Hazard Climbing: White Pine With Major Decay!
Our small veteran owned tree service was hired to remove this massive pine tree with major decay at the base. We set up and employ different techniques & just free fall large limbs along the way. If you are just starting a tree service, are an experienced contract climber or just generally interested in the industry I hope you find the dismantling of these monster trees entertaining!

Great Video! Do you need any licenses, certifications or permits in order to cut trees? Or does it go state by state? Thanks!
just an LLC, insurance and a business licenses! glad you enjoyed the video!

Instead of the ol pull with the truck method, I picked up a winch and rigged it up on a bracket similar to the GRCS and use that. Positive- Works great. Negative- Heavy
that makes so much more sense!
@@In-The-Trees Dont get me wrong tho. If there is room for the truck to do it, I still do it that way haha
Dang, I was hoping to see the Avant 225 in action. I think I'ma buy one.
I love the thing! Check out the 425 as well, that thing has the extendable arm for the grapple, the 220 is awesome but you might like that more.
@@In-The-Trees to get another 6" lift out of the 225, I'm thinking of using a couple of the hard plastic ramps used to change the oil in vehicles. The 55" lift height is the only major drawback I see. What's your opinion?
So we load our trailer using the ramps in the back and just drive right up into it with the wood. I think i have an old live stream you could skim threw to get an idea. You can get a lot of wood loaded that way with a little fenagling. I do see an issue with the ramps you're talking about, 99% of the you're going to be moving a log that sticks out in front 4 to 5 foot so you would have to be real exact on where you put them. Email me your number if you want, I'll tell you all the ins and outs that I've learned over the past 2 years with it.
@@In-The-Trees cool man. I'm not in a big hurry, but I will be making a purchase this year.
If you can’t see it, it ain’t there 👍🏼 for sure haha great climb brother 🙏🏼
Haha thanks man!
Sorry to spam ya with messages! Do you like the Milwaukee, I didn’t watch the video thru yet but I will, I like the longer videos for sure 👍🏼 for a battery saw I have a makita and its handles great but stalls way to easy in the cut!
No worries! I love it! Stride trees has a great video on it on their channel you should check out. But yah I've been using it every day now for over a year.
@@In-The-Trees thanks I got batteries for it so I’ll check that out as well 👍🏼
Great job
Thank you!
Can you use it without the flavor pod things?
Yes'ser
Ok, I watched it. Cute little pine trees. 😉
Haha facts. Get me in one of those real ones!
I haven't watched this video yet, but I feel personally attacked by the title. 😉😅
Lmao it's out of love.
Enjoyed the video. Seems you could have done some speedlining on those Spruce.
You're absolutely right. Honestly the thought never even crossed my mind.
Enjoyed the video and the story. Nice work on the evergreen. Ugh.....sap!
Thank you! Yah this tree was gross!
Are the test open book?
No they're not
I hate when the crew leaves tools on the job
Just got mine today. Have Kidney disease so I have to quit vaping & I’m just hoping it will be enjoyable.
It helps for sure!
Hows the shoulder feelin darin?
Stull hurt. Lol

do you have a facebook or any other way to ask you questions

Tip Top, Number 1 thing you need if you wanna start your own Tree Company is at least very Minimum have 6 Consecutive years of Tree Work Experience and that’s Pushing it. If I was able to make Laws I would make it a Mandatory 10 Consecutive years of Documented experience. There is way way Waaayy Too Many Deaths in Our Industry. I’ve been Fortunate and have 20yrs of Documented Consecutive Experience in Removals and Pruning.
I personally think all should need is a can do attitude and a solid plan.
I'm not a viewer but thanks for the discount code. Let's see if it's worth it
Good luck man!
Se puede tomar el exam en español en Estados Unidos???
Enjoyed the video. Nice climbing, rigging and cutting. Pretty good ground work too. A1
Thanks for the re-assurance, I've started my gear collection in a similar fashion. I starred work for a large tree company a year ago and I'm climbing almost daily. My city provides a weekly curb side grapple truck service for yard waste, so I"m hedging the truck expense by toting the messy/sharp/awkward gear in a rooftop cargo box, intended for skis.
really nice job!
Thanks!
I wanted to see u guys carrying the logs without the avant. So I don't feel like the only one using my back instead of a machine. Also, good to see Darrin up in the tree. I was getting tired of watching Nate up there every time
Lmao you need to learn to appreciate hydrolic power some how. 🤣 ask Darin about his arm nowadays..
I also prefer working by hand. Manly men for the win
@@neenee8194 lol I would say it's my preferred way, but it is a way. .🤣
Love Your videos man. My uncle and I are beginning to talk about starting a tree service business since he’s been doing it on his own for a few years now. So starting small is what we need to do and this is excellent !!!
Glad you're finding value in them!! Good luck man, it's a journey. :)
Hey would you mind telling us how much for that job ?
I honestly don't recall
Thank you :)
Appreciate you!
It hung up because your facecut was too small. Do a more open one next, and the fibers will snap before the facecut closes completely.
i started using Fum about a week ago. Been smoking for 50 yrs (pipe mostly) and my lung isn't what it used to be. I too like the Maple Pepper best. But I really wish they had a tobacco flavor. Maybe can't make a tobacco flavor without using actual tobacco with all the drawbacks. But I actually miss the taste of my pipe.
I felt the same way, stick with it tho! Totally worth it once you get some distance from your last smoke!
i had 2 spruce stems do that this week. Good work fellas
Its really annoying when they do. Lol

Hey buddy in your opinion do you think there's going to be a bad War soon or do you think it's all talk
I try not to stress over things like that, I just try and focus on things that are in my control.
@@In-The-Trees yeah you're right I've been trying to do the same thing it's hard for me though
Just curious buddy why didn't you climb that one I always see you up there LOL God bless thank you for your service
Haha Darins sick of me stealing his thunder. :p

Enjoyed the video.
Appreciate you!🤙
Camt understand the song ..sounds like saying gota little choopie...gotta little choppie or 2 peice ..😂
Lol it's funky fresh
good work man! that first clime seemed like a real wrestle! as someone who climbs and drags branches, its worth it on the ground guys to toss the branches so the butt faces the chipper. When cutting stumps you can go over 50% on the face cut to undermine the center of gravity and get it to tip easier, that fat log probably sat down on the back cut and needed a lot of force to lift over.
Thanks for the tips!
Fun video … your service wasn’t forgotten yesterday or ever … hopefully you heard from some of your old army buddies … keep rockin the videos dude! @elusivetreesurgeon
Appreciate you!
When I cut spruce without the top I usually have to put a deeper and wide open face cut.
Suff is tough!
I’m sure you know this but you can cut the center (guts) of the hinge wood also so you don’t risk cutting one side of like what happened and still have some hinge material on the sides.
Why cut a good tree?
This tree is what we call a bad tree
Your skill amazing man ❤
Ouch, glad you’re good.
Thanks man! Definitely got lucky!
Loved all of your wife’s appearances! 😂
Lol this is going to make her so happy
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Good job! No fear of heights allowed in this job, obviously 😊 Had you rigged the rope higher up - harder to do obviously - the tree that “back-fired” towards you would have dropped just down instead?
Thank you! So yes! That was what I was trying to make happen. It's difficult judging where to put it, we're pulling hard on these things and cottonwood is very brittle. But yes, you're absolutely right. If it was tied higher it would have swung away from me.
How much does it cost to get this done professionally?
I wouldn't know
"Watch your head", Darrin was clear to the next county in 1 second flat
Lmao that had me dying too
Just gotta think skinny to get thru that gate haha.
Good job👍 A bit lucky with the branch that came flying toward your stomach, but hey... Do you fix the lawn if it gets damaged, or how is that? I'm just curious
I definitely got lucky! Could have been so much worse. But yah we do if there's crazy lawn damage.
