    Don't buy They have faulty AC compressor pipes that fail crack at welds and are fitted with bolts that are to long from the factory causing the refrigerant to leak into the atmosphere/environment and jag charge you £1556 for the pleasure of fixing their manufacturing problem, that price is with 40% goodwill... google . TSB JLRTB02109. Jag after care sucks. Oh and the AC contributes to the cooling of the traction battery! Oh and their value is dropping like a stone they have massive depreciation. As an owner its a bag of shite in a pretty dress which is controlled by a money grabbing pimp disguised as a Stealer... oops I mean Dealer.

    I also have had the H441 software update and since have had a carbon copy of this fault that you have experienced and the same fault popped up in the message center. This was after charging on an instavolt fast charger at Burton on Kendal services on the M6. This was a midway stop during my journey while traveling from Newcastle to north Wales! I traveled on the 19th of july 24 in 30 - 31 Celsius Temperatures. My AC system has also had lost all refrigerant reported to Jaguar some many weeks prior to my planned journey this refrigerant leak is due to the compressor pipes cracking and or they are fitted with bolts that are to long. These issues stem from factory fitted components of poor weld quality on the pipework which caused the cracking. Jaguar has TSBs (Technical service bulletins) about these issues that even state a change in pipe design as part of the fix.These pipes were redesigned by Jaguar engineering due to these failures. Is this design changet in itself an admission of liability by JLR? As stated the pipe crack/incorrectly sized bolts allow environmentally harmful refrigerant to escape to atmosphere rendering the cooling functionality inoperable when cabin or additional traction battery cooling is required. The AC system is supposed to kick in and cool the traction battery cooling fluid when charging or temperature regulation is needed where the traction battery coolant temps can not be maintained by the battery cooling system alone. I believe overheating will cause battery damage and force the software to retard or stop charging and trigger the warning to prevent thermal overload or possibility of fire.

    Hi , thank you for your video. I both an I Pace and checked the health of the battery the same way. My question is if you have a new car what can you see like battery health %? Because we can read that from 90kWh we can youse 95% in reality. What can we see if check a new car in % health of battery?

    What I issue I do take with the car has to do with the exclusion of a start-stop button and the sensor in the seat to compensate for that. it's kind of cool that when you step out of the car and effectively shuts off there are times when you really do you just want to keep it on for a moment like to say if you're cleaning your windshield or getting something out of the back seat or just checking on your back seat passengers. To make matters worse, every time you have to reconnect via Bluetooth to your phone and every time if you're using a USB thumb drive for music like I do and the audiowagon because there's no need of USB player in this system. Sorry time you step out and step into the car you have to touch the screen twice to do approvals and it won't continue playing the last track automatically that you were playing which can get tedious and lead to an excessive amount of fingerprints on the screen. Also there is a lag for the climate control each time you sit back in it so pulling over to quickly step out adds an extra 20 secs to reconnect, authorize and get the climate control working.

    Nobody is ever going to walk away from one of these Volvos and turn around to look back at it. And inside, you could be in any little Volvo. The big difference with the Jag as that it looks like a rocket, goes like a rocket and feels like you are driving something very sporty and very special. And you always turn for a last look at it....or I do with mine anyway. OK, some of the Jag tech is dated now, charging speed is slow but that is no problem if you are almost always home charging overnight for cheap 'leccy. BUT, it's still pretty good...interior is beautiful, the shape is still awesome, screens and tech are good enough even if not the latest & greatest, and HSE facelift spec is superb....HUD, cooled seats, heated steering wheel, matrix LED headlights, configurable digital dash, great sound system, etc, etc. I'd maybe have gone for a Porsche Taycan by spending another £15k, but would I enjoy that much more than the Jag? Probably not. Plus I can easily get my mountain bike in the back of the Jag, and load it up for trips to the dump. 3 year old I-Pace 400 HSE models with lowish miles are coming off of business leases now and selling for £25k to £26k, which is what I paid. You simply can't get anything else anywhere near as good as the Jag for that money.

    Biggest problem is the messages generated by weak 12v batteries, then the garages take the messages at face value value. This is affecting other makes. If you get odd messages, replace the 12v batteries with a decent make like Bosch.

    Congratulations on your new purchase, and seems to tick all the boxes you wanted, I've had my I-pace for around 5 months now not one issue, I went out of my way to find a low milage First Edition and eventually one came up, very similar spec to your XC40. with the warmer weather and my "relaxed" driving style (most of the time!!!) lack of HUD a show stopper for me, otherwise not bad and I quite like the design but did not try it. Purchased a 2019 HSE FE 10 months ago and very happy with it. Did not expect you to choose this after an i-Pace though. A friend of mine had an accident he thinks would have been avoided had he not been using one pedal driving. I choose not to use it because of this and also because it’s less confortable for the passengers and have the setting where the car doesn’t move if you do not press the accelerator.

    • @electricfocus1710
      @electricfocus1710 21 день тому

      Thanks for taking the time to comment. I tried lots of car and this worked for what I need right now and was by far the best value. Yes HUD is the only thing I would say it’s missing, however it’s not something I’d pay for as an extra if it was an option, more of a nice to have. I think the I-PACE will be a classic car in the future it’s a great car and loved having it. A shame they chose not to develop it further. I know what you mean with one pedal driving, with a passenger you do have to consider them and adjust accordingly but it’s just a tweak in driving style and I had it on all the time in the Jag.

    • @davidkerr4103

      If you learn how to properly use one pedal driving, it becomes much more comfortable than any auto or manual car. People make the mistake of fully lifting off as you would in any other car. This is wrong with OPD, you just set the pedal to get the exact amount of breaking or acceleration that you need, it’s so smooth and simple once you get head around it. I hate driving a car without it now. I can’t see any situation where OPD could cause an accident. Recon your friend is making excuses for their mistake…

    • @marcbungener1877
      @marcbungener1877 19 днів тому

      @@davidkerr4103 what happened is that the traffic was slowing down and the one pedal driving was by a good margin more than enough to slow down at the same pace …until suddenly it transformed into a emergency stopping and the time to switch pedal was enough to crash. He recons that if he already had his foot on the break pedal he would just avoided the accident. His BMW i3 was a totalled. He learned after the fact that he was not the only one to which this situation happened…

    The level of support for the IPACE by dealers was shocking prior to the announcement around discontinuation of the car - too much reliance on Jag Assistance for most problems. Now, I would not touch one with a barge pole given they come to an end this December. Real shame, epic car and JLR never bothered to capitalise on that fact when it was first released in 2018. The one EV car that got it right and didn't feel like a go kart when pulling away. RIP

    Looking at this in July 2024 i am surprised at the amount of planning for the journey. Having had an i pace for a couple of months and a couple of thousand miles, the infrastructure must be so much better. we have done about 6-7 journeys of over 200 miles and really don't give a thought to where to charge. We just drive on standard routes and then if the state of the battery starts getting low we search ahead for a place to pull over to take a break and plug in for a while. Generally we find that 2-3 hours driving is about enough before a comfort break for ourselves and the dog. So we look for somewhere to take a 30 minute break and invariably there is somewhere handy to plug in and top up since we are parked anyway. On any major routes there is a fast charging station every 15-30 miles so it's just not a problem any more.

    Ohme's Ts&Cs now say the data costs for units purchased after 4/Jul/2024 will be covered 'for the lifespan of the product' - but they still leave in a caveat that they MIGHT start to charge after 3 years if their costs are higher than they expect. I emailed and chatted with their support, but got two different and conflicting answers around this. It also condradicts the sales pages of their website that still say charges may apply after 3 years. It honestly feels like a bit of a scam, and has me a bit worried about signing up. But in the end, £2 a month / £24 per year is probably still not a bad cost to having a decent charger with smarter capabilities, with a continually improving slicker app. Some of the other manufacturers' apps look terrible to use.

    I have my I-pace with VIN in range of 2018 models with faulty LG battery. Year ago asked my dealer to update BMS software and got this error. It’s most definitely triggered by high delta V between modules. It happened when slow charged to full. As battery still has warranty first I got battery module replaced, but week after error returned. Diagnostics showed 3 more faulty modules. Few month after that I’ve got brand new battery. It’s amazing as I bought car quite cheap in Netherlands and I’m getting proper servicing from JLR here in Ukraine.

    I finally pick mine up from Jaguar tomorrow after 5 months waiting new battery replacement. Huge delay on getting batteries from LG. Jaguar customer service is one of the worst experiences ever. Hopefully car is back up and running when I get it back tomorrow

    What about running costs? Insurance, servicing, other maintenance. I guess new cost for car tax for next year too?

      Depends how you purchase your car. I get mine through work and pay a lease over four years including all of the above. In terms of electric cost, I do most of my charging at home on a cheap rate overnight tariff currently 7p/kWh, so about £6 for a full charge, under 3 pence per mile.
