Making A Big Ruckus
Приєднався 18 січ 2022
This channel is dedicated to sharing my daily repair projects on the vehicles I own, including the Honda Big Ruckus. While I’m not an expert, I aim to help fill the gap in resources for maintaining and repairing the Big Ruckus, one of the most sought-after scooters. From routine maintenance like oil changes to more involved tasks like gear adjustments, I document the process to make it easier for others to tackle their own repairs. Feel free to reach out with any questions at hondabigruckuschannel@gmail.com.

Honda Big Ruckus: Fuel Filter Change
Hi there! I bought a 93' about 4 years ago and have had more good times with it than I can count. Love it for weekend camping trips and trail driving - no worries about dinging it up, as it only adds to the charm. Hope you enjoy yours.
Howdy! And happy new year. So sir the real and over asked question is this. The true top speed of a big ruck. / when they start getting up in mileage I’m sure the top speed goes and. & lastly isn’t it bad to keep a motor at its top speed for long periods of time? Hope you’re doing good and you got a new sub from ‘me:)
oh wow, that’s my buddies old Navajo. me and him used to have the deepest talks in there for hours. i remember him telling me he would rather sell it than doing the shocks 😂 hope it treats you well
How do you get that 22 bolt off it keep spinning
Hello, you need to use an impact gun
I don’t understand the hate. This seems like a considerate accommodation for your little guy. I’m starting to think the internet was a mistake.
The internet and social media. Though here we are, using it. And I agree, seems like he's really trying to help his dog.
I would love for Harbor Freight to come out with an affordable inductive bolt/nut heater.
Trying to do some research, not many videos on of the big ruckus. I was gifted a free big ruckus clone. Do you know if the parts for the nornal ruckus and the big one are interchangeable?
He doesn’t want to be inside? And your 80 acres makes it difficult for you to be around? To let him go in and out?
Sorry, but why he has to be inside that little house instead of the true home?
He likes being outside roams around the 80 acres checking on things, so if we are off doing something and he wants in but we aren’t around this is a good option for him to stay in and rest. Otherwise he’s in the house every night
Believe it or not dogs used to be kept outside instead of the spoiled princesses they've all become today. Now we can't even let our dogs be dogs because of people getting offended that we don't bring them into their "true home"
Not everything needs to go on UA-cam
Like your comment? 👍🏼
Love those coin holders
True convenience
These 4wd systems don't use any vacuum lines. They have automatic locking hubs, but they're not vacuum-operated. They're purely mechanical. When you shift into 4wd and the transfer case starts spinning the front driveline, the rotating axle shafts engage a mechanism in the hubs and they automatically lock. To unlock the hubs, you need to shift back into 2wd, shift into reverse, and back up about 10 feet. Going backwards with the axle shafts NOT spinning disengages the mechanism in the hubs and makes them unlock. The automatic hubs are notoriously unreliable, but you easily convert to manual locking hubs.
You are correct I was wrong about there being vacuum lines. Was definitely a learning experience through out, happy I figured it out though!
Sometimes you gotta give it a under 5mph roll to get 4x4 to engage (you'll get the top light, but not the lower 4x4 light). If it's clicking it's trying.....(your hearing the shift motor) If you get the lower light, your xfer case is indeed locked and your front axle shouldn't move freely anymore. If your xfer case is in 4x4 but it's not working, I'd suspect the hubs... they are really terrible, but they are the same model as a few yrs of cherokee's, so they are around at junkyards. I found some and they really help, stock auto hubs are just trash.
I really appreciate the info!
I bought one of these about 12yrs ago for $700, had a bad miss. Slapped a set of wires/plugs in it, and put another 100k on it as a work truck, most reliable vehicle in the family fleet. There is really nothing that can't be fixed for $25bucks, and it's so easy to work on. I would start shopping for manual hubs though, those automatic ones are just terrible... they unlock in reverse by design, so you can't use 4x4 in reverse, and K turns on offroads trails are quite difficult.
Great call out on the manual hubs I’ll definitely consider them if I decide to turn it into a plow truck/suv.
I loved that ending. I did get the point. That's a great tool.
Too lazy to just lift the tarp?
Not about laziness that’s a lot of water to try and move, tarp is sunken in and not something you just lift up
Good but we need to know how much it improves it so do a simple road test comparison
2hr project
Were the holes you drilled for the screws on the e start?
So the air filter just sits in the open against the elements like that? What happens when it rains on the way home?
water may go in the carb and boom
Glad to hear that you’re safe and I’m sorry for your hardships. I live in North Dakota so welcome back to the Midwest. As a fellow Big Ruckus owner, who does all of his own wrenching, I’ve watched your videos and they’ve helped immensely. Keep up the good work!
Love my Navi, just bought a new 22, looks just like this one. Subbed.
Did anyone else notice in the video that when installing the sliders they got two unside down compared to the other 4? The third slider that he put in and the 6th slider in variaor was backwards compared to the other 4!!
I already have the Molassi racing clutch on my NSS250 but does the Costa variator make the scooter accelerate quicker than the stock variator? I have switched over 4 years ago to the face "B" of the Big Ruckus away from the Reflex variator and it helped my acceleration 0 to 45 mph greatly but would you know other than the smoother shifting of the variations is the Costa variator any quicker on acceleration?
Honda service manual for this engine says never to screw the dipstick in to check the oil level on these engines, you must only insert the dipstick to the start of the threads and remove it to check the oil level. If you screw it in you will be always running the engine approximately .2 or two tenths of a quart low and full oil from empty on an oil change only needs 1.2 quarts according to the sevice manual. On my Reflex NSS250 (same engine) I have found it much easier to get the drain plug threads to align better and quicker by for one thing using a 6 point socket and not a 12 point when reassembling and use a long extension in the socket when starting, by hand, to rethread the drain plug. I found it much easier to control the drain plug angle when fighting the spring tension with this method. I fought with trying to do it with my fingers also when I first bought the bike and it is just more of a pain to do it like that. Also with the socket and extension there is much less chance of crossing the threads.😁
Wow! Sorry for all the loss you have experienced. I'm glad you are okay and hope Minnesota is the right place for you & yours. I look forward to your content. I picked-up a '05 Big Ruckus with 3,400 miles on it a few weeks ago (from Minneapolis, MN - I'm in Colorado Springs, CO) and have enjoyed your content as I am going through it and getting all the delayed maintenance done. It's such a fun machine and I'd like to plan an epic ride on it in the next year or two.
I know it’s to each is own but why are you doing this , in my opinion with the breather set up you are installing is not gonna fair well for you if you get caught in a rain storm, the only thing I changed on mine was the rollers and it made a big difference in top end and take off , it’s way more than I need I’m leaving the rest of it alone
After installing the Vance and Hines on my Navi it’s now running lean. Idk if I installed it wrong. Didnt use the washers or the damper because I didnt see anyone use it on their install. Rides but kind of chugs and will eventually stall. Any ideas?
Way better than vance hynes pos header that broke twice within 2 months😢300 wasted money
Who else thought that it sounded like a two stroke with out the baffle
Best description yet
Do you happen to know where I can find a wiring diagram for my 2005-06 Honda big Ruckus 250 CC
The handlebar can be trimmed
DONT TAKE THE STORAGE BOX OFF OR COVER BEHIND IT I STRUGGLED FOR 2 HOURS PUTTING IT BACK ON!!!
ew you should a powertool to install everything back together.
Quick question does this air filter helps to improve performance on the Honda Navi?
Pll0p0 Pp
those Dowel pins usually pull right out with some pliers
If you do the intake do you have to jet it
❤
good to know about the brake tension in back! i have the exact issue gonna try that. thanks!!!!
Hi, do you need to jet the carb in order to change the filter? Thank you!
Generally yes
in your video you say these are Dr. Pulley 11g Rollers but what size? I see there is a 15x12 and 18x14 physically these look most like the 15x12 but what exact ones are you using please?
What do you mean that it's "sort of" the transmission?
Hi great video. I used NCY 12g rollers and managed to get the bike up to 52mph. But at the top end speed I’m getting a vibration, any thoughts on why? I did notice the 12g rollers have different looking sides on them. Do you know if they all have to go in the same direction? 12g Rollers did not come with any directions and can’t seem to find any information or videos on it. Thank you
Hi, how are you. My name is Giovanni Vargas, I'm from Bogotá-Colombia. I want to know if you can send me the complete list of spare parts to do that installation. Thanks.
Thanks for these videos
Pardon me for being contrary but if the weights are lighter you will get a faster acceleration and mid range but a lower top end. Heavier weights result in a higher top end and slower acceleration. Heavier weights result in a higher top end and slower acceleration. I would really like to see somebody put in some slightly heavier weights to see if they get more top speed.
What diameter are the handlebars?
Pro Taper KLX110/DRZ110: Width: 32 in. Height: 6 1/2 in. Rise: 5 1/2 in. Base: 4 in. Sweep: 2 1/2 in. Hope that helps
Great video !
Thank you Gerry!
Can you just throw the intake on the navi or do you need to have it tuned and all sorts of other post modifications to make it work correctly I want to mainly throw the air intake on for better breathing I don't really know how to tune carbs or do jet kids yet I'm a novice
Hello, you would want to change the air fuel mixture for best performance
