    Doesn't pinching down on the vinyl siding with the mounting block cause the siding to deform during expansion and contraction?

    • @CNTHINGS
      @CNTHINGS Місяць тому

      Good question. Part of the vinyl is already touching the wall of the building. So as long as you've cut the notches correctly you should only be pinching on the part that's already touching the wall so the rest is not under enough pressure to deform. Hopefully that makes sense.

    Does temperature & humidity affect curing time?

    • @CNTHINGS
      @CNTHINGS 3 місяці тому

      It can. Generally colder temps make for longer curing time. Excess humidity can cause curing issues or cause curing to fast which makes the the bond weaker. However 5 min epoxy is less susceptible to these issues because of the already short cure time compared to a longer curing epoxy/resin.

    They have 1x3 or 1x4 boards (8ft) at Home Depot for around $2.00 or $3.00 if you buy in bulk. I'm thinking of just buying those and running them through a planer to clean them up a bit and them routering an edge. The cost is about 1/4 of what it would run if I just bought finished moulding. Should save about $300-400 doing this for my basement remodel. Using drywall, that's a whole other level of cheap, very impressive, I don't have the time for that.

    I'm wondering if this can be used to cover acrylic keychains that I make. I bought some but it just seems intimidating to me. How long does it take to harden?

    • @CNTHINGS
      @CNTHINGS 4 місяці тому

      @@llumpkin82 You'd have to test it to know for sure but here's my two cents. I'd say no. These epoxies can get hot when curing which can cause issues with acrylic which is susceptible to melting and warping. Secondly this isn't art grade resin. Meaning that it likely won't give you a clear coat effect in the finish and will severely yellow over time. If you still wanted to try it. It gets hard in about an hour. Full cure in 16 hours. But I'd recommend spending a couple bucks more and getting an resin clear coat that's actually designed for casting and art projects.

Anyways, I'm probably going to just leave the covers off. All other brands, like WEN don't have that crap and they are indeed tool-free. IDK, why make the claim if it's simply not true?

    • @CNTHINGS
      @CNTHINGS 5 місяців тому

      Yes always mix them equally and stir throughly, both parts together cause a chemical reaction that turns it into glue. Either part by its self doesn't work as glue.

    I will say that anytime that I've had a concern about any of their products, they simply refund that $Amount$ back to my cc and tell me to keep the item. I recently bought an area rug for $13. It really wasn't a rug but more like a tapestry.....too thin to be a rug. They immediately refunded the $13 and now I have a "tapestry" of a bear hanging in my garage~~~ Some of the items are very cheap and crap.....but hey; It's China. (They are in the same "Quality" position that Japan was back in the 60's). But other products are surprising decent quality.

    Good project and well done. With material prices as they are, finding material that can be repurposed is a must. For wood, you might try reclaiming some from pallets. Welding on concrete can be dangerous. Any trapped moisture can cause a violent reaction as trapped pressure increases within the concrete.

    Hey bro. I want to ask how flexible is the cured product? I have a canoe with some flex. I wanted to seal/fill a huge scrape on the canoe. My concern is that the canoe has some give and flexibility would this cause the glue to crack.

    • @CNTHINGS
      @CNTHINGS 7 місяців тому

      If it's prepped well and it's just cosmetic than l think it would work. But I don't think I'd trust it to actually fix a canoe. Probably better off buying a little resin kit that's not so thick and a bit of fiberglass to make a proper patch. Might cost a few more bucks but would do a much better job.
