Thousands of dollars of damage due to a sprinkler malfunction at the Yorkton Walmart in Saskatchewan.
The unfortunate event happened at noon on December 11th, 2024 when a sprinkler burst above the walkway between Boys', Baby and Pet sections.
Filthy, stagnant water from the pipes poured over merchandise and pet food and spread under the clothing racks affecting the other clothing sections around them and ruining anything that was low enough to the ground to soak up the dirty water.
Employees and customers were shocked, but staff went right to work doing their best to clean up the disaster the dirty water caused once the water was shut off. By the time they were able to shut it off to allow staff to begin clean up so much damage was already done Kudos to the staff who had to clean all that. It was very sad and disheartening to see the so much affected and most likely would be thrown out.
