    Does temperature & humidity affect curing time?

    • @CNTHINGS
      @CNTHINGS 25 днів тому

      It can. Generally colder temps make for longer curing time. Excess humidity can cause curing issues or cause curing to fast which makes the the bond weaker. However 5 min epoxy is less susceptible to these issues because of the already short cure time compared to a longer curing epoxy/resin.

    They have 1x3 or 1x4 boards (8ft) at Home Depot for around $2.00 or $3.00 if you buy in bulk. I'm thinking of just buying those and running them through a planer to clean them up a bit and them routering an edge. The cost is about 1/4 of what it would run if I just bought finished moulding. Should save about $300-400 doing this for my basement remodel. Using drywall, that's a whole other level of cheap, very impressive, I don't have the time for that.

    I'm wondering if this can be used to cover acrylic keychains that I make. I bought some but it just seems intimidating to me. How long does it take to harden?

    • @CNTHINGS
      @CNTHINGS Місяць тому

      @@llumpkin82 You'd have to test it to know for sure but here's my two cents. I'd say no. These epoxies can get hot when curing which can cause issues with acrylic which is susceptible to melting and warping. Secondly this isn't art grade resin. Meaning that it likely won't give you a clear coat effect in the finish and will severely yellow over time. If you still wanted to try it. It gets hard in about an hour. Full cure in 16 hours. But I'd recommend spending a couple bucks more and getting an resin clear coat that's actually designed for casting and art projects.

I lost the manual, but looked at the product page again and it CLEARLY says tool-free belt changes.. Umm, no? That's like 7 bolts/screws... How do you? What?? Anyways, I'm probably going to just leave the covers off. All other brands, like WEN don't have that crap and they are indeed tool-free. IDK, why make the claim if it's simply not true?

    • @CNTHINGS
      @CNTHINGS 2 місяці тому

      Yes always mix them equally and stir throughly, both parts together cause a chemical reaction that turns it into glue. Either part by its self doesn't work as glue.

    I will say that anytime that I've had a concern about any of their products, they simply refund that $Amount$ back to my cc and tell me to keep the item. I recently bought an area rug for $13. It really wasn't a rug but more like a tapestry.....too thin to be a rug. They immediately refunded the $13 and now I have a "tapestry" of a bear hanging in my garage~~~ Some of the items are very cheap and crap.....but hey; It's China. (They are in the same "Quality" position that Japan was back in the 60's). But other products are surprising decent quality.

    Good project and well done. With material prices as they are, finding material that can be repurposed is a must. For wood, you might try reclaiming some from pallets. Welding on concrete can be dangerous. Any trapped moisture can cause a violent reaction as trapped pressure increases within the concrete.

    Hey bro. I want to ask how flexible is the cured product? I have a canoe with some flex. I wanted to seal/fill a huge scrape on the canoe. My concern is that the canoe has some give and flexibility would this cause the glue to crack.

    • @CNTHINGS
      @CNTHINGS 5 місяців тому

      If it's prepped well and it's just cosmetic than l think it would work. But I don't think I'd trust it to actually fix a canoe. Probably better off buying a little resin kit that's not so thick and a bit of fiberglass to make a proper patch. Might cost a few more bucks but would do a much better job.

    Alright people have to stop fucking mentioning that dystopian giant; it's not trying to brand itself as a reputable retailer of quality products, they want to be perceived as a *super cheap* option of maybe-just-decent products. You're literally giving them the best ad they can possibly hope for. ...Or you can do what you want and keep indirectly supporting child labour, slavery and oppression. Can't really stop you, I guess. It must feel nice to blissfully ignore the horrors you support.

    I've tried to explain Temu to people but where I live most Americans are "China-scared" and think buying from Temu is selling out America's interests. It's the same stuff in Amazon, most of the time. You're just buying from a middleman in the US that takes a larger cut and so they pass that expense to you. If Amazon supported American interests, businesses, families then maybe I would buy from them. If I can't get it locally, I go directly to Temu. As for the data harvesting... Can't say much there. Everyone harvests your data. Only difference is what each entity does with it. If all they want is to market better then I'm fine with it. But as you mentioned, the holding company has done shady stuff before and I've never known a corrupt company to change for the better.

    My issue with Temu and apps/companies like them (Shein, et al.) is, in addition to the concerns you raise here about data/security, that you just know prices this low can only result from, shall we say….non-kosher labor practices. All these “race to the bottom” shopping apps are supported by horrific workforce conditions and abuses. If something seems too cheap to be possible, it’s usually because it is.

      If someone's that desperate for a drink, they can just have it. I mean, it's made of wood, so some real good whacks with a hammer would get you in there too. Or a saw, for that matter. A blowtorch would probably work. A hole saw through the top, and then you could just lift each bottle out. You could also just knock the pin out of the hinge with a nail and some pliers. Or just get a lockpick and spend three minutes on UA-cam learning how to pick it. Then you could even get in without damaging the decorative cabinet.
