    *IM ABOUT* to upgrade to a professional machine for my straight stitch work SPECIFICALLY for the throat space - I work with a lot of heavy wools The other reason is the knee lift and the range of precision feet. The precision of the presser foot has a LOT to do with the quality of the finished product

    This really didn't compare anything as far as functionality. Correct me if I'm wrong, but Janome only has one mode, not two, and Janome cannot zig zag. Plus, the Janome ASR is much bulkier and has a long cord that can more easily get unplugged as you work. While Janome's ASR does have a ruler sole, Bernina does not. But, Bernina now since this video was made is building in their BSR so any free motion foot can be used. A comparison video should have compared all of these important differences.

    • @thesewingmachineshop4903
      @thesewingmachineshop4903 12 днів тому

      Hello, Yes, Janome only has one mode for their ASR system and Bernina has two, I believe we showed both BSR modes in this video and never alluded to Janome having more than one mode. In our experience working with Janome's ASR system, I have never heard any of our employees or customers reference the stitch regulator getting unplugged. You can absolutely zIg zag with Janome's ASR foot, with the echo quilting foot sole. Bernina's new BISR stitch plate for the new B990 has only been recently released...impossible information to include in a 10-month-old video. The goal of this video was not to do a full comparison of BSR and ASR and pit the two feet against each other but to show the two feet side by side, and show off this incredible technology.

    I have a baby lock Presto. It seems as though the fabric doesn’t want to feed through straight. I have to be very vigilante while sewing to make a straight seam. Is anyone having this problem or any ideas?

    Thank you. Great information. I still have my Pfaff with the built in dual feel....but it is plastic. I constantly think about a new machine. Looking at this video, it looks like some pressure do not just pop on and off like my Pfaff. Is that correct? I love your shop and your knowledge about machines is amazing. Thank you so much.

      I have several Pfaff machines with the built in walking feed system and the upper feed may look like plastic but it is metal and very well made on all my machines.

    • @thesewingmachineshop4903
      @thesewingmachineshop4903 12 днів тому

      Hello, On the normal shank for the janome, the feet do pop on and off very similar to your Pfaff. The Acuflex system is a different story it screws in like a shank itself and the different soles slide on and off the walking foot. Bernina has a very different system than your Pfaff, their presser feet hook or latch into place. If you live close to our shop I'd love to make an appointment with you to come in and demo some machines, call us at (925)937-7575 if you're interested in coming in. If you don't live close you can take a look at our website sewingmachineshop.com/, we sell all of the machines we cover on our youtube channel online and i'd more than happy to help you over email, lewis@sewingmachineshop.com.

    My Jacobean had to be serviced twice while while just making masks during the pandemic. I kept on thinking: Why does this dumb machine NOT work as good as my mom’s Singer, purchased in 1939? My quilting group had a zoom meeting where everyone showed off their sewing space. I learned that they all had no computerized machines! Most were older, pre 1960 and the only modern choices were like the Jacome 1600P, which only does a straight stitch and is not computerized. I was right all along. My mom’s machine was better than my fancy one.

      I have a 1950's all metal Singer straight-stitch that i amazing but I will be changing to an all metal professional machine soon. I have a PFAFF 6232 from 1990 with dual feed and some fancy stitches but its fully mechanical - not computerised. that is very good and a modern computerised Singer that is plastic garbage and I regret buying.

    I hate the Baby Lock I wish I had never bought it the threader doesn't work and the thread roll lying down has been a problem too. The threader has been fixed three times and still doesn't work. Please don't buy this.

    Thank you for this. So sounds like both systems have some pros and cons. The acufeed has greater contact area with the fabric and a range of interchangeable soles, but the Bernina dual feed works with some more feet, e.g. zipper. I hand baste zippers first, to avoid possible unpicking, and never thought to try using dual feed instead. I shall experiment with this. If only sewing machines could be built to order, so we could add the best version of every feature we want in a machine!

    • @bbymks5
      @bbymks5 19 днів тому

      Janome has a very narrow Acufeed foot and you can buy a zipper foot for it. Not sure it works on all models, but it works with mine.

    Thank you for helping to dispel the myth. I was using air compressors to clean computers before I retired and started using them for sewing machines. Never once had high velocity air knock anything loose except for the dust and lint. It’s an invaluable tool, and I’ve had a few machines where air was the only thing that helped clear up a tension disc issue.
