Anti discrimination laws on the basis of disability . Equal rights protections. That happens in 90. With the passage of the ADA. Example. I am a mostly retired singer / actress. In 1984. I auditioned & got into The High School of the Performing Arts. In Manhattan. I could not go. They were not required to provide accessible transport, To / from Manhattan. Strictly speaking. I had access to a public high school in Brooklyn. That was before the passage of the ADA. Had this occurred after its passage. I was accepted. They would have been required to get me there.

I don't think you paid attention to what you were watching. A lot of those questions were answered. Not only that. To say it was too observational. Misses the central purpose. As long as there is life. There will be disability. Most people in their lifetimes. Will use some form of assistive device / experience some form of disability. It's a part of the natural order. As for pity? It's dehumanizing. To pity me. Is to place yourself above me. It is a declaration of supremacy. As long as access is continually viewed as a magnanimous gesture. A favor. Not a Civil right, or a law to be upheld / followed. I cannot access my rights as a US citizen. The bedrock truth / experience of any minority. I neither need, nor want compassion. I will reiterate. I need the law followed, & my rights upheld. No more. No less.

(parasite spoilers) I feel like they were trying to say it's a privilege to be nice when your needs are met and you're not in competition with other people, you don't have to fight or act defensively in order to stay alive. An example in the movie is when their house was flooding, on the way their neighbor was asking for help to get their belongings out, they ignored him because they had to go save their own belongings. At the end of the film, the rich family had to get their son to the emergency room, they totally ignored their staff dying as well. In a life or death scenario you have to worry about your own, therefore being selfish and cruel. The rich family does not often experience these situations where you have to be the bad guy because they are never in equal competition to others.
