Must try weekend market in Manila 🇵🇭 Street food bazaar
Salcedo weekend market in Manila is a MUST VISIT for visitors and residents alike. I was very impressed with the street food and local produce. I will be back, as someone once famously said.

Typhoon causes havoc in Manila, Philippines
Переглядів 57День тому
Typhoon Carina came to Manila on 23rd July 2024. I think it was upgraded to a super typhoon by the 25th. The chaos was clear but filipinos group together in times like this and a great community spirit prevails. The rains were torrential and the floods in some parts of Manila proved fatal to some unfortunate people. But, as an English guy I was interested to see the spirit of filipinos during t...
🇵🇭Philippines Independence Day party atmosphere begins celebrations, history and chillis!

Philippines 126th Independence Day celebrations surround Luneta park in Manila otherwise known as Rizal Park. He is a national hero of the Philippines and rightly so. Nowhere have I been that recognises a national hero like they do for Jose Rizal. The park is named in his honour, there are so many places names after him, even provinces are named after him. I hope Filipinos everywhere enjoy thei...

Yummy rice cake 👍😋
2:05 - Ginataang Bilo-bilo is one of my favorites. It's a very popular Filipino snack. It has saba bananas, sweet potatoes, langka, glutinous rice balls (bilo-bilo), etc. in a thick coconut milk soup. It's usually served hot. 😋
We call the local ice cream "Sorbetes". It was actually #5 in Taste Atlas' World’s Best Frozen Desserts in 2023. :)
What a lovely place to experience for visitors to Manila. You never see this on any' top places to visit in Manila' blogs or websites - I'm not quite sure how it's been overlooked.
The googel ratings are hilarious. 😆
Masarap! Conversation is great!👍
Thank you
That Bibingka looks good, though I prefer the other kind - Bibingkang Malagkit or Bibingka sa Latik - which is sticky rice with caramelized coconut milk on top. :)
I’m heading to Salcedo again this morning so I’m going to look for this and try it 😊
❤❤❤manila area flooded ❤❤❤

I was driving near Taguig Bert 👍

That giant stick for P60 only? That's so affordable. Is that shop just outside BGC? Btw, Filipino barbecue marinade has Filipino Banana Ketchup and Spite or 7-up. :)
I never knew what was in the marinade but it was certainly very tasty. It's not far from BGC - only 6km from Market Market in Signal village (I think that's the name)
So yummy and also you sir ❤️😋
Keep it coming Jeff! killing it🔥
Thank you Evan- I’m always encouraged by your support. Thank you my friend
❤❤❤wow
We were also partly affected by this typhoon/monsoon. So sad. They say the floodings was caused by the Manila Bay reclamation projects. Whatever caused it, the government should really do something drastic to prevent this from happening again. :(
I don’t know why or what caused it. But I was impressed by the Filipinos community spirit and ‘just-get-on-with-it’ attitude. I hope you weren’t affected too badly
@@geordiejeff Thank you. It wasn't really that bad, thank GOD. I'm amazed too at some people I saw in the news who were even smiling while wading through the flood.

Jeff... How are you there?
Good morning, Things are fine thanks Rich, the storm is passing and the worse has gone (I think). Stay safe my friend
Great community spirit in times of hardship - Filipinos stick together - don't let the weather spoil your day.
Haven't tried that yet, but it falls under what we call "Kakanin" of which there are many kinds. Kakanins are the traditional snacks from the olden times. My personal favorite Kakanin is "Bibingkang Malagkit". :) And congrats for 1K+ subs!
Thank you for the congrats 🙏 I had bibingka once before but I don’t think it was the best. I’ll have to try again from a better vendor
@@geordiejeff You're welcome :) There are 2 kinds of Bibingka. One is like steamed bread. It's simply called Bibingka. The one I'm referring to - Bibingkang Malagkit - is another kind which is glutinous rice topped with caramelized coconut milk. I usually order from Aling Kika's. They deliver. :)
I miss tupig. Enjoy your snack😊
Thank you 😋

That's sticky rice 😊

Wow, didn't know you have musical talents. Nice. :) And "Anak" is such a heart-rending song. Mr. Freddie Aguilar's repertoire is quite extensive. The ones I really like are "Magdalena" and "Kamusta Ka". Have a listen to them if you haven't yet. I think they're 2 of his best songs. :)
Ako si rockstar lol. I’ll have catch up with his other material soon.
Thank you so much ❤❤

That does not worth 20 pesos come on. Maybe 3 of those yeah, but 1? Really?
bro got foreigner taxed
One was not enough so I had another. 10 peso each. I don’t think I received the ‘foreigner tax’ - but she did ok by me anyway. Everybody’s happy 😊
@@geordiejeff That sounds about right. 10 Php is a good price. Good on ya! And good for her having honest prices.
I looked up Leeds and found out it's in West Yorkshire. Wow, that's probably my one dream destination in England because West Yorkshire is where Haworth and the Moors are located. Haworth is the hometown of the Bronte sisters, and I'm a huge fan of 'Jane Eyre' by Charlotte Bronte. Have read it countless times and is my all-time favorite novel! 🧡📙
And yes, train system in UK is exemplary. :)
I almost missed this one, Leeds is where my sister lives and the countryside around there is beautiful in places. I've not been to Haworth but it's definitely on my list of places to visit. A quick Google search and I now know it's only a 30 minutes car journey from her house.
@@geordiejeff Wow, how blessed to be living near "Bronte Country" as they call it. Hope you can vlog it in the future. Aside from the Bronte Parsonage Museum, the surrounding Moors is also a "pilgrimage site" of sorts for Bronte enthusiasts especially for those who love Emily Bronte's "Wuthering Heights" as the novel heavily uses it as backdrop for the story. (I actually read WH ahead of JE, but while WH's story is quite fascinating, I just found it too disturbingly dark.) And about Leeds, I just remembered that Charlotte Bronte actually mentioned it in her letter to her friend Ellen Nussey when she talked about the need to buy her wedding dress there I think. :)
Have a safe trip in the Philippines 🥰
Thank you ❤
I usually dip it to mixture of tomato/banana ketchup and mayonnaise, try it sometimes

Masarap Ito , this has to be my favourite street food. Spicy but not too much, just enough to give a little kick
Haven't tried it yet but would like to. Honestly I'm not a big fan of spicy so it's good that it's not too spicy. I hate the burning sensation in my mouth while eating.
