Sanibel Condos & Resorts // October 2023 update

- As the time to book holiday and spring break vacations approaches there have been a lot of questions about how rebuilding is going in Southwest Florida a year after Hurricane Ian. I walked probably a total of 4+ miles to see how condos and resorts looked from the Beach. Today's video will show from Tarpon Bay Beach southward down to Sanibel Sunset Beach Inn.

Jokes aside the progress is painfully slow. Even worst is that as a beach it looks GREAT, but I guess another low occupancy season in 2024

Everyone of these abandoned buildings is gradually deteriorating, which means the cost of repairs is steadily increasing. Where is the money going to come from? The buildings are uninsurable, so who’s going to loan any money? If repairs are made, who’s gonna want to spend time in a disaster area ghost town?
I think a lot of buildings are waiting on insurance, permits, and availability of workers.
@@LindsayLola_ If property owners are still waiting on insurance settlements, then it is a scandal, a scandal enabled by the governor and state legislature.
It seems as though the state has turned its back on Sanibel and FMB, because the reality diverges from the rosy scenario it wants to sell.
Most Floridians may be unaware of what happened in Acapulco last month, but I guarantee that the insurance industry is acutely aware of what cat 5 winds did to luxury high rises, an awareness that will make itself felt in Florida when policies come up for renewal.
How are the condos at Seashells of Sanibel?
I'm not quite sure Jane, I'll look for them next time.
