    One thing that is to be commended here is that this company clearly employed a good designer. Too often the companies in this industry, both the high and low end, seem to release products that were 'designed' by some sort of perverse committee of Engineer + CEO's teenage stepson. I mean, take Zoom for instance. They've been responsible for a temporary loss of vision for me on several occasions....

    I played for years on a Boss GT6. Yes the old gold one. Boss makes the best effects for the masses I think. After my GT6 was retired I decided to give line 6 a try with the HD500. They make awesome time based effects but their drive effects don’t cut it for me. So then I decided to build a regular pedalboard. But I recently joined a band who have no amps on stage. The other guitarist uses a fractal FM9. I thought I would take the plunge and i absolutely love it. No more GAS for me. But there are so many companies in the modeling game now so you can definitely find great units on a budget. My GT6 was my go to for years but now I’m sold on modeling.

I swear the Arena 2000 I owned did NOT have MIDI in, but I just looked at the Donner Arena on Amazon and it does have MIDI IN, but no MIDI Out, so I assume you can expand the Arena with a MIDI pedal, but the Valeton, you won't need an extra pedal.

    Every time I buy the latest gen modeler/profiler/multi fx pedal the honeymoon is over within six months. I find myself going back to my amps and my pedals. I end up using the modeler/profiler/multi fx pedal as an interface for silent practice or recording since the sounds are there and it is more convenient that setting up a mic and trying to not get a knock on the door from the cops. More and more amps are now coming standard with an XLR DI out with either emulated cab or IR built in. This solves one of the hassles of playing live and entices guitar players to come back to the amp.

    • @JayceAllanGuitar
      @JayceAllanGuitar День тому

      I'm about over this pedal already because it has every feature but the kitchen sink, yet I only need clean, distorted, reverb and some phase, chorus or tremolo. It's really wasted on me. I practiced Saturday with it, and although it sounds great, I ended up using only one preset, even though I had programmed a few for various songs. Live, only one of the distorted tones I had picked out cut through the stage volume. So I think I'm going to look into the Tone X One and a couple effects pedals. Keep things simple. I don't miss lugging an amp around though.

    • @JimThompson-i3u
      @JimThompson-i3u День тому

      @@JayceAllanGuitar I hear you about lugging an amp around...I have a '74 Twin Reverb that stays in one spot. I like the idea of simplifying things but it just doesn't work for me playing live or at practice. I like the feeling of air moving through speakers and I like the limitations & character of a dedicated amp. There's always a disconnect if I just have a modeler into the PA. I think I found the best solution for me by way of Laney's new LF Super60 212. Solid state amp that sounds amazing. It has the XLR DI out with IR. It only weighs 31#. I'm a tube snob and this amp does it for me. I love it. I'm going to get a second one for an awesome stereo setup.

    The rabbit hole I fall into with multi-effects is I find is I'm much more likely to pile on a ton of different effects I wouldn't be using for a final sound if I just had a few pedals into an amp. As I'm cycling through a simple patch I say "I'll had some compression, sure, some chorus- just a smidge, etc..." vs. using a setup with a few pedals either off or on and into the amp.

    I am in the minority here., growing up I always used guitar effects processors like the boss GT and ME and electro harmonix stuff... due to budget constraints it just made more sense to go that direction than buying all the individual pedals looped through a decent amp. thing is though now that I could afford some gear Im still drawn to the presence of physical amps (valve or solid state) especially those placed on top of a cabinet or stack., digital amp modeling is fine especially as its selling point is portability and convenience and all but there's just something about seeing a Marshall stack with you whatever style or gig you be in 😁

    @abrahama2643 6 днів тому

    As someone who's just delving into guitar building, I learned that you really only need to buy 3 expensive parts, (I know people will disagree with me). 1) A neck. Only because for $100 you can buy a neck 10 times better than anything you can build in your backyard. In fact, you really only play the neck. Your right hand is only playing the strings. Just like when you play a piano, you are really only playing the keys; when you play guitar you are just playing the neck. Buy a good neck. 2) Tuning keys. Cheap tuning keys are terrible. They will continuously go out of tune, and plastic parts wear fast. 3) Pick Ups. Not even so much expensive, but think about what tone you want. I always think of cheap guitars as ugly actors. There's a place for everybody. If you write and record a song, that cheap old knock-off might have the sound you are looking for. Bottom line: Its all about playability. You need to become one with the guitar, and you can only do that if it fits like a pair of shoes you've been wearing for a few months. If your buying a guitar, get the most comfortable one you can afford.

    • @JayceAllanGuitar

      @@JayceAllanGuitar Very good. I've been running an XR18 into the same inputs. Not sure about the QC-12T and how it suppresses feedback per channel, but I use the RTA on the XR18 and ring out my mic. Granted, I'm only a solo act with backing tracks. Much to dial in on the LN1263. Documentation is sparse for sure.

    Grumpy ol' man here....when I have to play Mustang Sally or Wagon Wheel for a drunk , lonely crowd in a bar filthier than the Gangis my choice is 1) my 89$ Grote strat 2) my 125$ IYV Les Pawwwl thang. 3) my 90$ refurb Donner DST-152 super strat thang. No sane person should take any of my advice. I do this fer a livin' If you actually play music you love for people you like, go buy something so expensive I could never pronounce it or spell it.

    I've run many of the tower Bose systems.The tower mids/tweeters have a unique 180 degree dispersion pattern. So its floor location is as crucial as mic location. I would have placed the tower further towards the audience and angeled so the performers could use the tower as a monitor. As such I've never had a feedback issue.

    The EQs and preamps suck on all these towers

    Listen to me, I've been doing the band all my life. Now I'm doing solo. I REPEAT, DO NOT BUY THESE TOWER SYSTEMS, they all suck, including the Bose. A mixer with good preamps are a must. All those Yamaha and Mackie boards are crap too. Buy a Digital Berhinger the 18x I think it is for around 350. Use a router with it. Get someone to help you configure it. 2 /12 INCH ZLX I think it is EV Speakers for around 350 a speaker. The Behringer has all the effects, eq, and more. YOU may hate it for a couple of gigs but you will love it. If you play outdoors 1 SUB is all you need. Yorkville has some 10" subs that are killer and very economical and light. If you don't want the behringer look for a Allen and Heath mixer used of course which have effects built in to the board and great pre amps for your mic which is so important. ALSO I RUN EVERYTHING STEREO Don't listen to the people who say it doesn't matter, it DOES MATTER AND SOUNDS SO BIG. Get THE STAGE TRAXX APP TO RUN YOUR MUSIC Lifetime fee 24$ Stage Traxx has EQ for each song, pitch, speed lyrics, and will organize your songs like nothing else. The EQ alone is unbelievable and stays set for each song after you set it. This system will cover almost anything for what you are doing. You'll be pushing it with a band outdoors or any decent size room with a band won't do.

      The app breaks often with every other update it seems, weirdly enough I got it to work on an old android phone I had lying around. The app was still buggy but it works well when it does, not too many presets up there and the search function could have been better. I hope they fix it soon because this product has a lot of potential when it works, I'm actually gigging with it soon.
