United States
Приєднався 13 тра 2015
We are an early-retired couple traveling full-time, eating plant-based foods, hiking the world's trails, and sharing our nomad lifestyle with you. Be sure to watch our weekly Sunday episode. We share our nomad life, our travel updates, and our favorite hikes, repositioning cruises and adventures as we live our life fully, one location at a time. We might even include our adventures in housesitting, sustainable travel, and off-the-beaten path locations. Join us on our slowmad, slow travel, traveling adventure.
Stories from Full Time Travelers. Honest Conversations with 5 Full Time Traveling Nomads
We Interviewed 5 full time travelers to find out what drives them to live as nomadic travelers. We learned that there is no "one way" to travel. Each has their own style, and their own reasons for traveling long term. Can you work while you travel? Can you save money being a globetrotter? Can you have a home base and still be a full time traveler?
If you ever wondered what it would be like to explore the world, these interviews with full-time travelers will give you insights about what makes their style of nomadic travel unique.

Loved hearing the stories! We too sold it all (without a storage locker) and will be where the cool kids are as well... arriving in BA from Montevideo on January 20. Hope to see y'all!
Wonderful. Send me a pm on Facebook or email me your fb info and I'll put you in the group chat for BA.
So great to hear everyone's stories! Those were wonderful guests. It's true that there are a multitude of ways to be a nomad. It's nice to hear how others do it, but ultimately you have to create your own style based on your personality, interests and goals. And you can always modify the way you travel as you learn what works for you. I've been a nomad for 2 1/2 years now and I can't imagine settling down. This is what retirement should be all about...following your dreams no matter how countercultural it may seem to others. Best wishes for safe and amazing travels in 2025!
It is great to hear how everyone is finding their own version of the nomad lifestyle.
I'm here for the numbers!
Glad to have you
That was really interesting and fun! I’m a solo female and have not cruised because it seems expensive for a solo person. Glad you included solo female travelers.
We are so glad you enjoyed the video! Two of them!
Hello I am traveling to Guam for 10months next week . What's the best way together my pone to work?
Guam can be tricky. Check the Flexiroam website to see if their global plan covers Guam. I do not know.
Great video❤ Thank you
You're welcome! We love making these.
Great to meet all of you !
I like the disruptor philosophy.
Thanks for the comment. We hope you are a disruptor too!
Thanks for the video 😊 I haven’t done any hiking but hubby and I are starting our travels in 12 months or so and I think we might want to start building in some hiking. Are there any hikes you have done or parts of hikes you would recommend for beginners - I will be using this next 12 months to do some local walks just to assess my fitness and best shoes etc.
Are you in the USA? We have over 75 hikes in the USA and over 30 hikes in the World on our website. Take a look at www.eatwalklearn.com/destinations and use the search feature to find a particular city. At the bottom of that page is also a tool to pick how long (in days) you want to hike. All the hikes we recommend are moderate hikes (with just a few exceptions.)
Well that was great fun! I loved seeing people we know, “Hi Cris Gawlik and Kate and Dave!” as well as seeing people we haven’t met yet but would love to meet! It’s always fun to hear other nomads’ stories! Thanks Chris and Steve!
Thanks! It's great to connect the nomad community together!
My wife is about to join me in retirement at age 46 and we're in the final stages of setting up slow travel out of a backpack overseas, taking care of parents, and doing van life in the US. There's always a challenge to this lifestyle, but I appreciate you bringing everyone's version to light. :)
Have fun launching!
It's fun to see some familiar faces 😊 In your video you said to reach out if we want to be in the book. My husband and I are nomadic with our dogs including a senior dog, so that might be an interesting type of nomad to include
Can you please email me? eatwalklearn@gmail.com. thank you!
I've hiked all my life, wilderness backpacking, to be exact, but simply can't anymore. Not everyone is medically capable of walking long distance. For me, I can still ride. My longest ride was 4000 km across New England and the Maritime provinces. I've ridden South Korea's 4 Rivers, the north coast of Hokkado, all over British Columbia. Can't wait to add the Camino to my list.
That's wonderful you're continuing to move great distances!
Not only are there different types of nomad travelers, but your type of nomading can change over the years. At age 35, I started as a corporate global development expat that took me to 40 countries. After my company downsized, I sold everything and became a FT digital nomad at age 52. Now age 64, I rent a live/work space and run my own business in the US but split my time between America, Asia and Europe. It keeps changing and that's what makes it so interesting. What's next?
It's a journey of exploration and change, isn't it?
Great video! And we feel so privileged to have found this group of wonderful people in Buenos Aires! I have shared this video with a few friends and family members who are nomad lifestyle curious. Thanks to you both for creating such a wonderful community online and in real life!
So glad you are part of the community!
Seems like walking the Camino is more consistent with the purpose.
You can walk, bike, or ride a horse.
I'm a purist. WALK.
Yes, we've done that too :-) (First time was the Portuguese Coastal!)
hello! i’ve watched yalla video so many times, its the most helpful video ive found, thank you so much! what is your code for flexiroam?
Thanks for video, I have seen it twice. I still have a few years before your life style and looking to plan ahead. I’m curious if you have compared budget by country, continent or region or in city or countryside; or cruise versus walks. Thanks again and I’m still looking through site. So if you have done that, I’ll find it soon.
You're so happy and wholesome. Kudos to the two of you for following your dreams.
Thank you so much!
As of January 1, 2025, I can confirm I my international data with Google Fi was suspended 90 days.
Yup. Sorry about that
Thanks so much for narrowing it down! We are there one day to snorkel, now to decide between Boca Catalina and Arashi. Which one has more shade trees? Thanks!
They're about the same. Not much
thanks for your video. you analyzed your spending on a cash basis (when an expense is incurred). a more accurate way is to allocate when the cost is consumed (when the cruise is taken, not paid). this allows you to buy things early (to save money without breaking) your budget. if you applied this accounting approach (called accrual basis), i think you were below your annual budget target.
Thanks for the comment. We talk about this often, and believe that it will average out in the long run. It's more work to change to accrual accounting, but we may make the change if we think the numbers are not truly representative of our spending.
Love the shirts and the green xmas bling! ❤😂😊 2024 is the memorable year that we got to meet you. ❤❤❤
Xoxo. Thanks for being our bling supplier
I'm interested in learning how Argentina has changed over the last year with the new political environment.
It's a wonderful place...but prices have risen.
We won't be able to compare since this is our first time, but we will do a video about living here for a month
Good intel! All the info I need to plan Turkey. Thanks so much and keep the content coming!!!
Thanks, PJ! I think you would really like it there!
Happy New Year my friends ❤❤
Happy New Year to you too!
Most of those boats don't have jib/Genoas up - so this was well before the actual start.
This was last year and about 5 minutes after the start
Very informative
Thank you for watching! Glad we could help
Thank you for this informative video. Airbnb, VRBO are hit and miss at best. Reviews are often misleading and properties not always as nice as advertised. Good to know that there are alternatives. Thanks so much Chris & Chris!
Our pleasure!
I’m debating taking same cruise you both did. Island princess to 🇨🇦 🇬🇱 aug 2025. I’m scared b/c I read some cruises miss 🇬🇱 ports due to weather and icebergs. I don’t care too much if we miss 🇨🇦 but I’d be upset if 🇬🇱 missed. What month did you sail? how was weather? Did you see northern lights? Thanks in advance
We sailed in August. Did all ports. No northern lights. We had three ports in Greenland which was nice in case we did have bad weather... But we didn't. Bon voyage!
Excellent video. Very helpful.
So glad it helped!
THIS is a library!
Totally!
I would love to get citizenship by descent but my ancestors were too adventurous! My father’s family came to the “new world” in the 1700s and my mother’s relatives came over in the early 1800s.
Wow. That's incredible. It's hard to find where they kept records even 100 years back.
Hello, I’m from Saudi and watched the end of your video where you talked about it. First: Welcome to Saudi! Second: Thank you for your kind and thoughtful words. Third: I hope you visit again-there are incredible places here like Petra and more. Thanks for the information, and great video! I’ll be taking my first Repositioning cruise soon!
Thanks! We loved Saudi.
I'm looking into travel insurance. Recently got a quote from IMG Global Hopper Senior Single Trip at $2200 Annually. Is that really the going rate these days? Seems kinda steep. What are some other options?
Try Genki. www.Genki.World/eatwalklearn
How awesome! I loved this video and all the details. Sounds like a hike that might be too difficult for me, so I love going along on your adventures. I kept thinking the whole time that I'd like to know how your knee is holding up, Chris! I feel I'm headed toward some kind of knee procedure, so I'm always keen to follow along on that progress.
Glad you enjoyed it! I've got an update video you should watch. My knee is great.
@@EatWalkLearn I did watch the video when you posted, but was wondering if there has been any change or update to the update, especially as you continue hiking. I only dream of hiking. I'm SO glad that your knee is still going strong. This gives me hope.
People are being blocked because google voice is US based. When you are outside the US longer than 6 months or so. google will get the opportunity to block you.
You're thinking of Google Fi, not Google voice. We've been on GV for 4 years abroad with no problems.
@@EatWalkLearn search in youtube for: How We Resolved Our Suspended Google Voice Account. Google say it's against their policy to use gv longer periods outside the us, expect you can be blocked. But of course if you like taking to risk loosing your number it's up to you. I just have put my number on T-Mobile pay as you go plan and pay $24 a year for it. It's a small price for all the hassle you need going through when you get blocked. Because most of Google's services are region specific.
Putting this on my hiking list for next time I'm in southern Turkey. Thanks for sharing!
Have an amazing hike!
Can you comment on getting the same car you picked. We may do some car camping on our trip and so want a car similar to the Citroen Burlingo. My concern, as with rental companies, is that they may not work very hard to have the exact car you chose and "upgrades" may be to something that gets horrible fuel economy or is too big for Europe, etc. In your research, did you find that TT guarantees the car you choose? Is it more of a guarantee because it is technically a lease/purchase? Thank you -
TT gave us the exact car we requested. You actually "buy" a particular car with its VIN.
So basacly i can wave them anywgere and theyll stop?? Thank you 😊
Yes
@EatWalkLearn thank you for the info 💚
A colossal thanks for this informative video. Most grateful.
Glad to have helped!
Just found you and am really enjoying your videos. I really love how you make friends everywhere you go. Thanks so much!
So glad to have you along!
New subscriber. I really enjoyed your video and plan to visit Chania in March 2025. You provided so much valuable information and resources. Thanks so much!
Have a great time
Very timely video for us as we are in Antalya, headed to Fethiye soon. Researching now for various segments to explore - and possibly do the hang gliding!
Have an awesome time!
Thanks so much. This has been most helpful.
Glad to help
Great video describing a perfect day! The details will surely help others plan this ideal day hike from Fethiye to Ölüdeniz, or vice versa from Ölüdeniz to Fethiye.
So glad to have you along for the hike
