    Im really wondering how these tents fare for hot tenting at -25 and below. I really dont need or want a wall tent

    • @livefreelivewild
      @livefreelivewild 4 дні тому

      I can't answer that, I have only gone down to 0°F overnight. I think it would be ok with a good stove and plenty of wood. It heats up easier and faster because it's a smaller space to heat, and it is the same canvas as a wall tent, maybe a little thinner. Actually I did get down to -10° F but it was in my hammock hot tent, same size, different shape and it was ok with my -20° F sleeping bag. With a thinner sleeping bag you only get about 45 mins to an hour sleep before adding wood. The sleeping bag is the key to cold camping.

    • @clutch2315
      @clutch2315 4 дні тому

      @@livefreelivewild yeah the lack of time to sleep with a fire going is always an issue with small stoves. If i could find a stove where i can extend that with the damper snd slowing combustion im all ears.

      @livefreelivewild 4 дні тому

      @clutch2315 they latest stove I reviewed on my channel is pretty good. It's only $100 and works better than my $500 stove. It's just a little heavier.

    Is it sturdy or tippy as shit?

    • @livefreelivewild
      @livefreelivewild 27 днів тому

      Man, it's pretty stable. I've used regular plastic ones, and it is the same as far as stability. The upside is not hard on your back or butt. My one complaint is no footrest, so it's all arm strength. Normally you have foot placement to help with rowing but not with this one. I would have paid more for it so I am super happy with it.

      @livefreelivewild I just found one on sale for 89 was hoping it's at least like a pelican plastic

    • @livefreelivewild
      @livefreelivewild 27 днів тому

      @the_hunterjay6261 if you found the same brand for 89 dollars, grab it. I would have paid 300 and been happy with it. Obviously you don't want to hit sharp rocks or sticks going down river but slow moving water and lakes are perfect.

      @the_hunterjay6261 27 днів тому

      @livefreelivewild our little river is pretty slow flowing and about 14 to 40 ft in the main channel I believe it'll work just fine for a dock pole/ jug fishing and float trip as long as it's not tippy like you say.

      I've had no complaints about it, and actually, I've not used my $500 pomoly stove since I bought this cheap one. My pomoly stove dosen't stay lit as well as this one. Granted this one is heavier and doesn't pack small but for truck camping it's great. Let me know if I should rope the door.

      @@livefreelivewild so stove arrived and I did the initial burn in. The stove was very cold so went slow at first to stage up the temp as I didn’t want it to expand to much and blow out those cheap welds and burn the paint. It cured itself beautifully into a gunmetal grey sort of colour. Roping the door would be overkill. So far so good with this unit

    Picked up the same stove last year. Added spark arrester cap and another damper. Extra long fiber tap roll to wrap pipe from stove to above tent flashng. (Still needs metal shield to be safe). Also added 1/2 fiber rope kit glued around door to get airtight seal. Can put out stove now with dampers, gives longer burn time. Put a couple coats high temp black paint on to block rust. Bugs are micro leakes at chimney attach point and round removable cover. And that damn glass! Tried glueing with fiber tape...... Don't work. Maybe a light crimp? Overall great stove for price point, needs blanket underneath. I think with some rocks piled around maybe under with air gap it would radiate heat most of the night.

    Hmm, the active ingredient is absorbed into the dogs skin and dogs don't sweat - which is why they say to fit the collar 24 hours in advance - I can't see any benefit of putting a dog collar around the ankle of your boot and it should definitely not be allowed to touch your skin. Spray insect repellant around the ankles I think would be more effective. Those are just my thoughts. It's a cruel world.
