If you haven't got a compressor your fucked
If you are working next to CAT, wouldn't the shock cause possible damage to the CAT matrix. Just a thought.
Thanks for reminding to downvote 👎
About to change exhaust on my 1986 SAAB. This trick will come in handy! Thanks for saving me nerves!!!
I grinder full stop not rocket science
I use a "nut-splitter"
Nice, When I didn't have an air chisel, I would use a drill to put 1 or 2 holes in the nut then use my hammer and chisel.
Thats great, the last one I did had a flange on mounting so I could not get access with chisel?
Deeeeees nutz
I wish I had air, but I don't so use a bosch multitool with a carbide tip to cut the slot, then an old chisel, as soon as the integrity of the nut is broken, they wind off.
That's great 'n all but don't you need a compressor, and an air chisel!?
Too add, i found the best way to remove a stud is to smash a bolt extractor socket on the bottom of the stud. The non threaded part. Then just zip it out with an impact. Stud and nut come out easy. I used this method to get old rusty studs out. Stud extractor wouldnt fit where I needed it. too. With this method the threads on the stud are untouched
If you have the clearance, you could use a nut splitter. Just tighten the nut and force the chisel in.
That works when you have room to swing a hammer and a sharp chisel. An electric grinder with a cutoff wheel would also get it off in less than 30 seconds tho.
?????? hOW IS THIS to help me when I'm on my back in my driveway and I dont own a compressor???? If you have a lift and a air chisel, you already know how to do this!!!!!! This is a fuc$ing usless video
dEEZ NUTS ARE ROTTEN, A SWOLLEN MESS....
Like A Boss 👍 I keep a needler with my air hammer & bits drawer for gems just like this
impressive :)
I would use Dremel to cut open the nut, same result without air chisel.
Most people dont have that power tool, and i cant help but think wd40 and an old smaller socket hammered on would get that nut off much easier,
A plus plus. Thank you. Subbed.
Simpler method.. Scrap it !!
I’m going to show you a way to get these nuts off with no more than one tool, take a five pound sledge hammer and hit it once to get it softened up and once more to finish the job. Oh, almost forgot, He said THESE NUTS. LMAO
Haven't seen this done for quite some time. Thanks for the reminder. We used to do this with just a hammer and chisel on stubborn nuts back in the day on my dad's log truck. I'm going to use this method to remove the rusty u bolt nuts from my old boat trailer tomorrow. Looking forward to putting my air chisel to good use.
Omg after all the years of struggling with blow torches brute force and lots of swear words ,I was thinking of angle grinding these bolts off but limited space ,so tried your technique and yes I confirm it worked perfectl and took 2 mins with a dewalt hammer drill and grinded sharp chisel bit so happy and thank you got 2 more left to get off 👍
Is there one for a 1996 Chevy S10 pickup
Genious. Milwaukee has cordless palm nailer, Milwaukee 2458-20, that would split that nut too. Works on medium/small nuts. There is video on youtube showing it. Cool trick. Thanks.
Volvo has gone so far that stealing the whole car is easier than the wheel alone. 😅
Nice one buddy
Wow, wow, WOW!!!! I had no idea. Thank you for this video. I'm about to do some exhaust work on my 300K-mile Tundra and it's scary-rusty under there and I was wondering how in the hell I was going to get those bolts off if they're really bad. Simply amazing technique. Who knew those threads would still look so good under a mile of rust like that???
Great tip, thanks
Does bro think everyone owns an air hammer?
I'd cut out the flange and weld in a new flange then coat it with header paint... There is hardly anything left of that flange your tutorial is on. That's asking for leaks later.
Just used a hand chisel and this same method to get an O2 sensor out of an old Honda after trying all kinds of other stuff.
Nice
Great tutorial. Thanks!
just use an angle grinder and cut it off, dude. your time costs much more than this two bolts.
0:41
3 minutes = 30 seconds and thats not including the time it took to inspect the nut and fetch your tools
Just need heat! You are so dumb..
Good demostration but not every DIY'er has those tools/ facilities.
I laughed every time you said nut, like I was back in 6th grade for some reason???
So what's the secret? There are "nut splitters" that also do the job.
Are you kidding me? Top secret trick? This "trick" is common practice since at least 50 years 😂
excellent video
Wow.
How do you protect the ECU and other car electronics when welding on the car? Thank you
Like the poster who has a big lathe in the shed, you're flexing with a tool the vast majority of us will never own. But the technique works well with a sharp cold chisel and hammer.
Buy a nut splitter tool off in seconds.... butcher mechanic,s
Thanks for sharing man, this is genius. I've never seen someone do this method.
