Morning Glory Farmstead
United States
Приєднався 28 сер 2022
This Channel is about gardening, animals, and nature. I live simply on a little over 2 1/2 acres. I have numerous cat and dog rescues, as well as many chickens! I love to garden in my GreenStalk Gardens, Grow Bags, Railing Planters, and soon in my Greenhouse.
I have been feeding birds everyday for 9 years and love nature and just enjoying the little things in life! I frequently work on projects around the farmstead and so you may see some variety depending on the time of year or what needs to be done.
I have progressive lymphedema due to cancer treatment in the past and so I have limitations and I am chronically ill off and on, have pain, take antibiotics daily, but will never stop living and enjoying each day that I am given. The left side of my lower body is much larger due to this condition. I am sharing this to encourage you to live your life to the fullest using your abilities and within your own limitations.

Awwww hahaha😂❤❤
She's beautiful❤❤❤
I love watching a journey of your beautiful little chicken hin. The names that you picked out are just adorable.
My crew does NOT like the wind! Big Red has a magnificant comb!
Awww.Poor things. What do they do when it's windy? I get a ton of wind here but I have never noticed them acting like it bothers them. I will share your comment with Big Red!😊❤️
@@morninggloryfarmstead We have a hill and the house is down slope--so they tend to stay close to the house where it is less windy. But, when the wind is really bad, they go on the side of the house where the wind is blocked (by the house). I want to put up a small makeshift shelter in their favorite area so they can tuck in on windy and rainy days.
Maybe a short pet fence around green stalk for chicken protection? I wonder if you spread out the onions and garlic in same greenstalk with salad, would it repel the chickens?
I have thought of adding some type of fencing but I have several GreenStalks and I move them quite a bit. Not sure it would be very convenient but it's a great idea. In fact, the fall chicken garden has a few signs of chicken life again haha! I was just thinking today I need to block it off somehow from the chickens. Hardware cloth would be great but it's so pokey and I cant get scratches for health reasons. However it may be worth a try. I never thought of growing onions with my greens but that is definitely something to think about! Thanks for watching and the suggestions!❤️😊
What a perfect comb but I am sure she believes it’s a crown.
Yes! haha! I am sure she does!💕😊
Because IT IS! 🐔❤️🥰👑
😂❤️
Gorgeous chickies! That comb is combastic! ❤❤❤ And Belle is such belle ❤❤❤
Aww thanks! Love combastic!😀❤️
Her comb is perfect! Such a pretty girl!
Awww thank you!💕😊
Thank goodness the winds aren't crazy bad. What a relief! Comb-ometers are the best!❤ And so is Big Red. Thank you for all of your hard work!
I agree!💕😊
Big Red's comb always has the answer I need! Thanks Big Red for all your comb contributions! Love you girl! 💕 😊
What State you are in?
Thanks to the hard working chicken girls 😂
Don’t know what we would do without all their contributions around here! 😃💗
Those girls are working hard
They sure are!😊❤️
In the world of chickens, she’s definitely bringing sexy back 😂
😂😂😂
Little chicken boots could help. lol. Wash and dry at the salon too cute.
Great idea!! Haha!😊❤️
My SalmonFaverolle girl gets icicles on her little beard in the winter, so we have her go to the barber shop for that usually 😂❤🐔
Awwww! She sounds adorable! I hope they take good care of her!💕😊
@@morninggloryfarmstead yes ❤️

Yes they are!😀🎉💕
Good luck with that tall grass, Flopsie! 🐔
Well done ladies

How Old are they
Flopsie ❤🐔😍
💕😊
Little Flopsie was trying to eat bugs but she didn't stay out too long just because of all the effort it was taking to walk through the grass! Don't worry, Pops will take care of it for you! 💕 😊
Brilliant you should have a children’s program on tv it’s cute x👍
Thank you!!!💕😊
They chirp... Don't know why this caught my deaf arse off guard. Expected more clucking...? But then again, why am I surprised? Can hardly expect them to roar like a t-rex 😅
They're still babies. They start clucking when they're adults.
@octoroktwinkie9271 They are? Such cutiepatooties 🥰 Make a vid about the sounds they make and describe the sounds for us deaf folks 🥰
😂 They will definitely be clucking a little later! I supposed they are doing more peeping sounds right now but I always call it chirping. They can't usually cluck before 10 weeks old. It won't be long though!😀💕
Thanks for chirping in!😊💕
@morninggloryfarmstead can you tell most of us people have never seen a teenage cluck before? Can I request a video describing the noises they make? Especially for the deaf ones like myself who temd not to know what sounds are. I mean, the first time I heard a dog bark, I was 5 amd that haunted me for the rest of my life 😅 This vid took me by surprise and confused the cluck outa me 🤣😅
Smart litt babies. It is really adorable ❤.
😊🩵
That is so cute! It doesn't take much to fall in love with those little sweeties.
So true! 💕😊
😊😊😊❤❤❤hitting. All the milestones ❤❤❤❤❤
Yes they are!💕😊
They are so smart. Goodnight baguette, goodnight expresso, goodnight dark roast, goodnight John Boy.

They're walking up the runway they're looking particularly lovely the pageant is about to end who will be teeny queen Miss America 👑🐔❤️
😂❤️
Good job, little ones! They're growing up so fast! They learn by example. They are the cutest! Love them! 😍❤❤❤🐥🐤🐣❤❤❤🥺
🥰
The girls put themselves to bed tonight and I am so proud! I never showed them to use the ladder. They just figured it out on their own. Love you Dark Roast, Espresso, and Baguette! 💕 😊
@morninggloryfarmstead If you ever get (another) rooster can you call him Le Croissant? 😅🤣😆
Never heard of snake away. Could you attach hardware cloth on their enclosure to keep critters out. Glad to heard all is ok.
I have tons of hard ware cloth and I probably could but I know the snake away will work for now. I put quite a bit out and it works really well. As long as you dont trap the snake in the area you don't want him in haha! It lasts a good while until it rains really hard. Then the smell is not quite as potent. But if I need to I will certain add hardware cloth!!💕😊
OMG you crack me up!!! You’re the queen of PUNS! Bahahahahahahaa!!!!❤❤❤
Why thank you!💕😀
Very cute!!!❤🎉
Thank you! 🤗💕
I would have lost it! The hose is our friend! I was out in the back yard thankfully right next to the hose and a ribbon snake appeared….stood up and looked at me…..turned on the water and wet him down good! I was taught throughout my life to be terrified of ANY snake by my mom…..I thought I was going to have another heart attack! Tim told me it was a good snake…..my reaction was NO SNAKE IS A GOOD SNAKE!!! Good goin’ chikkin Mama!!!❤❤❤
Oh my! Definitely don't need you having a heart attack! I bet the ribbon snake was just as surprised as you were! Glad you were ok and had the water hose!💕😊
That's alright Mama we were about to handle it ourselves but we're glad that you intervene cuz things could have got teeny and messy because I was about to pop him right on his little snake nose that's alright Mama I can take care of myself🥊🐔🥊🐔🥊🥰🐔🥰❤❤❤
So grateful your beautiful fluffies are ok. What breed are the white and black laced chicks?
Thank you! Me too!💕😊 They were so terrified! Those are sebrights!❤️
Good luck with your bug finding, eating, and reporting, ladies! 😉🐔🐥🐤🐣💗
Thank you!😀💕
They all so beautiful....
Thank you!💕😊
I need to refresh the sand in our dust bath. I have to drive about 45 minutes away to get the coarse sand so will be a bit!
Oh wow! Is it masonry sand?
@@morninggloryfarmstead Yes. I read the play sand is too fine and bad for them to breathe in.
@@morninggloryfarmstead Is that what you use, also?
Yes! That's what I have always used. I have mixed it in dirt too with DE but have really done well with the just the sand. Of course they have dust baths eveywhere but I have two kiddie pools with it that are under shelter so that when it rains they can still use the sand dust baths!💕😊
@@morninggloryfarmstead I have a covered one, too. They like to just chill out in it. That is the one I add sand and dirt to and DE. Mine also have dust baths everywhere!
Oh no! We have had some baby snakes this summer--non venomous and tiny. I think a clutch of eggs hatched in our yard, because we saw 9 of them by the time summer has started wrapping up. Thought was an earthworm for a minute. But it looked dead. So I was gonna scoop it up and get it out of the chicken area--at that time I didn't know it was non-venomous. When I started scooping him up, he went wild! He was just playing dead because the chickens had pecked on him. I read about him after and their defense is to play dead.He was so little, he would have been eaten in one bite if they would have gotten him. He is safely over the fence.
Awww. I have seen a tiny one on the porch before and he didn't make it! I didn't try to pick up though haha! Oh my that would have been a surprise!😂
@@morninggloryfarmstead I have had to toughen up and tell myself it's the circle of life when they catch a little frog. We have a young toad living in the back yard. He is still alive! Has been there all summer.
Those spots in the yard are so wonderful! I had a huge leaf pile that sat for several months. There were bugs and worms all throughout. I divided it into to huge piles in their run for when we had to be out of town and they couldn't free range.I added scratch and soldier fly larvae in, too. When I checked on them, my son said they were spending their time on their pile.
What a great activity while you were gone! Very sweet of you!😊💕
