1979 Yamaha Enticer 340 **IT'S DONE!!**
Finished up the revival on this Enticer 340!
I did notice it was running funny and not revving up properly in this video. I have since rectified the issue! It's ready for the snow.

Can't believe all the issues I found with this motor. Missing circlip, 2 different pistons, bad mag crank seal, crooked pto seal and scored cylinder.

Really like those 80's. Another one back on the white stuff. 👍
That is actually a 1980 model. 1979 Enticer 340s were red with white stripes. I have the original Yamaha brochure.
@@thadschaeffer2563 it's a 79 with 80 decals.
very nice, well done! just as i remember as a kid, thanks!
Good work
Nice job!!! Looks great 👍🏻
It’s amazing how reliable those sleds are. If it was not left outside year around that sled would look like new.
Nice looking sled. Had a similar one in 1980 and it was practically bulletproof
Beautiful work, as usual...🎉🎉🎉
Best video so far. Thanks for explaining everything so a simpleton like me can understand.
Nice video, interesting little surprises inside! Thanks! 👀👌
I had one but it blew up 2 years ago because the bottom end bearing was going out and it is done.
Did you find the piston circlip? & Let us know what that cover is ... beside the gear on the PTO side. It Looks like an oil deflector... 🤷♂ Hoss
i think you'll need cylinders, the 82's were the ugliest color scheme imo lol, cant wait for the final outcome!
@@sixramsalot I definitely need cyls. I've located a set!
That big seal on the pto side is not the crank seal. It holds grease for the oil pump gears. The crank seal is inside the gear on the crank. You have to remove the gear to change the seal. I had an SRV where the circlip went missing and the wrist pin power ported the side of the cylinder.
I wonder if instead of a black windshield you went with a smoked look. Tamiya Ps paints are meant for polycarbonate and if prepped right they will withstand the cold and flexing and they make a smoked paint.
Looks like there might be a couple more engine rebuild update vids. Don't you like surprises? 😄
Love those sleds!
So excited for winter. You have a beautiful shop
nice ,i have an 80 that i put a 119" on it and i believe all the holes are there i dont remember drilling any holes, cant wait to see it up and running
looks Clean & pretty straight forward. should be a fun project. I'll be Watching. 👍👍
Nice! Looking forward to seeing how this one turns out.
@@chris7492 thanks for watching.
Good morning. I seen it pop up on online in S'toon right away and talked to the guy too. Good buy. Hope ya get it on the trails.
@vinmangt I was happy to get my hands on it! Excited to tear into it. It will be on the snow this winter for sure. Thanks for watching!
Missing the air box? I’ve got the same machine, I’ve also removed the oil tank and pre mix now.
@devonmccauley No sir. Air box is in there now!
the sled i grew up on except mine had the tach and grab handles, great memories, cool vid!
@@sixramsalot Thanks for watching. I had to add the speedo. Wish I had the tach to go with it too.
Looking good. It would be interesting to know the history of how the 79 chassis got the 80 hood and tunnel decals. Since you are looking for another Yammy, I would like to see an SRV. Should be easy to find since they made them for over 10 years. That is on my watch list....or a nice SS440.
@@chris7492 Agreed. An SRV would be cool 🤔 you got me thinking.
Ok

@TonyKeks-n7j Contact me on Facebook and we can chat. Just search Garage Nerd.
Are you interested in selling it?
@@TonyKeks-n7j hmmmm potentially. Where are you located?
do you still have it
@@TonyKeks-n7j Yes I do.
Love the new video! Do you think that I could get in touch with you? I'm located in MB and I'm in the process of restoring an old Bravo. You vids have been a motivation to get going, though I'm a bit stuck working on the tunnel. If I could pick your brain on a few things that'd great!
@jstoezel sure reach out to me on Facebook. Just search Garage Nerd there!
Just rebuilt one. Bottom end bearing went after one year of riding it😢
Hey nice builds out there! You’ve been an inspiration for me to rebuild an old Yamaha snowmobile. Would it be possible for me to get in touch with you by email or chat? I have so any questions to ask about a tunnel I’d like to fix up.
I bought one new in the fall of 1992, I was 29 at the time and had just got married. It was my 4th new Yamaha sled ever. Yamaha finally got this sled right (almost) with this final edition. The stronger port timing, racked flat slide Mikuni carbs and retuned exhaust made it much stronger than the previous models. It had a good 15 more HP than the older ones, I know I dyno'd one stock and with a host of aftermarket pipes. The down falls that still needed upgrading: the .75" lug Yokohama track was heavy over 40 pounds and it didn't hook up well. I swapped it for a 1" Camoplast Challenger track that weighed only 32 pounds. Secondly the newer YXR clutches at the time had limited parts available. Because of that I swapped at the time for a Comet 108c and set it up more aggressive. Finally though they retuned the exhaust for the extra HP there was about 10 more HP on the table with a Bender Racing pipe which I used. It was noticeable and the throttle response was incredible, like YZ dirt bike. Those few addons made my sled a sleeper, it would raise heck with much larger sleds of the era.

That 300 Enticer gives that SS 440 all it can handle I bet!
I have an 81 and I can’t seem to find crank bearings for it. Some are in stock but not all. The crank seems okay now but they don’t last forever. Where can I get bearings?
Pretty decent. I owned one from new for 4 years and it was one of my favorite Yamaha’s and I had several. Yamaha did all you needed in the engine department, if it runs good and has good compression leave it alone. The stock Yokohama track was junk, I replaced mine with a Camoplast Challenger 1” part #9793 no longer made but it hooked way better and was 8 pounds lighter. I’d look for a decent Camso track for it. The stock primary clutch was ok but I’d find a newer YXR primary with the better nylon bushings, 1995 or newer. Finally if you can track one down a Bender Racing single pipe works fantastic and made another 8-10 hp. Best one made for this sled, I dyno’d them all. My SX was a rocket, had the throttle response of a YZ dirt bike. Miss that sled, mine was serial number 1363.
Thanks for the information! I put a 3/4" track on this one and it worked great! Unfortunately I've sold this one. Wishing I kept it.
That's a keeper! Do you have it's big brother the 1977?
No sir. Wish I did though!
Gotta love those old Yamahas. I'll have one one day! 😁
just to let u know thats a 1980 model year looking at the decals anyways lol
Which is weird since it has a 79 Serial number. 8H5.
Yeah, it's a 79 with an 80 hood and decals. 1980 changed to steel belly pan painted black.
Nice Find!
Cool!
Looks like a fun little project.
Sweet! I like the pull handle fading imprint on the cowling, LOL. The belly pan being aluminum would be correct for a 1979, but the hood and tunnel decals are definitely for a 1980. Some kind of FrankEnticer! 😁
Congrats on the new 340!
Rear bumper is fine its like easy curled for better grip
Identical to my first v max brings back memories and when it snowed
Thanks for watching. I'll hopefully do a couple sleds this summer!
Finally a video! I’ve been watching your rebuilds from start to finish! You’ve been a motivation to restore my vintage Yamaha.
I can’t get enough of this, just bought a 80’ myself
