutes a home, one place anchors me through the turbulence like no other.
Here it is-a journey back to where it all began, on the day that started everything decades ago.
This is a letter sent to a postal code without a singular recipient, with the city’s signature weather and a fog denser than the gaps in my memories.

I’ve always wanted to visit Guangzhou ever since being introduced to it… Still learning Cantonese as a South African 3:34 is a really nice ramp up to see everything in the pace of the music- how you were taking your Time for the nostalgia to kick in and then to see how fast Time flies. Beautiful colour grading❤️

Damn I miss 双皮奶! I lived in Guangzhou for about 7 years. I taught at 东川路小学 at some stage. So many memories in this video. Yuexiu Park, Canton Tower, the roast duck shops. Beautifully made film.

I’m sorry that your present is not where you want to be 🥹 I think in this case, those around you are still wishing for the best for you nonetheless and hoped to shield you from the overwhelming thoughts of the future or the past. We have the power to pivot our paths in the present, and the lens we choose to approach our cards is half of the work that needs to be done. I hope you’ll hang on to the parts that speaks to you, and use them as your reservoir to sustain you while moving towards where you want to be.
