Beach and Tennis Club // Bonita Beach // May 2024
Hi everyone! Back with a long awaited update of the Beach and Tennis Club in Bonita Springs Florida across from Bonita Beach. The building are all up and running as of March 1. Amenities are very limited, the 16 tennis courts are still missing as well as pickle ball and bocce. The shuffle board area did survive, but the pools are still inoperable. The beach is beautiful as always and Doc's Beach House, Coconut Jacks, and The Fish House are all nearby and open.

I'm back with an update on Fort Myers Beach! Here's what it looked like TODAY Monday March 25th 2024 along San Carlos Blvd, Times Square, and the Pier. It was noticeably busier than when I filmed in December. Wahoo Willy's is open now, the turf area next door looks shaded and nice. Boats are out and so are the people! I am 34 years old now I did that carving when I was 15 years old. hopefully the beach will one day become what we all remembered it as

Were owners assessed for any of the repairs? Don't they pay something like 1k/month in association fees? I wonder if they charged the same amount even as no ammentities. We used to spend a week in bldg 2 every year when we loved in s.e. fl. Loved the place so much. Easy drive to lovers key for the day. Hope it bounces back better than before. So much potential. Just wish there was some multi bedroom units.
Hi Dave, yes owners have assessments. they also pay association fees. how much each owner charges is up to them. the beach is the biggest "amenity" for this area and it looks great. theres a lack of units in this area between bonita and fort myers that are back up and running so there are many renters for the few builds available.

Not sure why they haven’t started on the pools, tennis and pickleball courts.
The pools were going to start but I believe the builder backed out. The very small pickleball court is still there but beat up and no net. The tennis courts I'm not sure of the plan.
I stayed at this complex just a few days ago. 4th building. Aside from the balcony being closed there was no problems. The beach was amazing. Doc’s was a disappointment because of hefty price increases in food, beer and clothing

Hi John! This was in May. And they just went again last week for Cobia and permit and caught a ton.

I want a place to go to today. where I can walk around and check out some shops, walk the beach, and have access to the bathroom and maybe a good place for some fried chicken and some ice cream. Any suggestions? i don't usually watch non narrated videos. Usually read the comments for the best information on these type of videos.

Was there August 2023, and it was so desolate. It was deserted. I hope there's been some improvement in recovery since then. Process is slower than we would like. Never seen Fort Myers beach so desolate. There seemed to be a shortage of workers from what we could see. Places a little farther inland seemed to do better. Just a loss of power.
yes a shortage of workers, supplies, and a very slow permit and insurance process. Although still not back to normal crowd level I was happy to see quite a few more people around than in December. I also go pretty early in the mornings so that's why you don't see much activity in this video.
@@LindsayLola_ The insurance companies need to get out of the way, so more recovery can take place. They're standing in the way. After Michael in the panhandle in 2018, they ripped some friends we've known many years off (my dad's college roommate and his wife) and they couldn't get their house fixed.

There was a rooftop restaurant about 1,000 yards south of the Pier. Is that up and running?
no, it was demolished along with most every times square building on the beach front side.

overall good! However they did a big water release from Okeechobee so its day by day right now.
Lindsay - Do you think they are doing a good job overall of rebuilding and developing Fort Myers Beach area? We go every year from Ohio so interested in your opinion thx!
Oh that's such a loaded question! Ask a local and they will say it's being ruined, ask a visitor and they'll say it's taking too long. I'm in the middle. Some parts of FMB did need to be updated, but over all I'll be very very sad if it looses its charm and becomes a Marco Island. Time will tell.

It is! I have a video where I walk on it.
What about DiamondHead Beach Resort? Is the beach worth going to? Is there still too much debris to be walking barefoot?
I had heard Diamondhead is scheduled to open next month. I am getting closer toward taking my kids to this beach. Not yet, for me, but lots of others are going.
