Running The 2023 Boston Marathon
Ford ran the Napa Valley Marathon in March 2022 as his qualifier for the 2023 Boston Marathon. We picked up the race packet the evening before and also checked out the expo. Getting to run this race was such a magical experience, with the constantly cheering crowd. In the future, better pre-race nutrition and more sleep would be beneficial.

We had a fantastic time visiting Panama City, Panama in March. Traveling to Central America to see Panama was easy and there were plenty of things to do. Exploring both Panama City and Buenaventura made for a diverse trip. We were able to see city life as well as visit a beach resort. Our activities included exploring old town, ziplining, and snorkeling. We drove across the Panama Canal a few t...

For our family members this year, we decided to gift them each an advent calendar filled with a few of our favorite things. We used leftover cardboard and hot glue to construct the box and added two layers of tissue paper on top to be punched through daily. Our 12-day advent calendar included items such as floss, chocolates, and hand-made ornaments. Music: www.bensound.com

The day of the big run is finally here! After 9 weeks of training, we were excited to get Alex out there. There were no official turkey trots in the area we were at for Thanksgiving, so we made our own shirts and just went for a run near our Airbnb. Unfortunately, more hills surrounded us than we thought, and the run was quite challenging. Although some walking needed to happen, Alex pushed har...

Starting at the South Rim of the Grand Canyon, Ford and a friend tackled the daunting challenge of running and hiking from the South Rim to the North Rim and then back to the South Rim all in one go. This is a 43-mile feat, that took the men about 13 hours to finish. This run took place at the end of October when the weather was cold at the top and a bit warmer in the canyon. They took food, wa...

Running a 5K can feel daunting if you are coming from basically no fitness. We started training for our 3.1-mile Turkey Trot in August, this year, and are excited about the progress Alex has been making so far. For the first time we tried out keeping Alex’s heart rate at about 80% of her max and it has made all the difference. Her runs are now enjoyable and don’t feel overwhelming. Building fro...

We learned this country line dance while at San Luis Obispo’s The Graduate. It is called slappin’ leather and can go to songs such as Stuck Like Glue by Sugarland, American Kids by Kenny Chesney, Little Red Wagon by Miranda Lambert, and more! This is a great beginner dance and perfect for anyone just getting into line dancing. It’s a fairly easy dance to learn that looks a lot harder than it is...

Through a process of trial and error, we made our own Halloween decorations out of things we already had around our house. These teeth were made out of cardboard and stuck to the window using masking tape. Figuring out the lighting situation was a little tricky, but we figured out a good way to showcase our new décor. Overall, we are happy with the result of the uneven teeth and fangs. Music: w...

We made a wedding arch from scratch for a family member’s wedding. Using copper piping and some welding skills, we created a circular arch to have at the ceremony. Ford created a pipe bender using some rollers to make sure we could get a clean curve. It took a few 10-foot pieces of copper tubing, but it is self-supported and was easy to set up and take down. You do in fact need either a National Park Pass or NW Forest Pass to park. Might get lucky and not caught but why risk it and forgo helping the park system.

Nice video. I have the exact same bike. As I watched you lifting it up to put in your vehicle, I figured I should mention what I do. My wife and I both have these (hers is the slightly smaller step-through RadCity 3). We have a Honda Odyssey van and can get both of them in the back. What I do is roll the bike just a little past the rear of van, then grab the right (rear) brake and lock it and tip the front wheel up. It will stay since i have the rear brake on. I swing that up just barely into the back of the vehicle. I then grip the left (front) brake with the left hand and lift up the back of the bike with my right hand, then slowly let off the front brake and just roll the bike in. It's a lot easier than trying to lift the whole bike up at once to set it in!

EPIC Gentlemen!!! When I saw those leggings at the beginning, and then the shorts, I knew it was about to get real!! But when you made the turn from Phantom and headed toward Black Bridge, I literally said, "Oh sh!t...this doesn't end well." You guys processed S.Kaibab, like it was nothing. Wow!! Stashing all your gear was a pro move. My daughter and I run R2R's and Rim2Rivers, and love those trails. The Canyon has destroyed us a few times, but we always come back. Have a few vids of our adventures there, on the channel. I'm amazed at how empty it was in the Canyon during your crossings. I ran R2R on Oct. 8th, and the crowd at Manzanita Rest Stop was so large it had spilled out and was blocking the trail. Phantom looked like someone was hosting a farmer's market. I literally couldn't go 50yds on the trail without running into the next group of hikers.

I have a radcity 4 this exact ebike. I use it for food delivery. I bought it in may 2022 and have already put 2500km on it. No issues so far. Just some break and gear adjustments. I live in a third(top) floor appartment with no elevators. After I threw out my back carring it up the stairs several time when I first got it, I came accros a very effective solution. First is to make 2 trips carring the battery, seat and anything else I had and the second from I youtube video. You make a strap to go around your shoulder and attach a hook to one end then you hook the bike at the bottom of the frame where there is a hole for a center kick stand. This alows you to straighten out your back and eliminate all those awkward positions that stress your back out. You should at least take the battery and quick release seatpost out before loading it in your van.
