5 Minute Super Star Salad! - Dominique Ludwig Nutrition
Lettuce, cucumber and tomato are more of a garnish for me than a salad. Yes they contain some nutrients that are beneficial for our health, but they also hold a lot of water.
Using hard vegetables increases the nutrient density. They are also richer in compounds that are good for our health, such as a flavonoids, carotenoids and polyphenols.
It’s simple, the more colourful your vegetables, the better they are for you and your gut.
I have used beetroot and carrot, but you could equally use red pepper, apple, and broccoli or cauliflower, carrots,red cabbage and radishes.
Hard vegetables are denser and have a bigger punch when it comes to nutrition, so you get a bigger bang for your buck!
So here it is. A 5-minute salad, that lasts up to 3 days in the fridge that you make it in the food processor, with the dressing. It couldn’t be easier.
Ingredients, serves 4-6
400g carrots, chopped into chunks (I don’t bother peeling if they’re organic)
400 g beetroot, chopped into chunks. (I do peel this because the skin is tougher)
2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar (if possible with mother).
1 heaped teaspoon Dijon mustard
Salt and pepper
1. Add all the ingredients to a food processor. I have used a Thermomix to find out more contact @martas_thermomix_kitchen
Or, you can use a large bowl S-blade food processor or one with a grater. Check how powerful your motor is, as this will dictate how small you should chop the vegetables.
2.Add all the dressing ingredients.
3. Pulse for around five seconds, or grate with the dressing ingredients at the bottom of the bowl already.
And there you have it, a salad in less than five minutes.
This will last for up to 3 days in your fridge. I like to serve mine with tangy, goats cheese, or feta, but it works with just about everything. It’s a great way of helping us to eat more vegetables.
This isn’t a sales pitch as I am absolutely not on commission, but I do know that Thermomix has a really special offer on at the moment with 0% finance, I don’t know the details, but if you’re hankering after one of these machines, this offer doesn’t come round very often.

How I Use My Air Fryer - Dominique Ludwig Nutrition

I think an air fryer is a convenient addition to my kitchen appliances. I use it like a mini convection oven, to save time and energy because it’s only heating a small drawer rather than a large oven. The nonstick lining and air fryers is made from different materials. My air fryer is from @cosori.uk and is one of the simpler models available. I know that when I have too many buttons to press a...

    Polyphenols are extremely toxic. Nutritionists have gotten everything extremely wrong. I have a history of autoimmune disease and the only thing that helped is eliminating the so called "benefial" things recommended by most nutritionists like fiber, polyphenols etc. If you want to heal your gut eat meat and eliminate high fiber foods. I like potatoes, very ripe fruits as far as plants and meat, dairy and eggs.

      Whats so funny if that you are even saying this in your bio. Polyphenols are the plants defense mechanisms. Why would their defense mechanisms be good for us. They dont want us to eat that. Thats what gives them that taste. Bitter is the worst taste from all the tastes and our body shows us that its not healthy for us but somehow because scientists say it its healthy. Taste is literally an indicator for if something is good or not.

    No it's not a "very British thing". I grew up drinking "squash" in Hungary. It's mory syrupy, as it is made of concentrated/reduced fruit juice mixed with syrup. Germany is the outlier here lol, as they are more health conscious. And it's not really a good idea to judge the entire world by visiting only one foreign country. If anything, THIS is a "very British thing" :D

    Untrue, there is plenty of these, but they called Sirup, is much thicker and dilute with more water. Also contains no sweeteners less preservatives, and lot of people just make their own at home. It is better to give kids water and sugarless teas, they don't need to get addicted to high sugar content pop and sqash from young age.

      @trevorhoward2254 not after you've milled it. Milling it "brings out" the nutrients per se. Soaking them allows the shell of the seed to expand the internal nutrients. Milling them basically opens the shell of the seed, allowing all of the nutrients to become absorbed. I could be mistaken, but this is how I've understood it.

      @@Heather25430 Thanks again, Heather, What you say makes sense iwith regard to what is said in the video - that only some of the nutrients are available when the seeds are eaten whole. I have done an experiment today by putting my usual daily 2 tablespoons of whole seeds to soak a glass. Then I ground the same amount and put the resulting podwer to soak in another and it has expanded to a greater volume - probably around 50% more - than the whole seeds. As you know, the expansion of chia seeds in water is very quick - around 20 to 30 minutes. I'm going to grind then soak my seeds because I wouldn't want such a big, gelatinous lump to expand while inside of me,

    If you are constipated. First, drink 1-2 glasses of hot water(Pregnant women can simply drink cold water). And wrap your fingers around the anal area between the buttocks and, standing on your feet, press several times, as if you were pressing a button on a remote control, but press as hard as you can, then wait 10-15 minutes. . When you feel gurgling in your stomach, it means that everything is in order, it means that water has entered the outlet. Then drink 1 glass again and this time go to the toilet. Again, while standing, repeat the same thing, placing your fingers on the anal area. When you have a strong desire, you immediately sit on the toilet.

    Feel like I need to jump on here! There is a very small window of time in winter, where our shadow would be shorter than us and the Sun rays are further away (hence why it is colder). This means that it becomes virtually impossible for us to manufacture vitamin D during the winter months. Switch to summer. And you will see that your shadow is shorter than you from around 11 am to 2:00 pm. This gives us firstly a larger window to receive our sunshine and secondly we are usually wearing less and exposing more skin as the Sun is nearer to the Earth and hence warmer. Perhaps I could’ve worded it more eloquently, but I was just making a point about vitamin D and how important it is to supplement in the winter months. So why not cut the clever chat and the trolling and just take the post at face value - as a reminder to think about vitamin D in winter. So it’s not just position of sun in the sky, it’s distance from earth of the Sun.

    Do you not know how lighting works?

    • @vilukisu
      @vilukisu 4 місяці тому

      This is how lighting works. Your shadow is long when the sun is low in the sky. At winter, the sun doesn't get as high up, so longer shadows (say, at noon) correlate with less intense sunlight. Even though the sun is shining, it is at such an angle that it doesn't provide enough radiation for sufficient vitamin D production. That's the point; even when it is sunny in the winter, the sun is weaker and we need to supplement vitamin D. And how do you know the sun is weaker? Even at its highest point in a day, you are casting a long shadow.

    • @logiriley2407
      @logiriley2407 4 місяці тому

      @@vilukisu ah, I see. I thought you were saying that the height of the shadow was a result of low D vitamins. I misunderstood this video.

    Someone forgot to take their pills today

    • @vilukisu
      @vilukisu 4 місяці тому

      No. This is literally based on the science of how sunlight is weaker at lower angles that causes shadows to be longer. Weaker sunlight means less vitamin D production.

    • @vilukisu
      @vilukisu 4 місяці тому

      But the angle (and therefore the length of the shadow) does show how intense the sunlight is. When the sun is lower in the sky, the light travels more through the atmosphere and the light that reaches us is weaker and therefore we produce less vitamin D. And in the winter outside of the equator, the sun is lower, thus in winter even when the sun does shine, the light is weaker and does not promote enough vitamin D production.
