Just to tell you, reds have a 1.5x multiplier on their attack, and can also be sprouted unlike purples. Also, the Doomsday Apparatus exists, requiring 100 Purple Pikmin, so you really NEED to save those purples for later, so having reds as a attack unit instead is not a bad choice. I wouldn't say that they are the worst.

purples are much more rare than reds, and 100 of them are required to get the doomsday apparatus. Having a decent type always able to be sprouted is pretty valuable.

That's the most adorable Pikmin entry I have heard of to this point.

None of the Pikmin types are bad. The problems arise with the level design and the focus of the developers. For example, blue Pikmin in Pikmin 1 were extremely good. Reason being most of the levels had a lot more water that couldn't be interacted with properly without them. Reds in Pikmin 2 weren't that great, not because of the existence of purples but because the fire hazard was heavily nerfed in Pikmin 2. Yellows were very much needed in 1 as well because they were the only kind that had the ability to carry bomb rocks. In 2 they worked around them losing that ability by adding electricity. The solution is making levels with more focus on actually taking advantage of the Pikmin types.

The dandori challenges in pikmin 4 helped me see the strengths in each pikmin. The white sage challenges. Yellow for digging. Ice for freezing water. Blue for attacking creatures in the water. Red for attacking. White for poison and carrying cuz they are fast. I forget how fast whites are until these challenges reminded me. Rock for throwing and glass walls. Winged for flying over yet have to remember how slow they are.

The fact that they give you reccomended types in each area kinda discourages you from actually thinking about what you use. Sure you can be more efficient if you use yellows and rocks in serene shores, but then you're essentially going against what the game is telling you to do. It's especially weird in the final area because they give you 3 types that deal half of the expected damage, and 2 of them specialise in carrying things faster, feels like miyamoto is actively trying to sabostage the player.

Hey pikmin canonically mentions the fact plimar supports Transgender people. This automatically means it's the best pikmin game... obviously...

When people are talking about the usefulness of Pikmin they usually mean in general, not just in one specific moment in a game. Even if we say that in one specific moment the Pikmin 2 Reds are more useless than Whites in Pikmin 3, you are forced to use Reds for longer. They are like the filler Pikmin until you can fully flesh out your squad with Purples and Yellows, and even then you will still probably have Reds on your team simply because of the convenience when fire does show up. Whites don’t even show up in the main game, and there aren’t even any poison hazards in Pikmin 3 whatsoever. Even in the areas they do show up in, they are the worst Pikmin type in all of their respective challenge mode stages.

Arzest has a better game under their belt now too, Sonic Superstars. It's a shame nothing of theirs is outstanding but most of their games aren't nearly as bad as they get made out to be, they're just not the usual high quality stuff we expect

I'm mostly used spicy spray as a speed boost and since Rock Pikmin is relatively easy to get the onion compare the lead to White they have a slightly faster than normal speed and that also increases with spicy spray

just reset when you lose a purple, do the three-trip emergence cave, and the two-trip subterranean complex. now you have enough purples. also, the "reset when you lose purple" isn't nearly as scary as It seems, as you'll soon have enough purples to instakill basically everything.

When I was younger, I had this game. And I did not even know Pikmin existed and well. I just got bored because I did not know what to do like the start of the game so basically I had a Pikmin clone game before I even knew what Pikmin was.

I love how although Olimar is essentially an Amazon delivery driver, he makes enough bank to buy both those items without much worry, really reminds you how well off he is financially compared to if he really let his passion for biology take the lead. Man now I feel bad for biologists if this is true in real life also.
