Gravel bike ride to a 1200 foot hill called Sugar Camp Hill in Brule Wisconsin area. It is overlooking Lake Superior but to get there I started in Poplar Wisconsin rode miles of gravel roads and the Tri County corridor made from an old rail road track.

I am not very good at anything 5050. I've always just stuck to feeble grinds but I am surprised by how quickly I was able to pick this trick up. I will slowly add speed as I get more comfortable but for me its all about having fun, getting exercise, and riding to ride another day.
2020 Commencal Absolut Odyssey BMX Gyro Modifications
Переглядів 6 тис.3 роки тому
I have been using the Odyssey BMX Gyro on my Commencal Absolut for about 6 months. It has held up, works well, and I feel confident in sharing the modifications I made so that anyone else with an Absolute Frame who wants a BMX Gyro can install one. The main problem I ran into was the Gyro tabs on the Absolute frame were drilled too low for normal Odyssey Gyro cables to reach. Most people I've s...
Spring Gravel Bike VLOG - First 50 mile ride this year
Переглядів 2493 роки тому
Multi-surface ride on the NS RAG gravel bike with my friend Brian. First ride beyond 15 miles this year so... went for 50! It was tough, 2000 feet of elevation, some gravel, some road, some rock, some mountain bike trail. We live in a beautiful area where the topography changes dramatically every 5-10 miles. Every ride feels like an adventure where you went somewhere almost completely different.

Tonight I learned 3 new tricks in one session!! 1)Opposite Smith Grind 2)Manual-Opposite Feeble Grind-180 3)Manual-Opposite Feeble Grind-Manual I love learning new tricks, getting a good workout and still being able to keep an eye on the kids in the evening. This is why I keep riding BMX bikes into my 40s. Quick edit, not much thought, just excited to learn new things. Enjoy! Keep riding!
Fat Bike & Air Boat Middle of Lake Superior

After a deep arctic freeze there was a rare 1-2 feet of ice covering Lake Superior. Perfect time to get out the Salsa Beargrease Fat Bike for endless smooth ice as far as I could see. Also perfect time to meet up and Tango with 1,000 Island Air Boat.

In this video I unbox my new 2021 Marzocchi Bomber DJ fork, Compare it to Manitou Circus Expert. Install it. Attempt to install Gyro on the Commencal Absolut. I considered leaving the failed attempt to install a gyro out of this video but I hope that anyone who is thinking about buying a Gyro that this video can help with the process. Manitou Circus Expert DJ Fork - 4 Month Review // Commencal Absolut
Переглядів 16 тис.3 роки тому
One of the reasons I never bought a Manitou Circus fork was because I didn't know if I could do foot-jams with the reverse arch. It turns out you can! The balance point is different and feels closer to a BMX bike. In this video I do a little riding and give my thoughts on Manitou Circus Expert. Here is a break down of the Forks I have looked at over the years and their specs Manitou Circus Expe...

best frame pump? my how to buy absolut 2014& 2021 ?
I dont know .. about the "good customer service" ..i see this way different here .. the fork is build for that ..manitou circus are used on CUBE bikes and a lot other brands over here .. and not the cheap ones.. Means that this fork should NOT bend after this time ..and even when u was not the Buyer in the first place..from an European perspective it doesnt matter cause its stil guarantie on this thing .. means Manitou make a not realy nice service hear ..cause u own a product with guarantie on..and the still give a fck and give u not e replacement or repair .. they force u to buy a new one .. 40% discount or not .. they already had my money and the product didnt holt there promise .. i would give a fck.. take the original bill and would force them to reaplce the godamn product that failed after 4months .. i dont know why u so happyy about it .. but i guess the customer services are not great over there .. from an EU perspective ..this comapny scammed u.. or the previous buer in this case. But thanks for makin the Video ..i was lookin for a bike with this fork ..now i will totalyy forget about this idea xD
Man was going fast
The man from Nantucket 🤣
As for footjams, your gritty shoe is going to JAM right against tha stanchions and begin to wear the coating.
Looks familiar... probably kayaked past it many times if it were just on the side there... been good 20 years since been down the Brule...
thought the gray clay was just the hardpan around here..
the foot clearance is why I upsized on the absolut. I was right on the border of sizes but didnt want my feet to hit. Was happy with it, and was surprised there was more foot room than expected. I still havent even tried a barspin on it. honestly wish the brake cable were just an inch or so longer.
Been there.great park
Are you riding a large
Yes - 2020 Absolut Size Large
Nice trail. Loose leaves look like they could be sketchy though.
Hola tengo un comencal igual al tú yo donde puedo comprar esas bielas y como las instalo
been there really cool area
Nice! How tall are you? I fall between L and Xl always have trouble figuring out sizing
Nice!
XD aluminium is much stronger but heavier then aluminium you literally have no clue what you're talking about. Magnesium does have a few advantages for forks and certain other applications. But don't act like magnesium is stronger then aluminium. It's lighter and less dense. Steel titanium aluminium then magnesium. And for strength to weight that order as well. Due to newer alloys like reynolds 953 and similar or post weld heat treatment processes. Magnesium at the same weight is thicker. Which can have some advantages. And you can go larger diameter with less weight penalty which also has advantages. Manitou are 35mm I believe. Fox and now marz are 36.
Big stoke factor, I'm heading up to lutsen from SE Wisconsin after Christmas, incredible views !!!
This park is bad not because of the slide ability on coping or the park in general it's just the ammount of stupid fucking kids and I understand some are little but I was seshing the double set and mid jump a baby made me have to bail because the parents were in denial that the kid would get hurt
Wow thats a great review
Did you find the Majesty Park too cramped? I'm also 6'3
NS Majesty Park felt amazing actually. Tight geometry for barspins but literally everything else including dirt jumps felt really good. Make sure to get tapered fork head tube though. I was unable to upgrade forks on mine.
Hi, John! May I know what saddle do you used in this video (or the latest saddle you use right now for the same bike)? What brand and what size? Thank you in advance!
Interesting. So many years of jamming with a conventional arch. Then a few years ago, I got a fork with a reversed arch. It took some getting used to, but now my jams are more controlled and can be even quicker. Can you jam with a reverse arch? Hell yeah, even better than with a classic arch.
heya i have a question regarding the fork. Im noticing a lot of "wobbling" when i press my absolut down in speedy pumptrack corners. It feels horrible. So i noticed the manitous fork system allowes one end of the fork move with the axle freely. My question is are you supposed to tighten the 2 screws wich hold the 6edge end of the axle, so it doesnt move anymore? Or is it supposed to move ? I can press together the fork with my bare hands... Sry for my english
Definitely tighten both the axel AND the 2 bolts! Hope that helps
Hei john i have manitou circus air 26 dj non tappered ..but i have a problem with my lock out ABS .no effect when i turn the knob ..What should i do ??
I would call customer support. They have a great team!
Awesome! You should look into the Odyssey "London Mod" for the lower cable. It lets you run two cables, and maybe there are some options to run that to the rear caliper. Another nifty part you may find useful is the "Porkchop Brake Cable Splitter".
I bought a long PBJ last year to get back into dirt jumping, but looking to get something shorter & more nimble. What's your thoughts on steel vs aluminum? I've only had steel, an NS Suburban & the PBJ. Loved my NS, but can't find one to go with the Pike on my PBJ. I mostly ride my local jump park that is mostly buffed out dirt. I'm not hitting the pro lines anymore at my age.
Aluminum is a little lighter. More harsh feeling for street and skatepark. I recently went back to Chromoly with The Rise Partymaster. I would say NS decade would fit the aluminum shorter more nimble category you are looking for. The PBJ and Commencal Absolut have low bottom brackets so they are a little less nimble but feel amazing on jumps. Just go with medium instead of long if you want shorter on those frames.
This is awesome. I love the fact how you incorporated Charlie Parr as the music to your video. I love that you are a couple that ride bikes together.
Would love to see a drop bar specific bunny hop how-to. Keep up the nice content!
Ha! Started with a BMX bike :)
Great info! Hey, I'm modifying a khe bikes affix type gyro. What I want to ask, do these kbarps hold well? Im thinking of using the cableend inside the feame and using a knarp to attach the cable to the brake lever. Wonder if it will be sketch or usable. Thanks
What's your average speed on this ride?
Cool video! Like the song near the beginning. Love that your boys enjoy the forest and were nice to the snake. Reminds me of my boys.
Charlie Parr and gravel riding. What an excellent combination! Good video y’all.
Thank you for adding some incidental footage to the Poop video 😂😂
You two rock, you had the right spirit and weathered through the ride. If you are riding in 2022, see you on the trail
I loved mine! Only wish I could do a year review but some thief rides it now, as our bike room was burgled. Nice review thanks.
Have you thought of putting a Sus fork on it with some nice 29/27.5+ wheels? Think that would make it a nice shedder?
It definitely would be a shredder!
Thanks a lot for this review. I just got my first dj (used) and need to replace the frame. Don't see myself doing foot jams in the near future but of course I'd love too.. Can't splurge money on the fork so I feel like the Expert is a good in between. Do you think me weighing around 210 lbs (95kg) makes this fork a no go? Also, I'm thinking about getting the 120-130mm since I'm planning on doing dirt jumps and maybe even som trail.
You should be fine with the expert. Definitely not a trail bike though. I would stick with 100mm
@@johnseip Thanks for replying! I was definitely not thinking any rough trails. More like flow trails with potential brakebumps or the occasional rock 🤔 I have a YT Jeffsy for trail/enduro riding. I like the idea of footjams sinned they like you say are low consequence. But I've never done them. Is it a bad idea learning foot jams on this fork? My dj frame is a OctaneOne Zircus that is specified to work with forks between 80-140mm.
OLP is the only good legit park we have for hundreds of miles around. Black mamba is good too
Nice handlebar. Just ordered one as well. What was the tape length for the new 460mm bar? Normal 200mm?
I can’t remember what length I put on there.
Those tires sound like a turbocharger spooling up.
About how much air would you recommend for this fork on a dj bike?
I ran max amount but mainly used at skatepark and pump track.
I got one on my ns decade frame, 130 mm version tho, love it.
Hey got a question. What is the distance from the centerlines of the axle to the top of the crown? Not sure whether Manitou's spec of 508 mm ride height for the 130 mm fork is with compression or fully extended. Thanks.
@@AB-80X if u got a manitou circus Expert 130 mm it would fit perfectly i run circus Expert on mine on 130 mm works awesome.
@@AB-80X and do you mean the reach or?
@@AB-80X u can’t go wrong with both ns decade or octane one void/ zircus Frame. It fits 130 mm no problem
@@fran.6496 I’m sure it wil. However my application is a bit different, so I could really use the actual crown height. Thanks
Just picked up the same marzocchi dj fork and love it , keep making great videos
Nice video. Thanks
Hi there! Did the original front wheel hub fit the Bomber DJ without any issues? Just wondering because I have the same Manitou and just bought a Bomber DJ. Thanks!
Yes! Perfect fit
Thanks, John!!
Trying to skate here
Go back their tomorrow I’ll be there
that pillar in the middle of the bowl looks kinda dangerous
like somebody would slam into it
Try to put the max spacers into the fork and then run 100 psi fully open should be pretty good
A buck tackled me once. Terrifying experience. No more wooded trails in the middle of nowhere for me unless I got an AK-47 strapped on my shoulders.
Great video! I'm bringing my gravel bike up to Duluth in a couple weeks, where would you recommend looking for fun scenic routes?
Haha mate you are shredding
